I came here on company dinner.
First time in Berkley. The Bartender was super cool and made us an amazing Dil Drink. Love her style of serving. Def will be back

Cozy little spot with nice, moody ambience and intricate Victorian mahogany interior. The bartender and staff were very friendly and Very easy to talk to. My favorite order was the pulled pork sandwich. Perfectly tender and sweet. The ribs were really tender and juicy but a little too salty, and the fried chicken mole sandwich was over-seasoned as well. I could feel my tongue puckering up from all the salt and I usually have a fairly heavy palate. I think they have great potential and some really interesting flavors to work with. Just maybe tone down the seasoning a bit and it'll be amazing. They also have some great beers on draft.

This review is for Lola, who didn't think I would follow through with it.We stopped in during happy hour on a Saturday and had some amazing Harissa and BBQ wings. Lola made us amazing drinks based solely on what flavor profile we were in the mood for at the moment. We closed out our meal with the Cuban dip and burger which were both amazing and the onion rings which belong in a class all their own. I regret that it took us so long to find this place, but take solace in the fact that it exists.
Be the first to ReplyGreat for early dinner/drinks if you have kids.
The fries without spices are fantastic. The burger is also yummy. Wish they had a nuggets option for little kids and more variety of beer but overall a great spot for an early dinner and american food.

We were excited to check out this new place on University Ave. that a friend read about in Berkeleyside. We happily arrived at 5:30 which meant we could take advantage of Happy Hour. It seems 4Bells Public House is truly aiming to be a place for everyone to be comfortable. Sports fans (the name is a nod to sports) with the multiple TVs and games, families (kid-friendly food and pinball games), older, younger, etc. The wall art is very cool. Plenty of small tables to configure for small or larger groups. Drink and food is ordered at the bar. Drinks: 5Food: 5Ambiance: 5Service: 3.5*Our cocktails, beer and wine were great! My latest choice has been a classic Old Fashioned, and it did not disappoint. The bartender willingly changed a friend's drink to Old Fashioned when he accidentally ordered a Manhattan. *It was a smart move to have folks order at the bar if servers are not available to take orders at the table, but it seems they were still overwhelmed as it took a long time for our food to come out. But the people working were very nice and working hard. Only other note was the crispy chickpeas on the delicious cauliflower tacos (which weren't listed on the menu). It's a food allergy of mine, and although not severe, I would have asked for them to be served without. I will definitely come back again.
Be the first to ReplyWent there for the first time tonight for my birthday.
We went because of the great Yelp reviews about the food, and yes, the food was AMAZING! But LOLA!!! We will be coming back again and again!! She is AWESOME! I wish there was a Lola in every restaurant I went to and that I could met someone like her every day. Can't say enough good things about this place. Thanks again to Lola for making my night so special!

We came back for the toothsome lamb burger and the harissa wings but our hearts were made glad by the utter perfection of their House Old Fashioned, a hymn to bourbon and orange. On our way out, Lola behind the bar asked us to sample a new cocktail she is working on, a cucumber embued riff on the Ramos Gin Fizz. She nailed it, and us. We will be back again and again for the herbaceous concoction she has dubbed "Dill's Refresher". A real down home neighborhood pub to be proud of... don't miss it!
Be the first to ReplyFood - Food was decent.
We got ribs, wings, and poutine. The wings had a very interesting flavor that I can't pinpoint. It honestly tasted a bit medicinal, but my partnered really enjoyed them. Poutine fries were tasty but I wish the fries were crispier. They topped the fries with fried cheese curds - which absolutely made the dish much much better. Service - The waiter and bartender were really friendly. Food did take a little while to come out. Ambiance - Nice bar vibes. Felt both casual yet classy. Overall - Nice place for bar food and drinks.
Be the first to ReplyWe came happy hour on a Wednesday.
The place is formerly Doc Refreshers, same owner different foods and redid the place a little after someone drove into their front! They have happy hour deals on drinks and wings. Bartender is sarcastic funny in a good way, friendly and quick. Server is great too - attentive and cleaning up and checking in regularly. The place is a great pub style place with a bar and low and high tables and TVs. We had spiced fries, arancini and the M burger. All was tasty and cooked well. Fun place to hang with friends that has a full bar and fun people!
Be the first to ReplyBest bar food in Berkeley.
I've lived in San Francisco for some time at the Mission area. When I moved to the Eastbay, I was hoping for similar bar vibes. Tbh, I wasn't able to say I found it until I came here. I loved everything I ordered from fries, ribs and burgers that I've tried. But most importantly, I met Lola, the bartender there, as soon as I entered. Her smile is beautiful and she is extremely friendly. There must be something about Ohio transplants. I feel Ive known her forever. She is so wise and friendly for a thirty something bartender. She has been so open and honest with every conversation Ive had with her. She has added to my experience there immensely. I cannot stop staring at her beautiful smile and energy. I am looking forward to many more dinners and libations at this bar, including getting to know the friendly welcoming staff.

BEST MISTAKE EVER! We finally made it in a couple of weeks ago. First sit down indoor dinner with hubby since the ...you know. Very nice person took our order and made pleasant conversation. The server brought our food and I felt something amiss. His burger had lettuce and mine did not. We dug in and they were delicious! I then looked back at the menu and called the server over. His burger said "no veggies" and mine was supposed to have lettuce. Server went back to check and came back to apologize for the mix up. We each tasted the other's burger and decided we'd stick with the mix up. So there was no apology necessary and we let the server know this. Yummy! Thanks and we'll be back soon! Dang... just thinking back about this is making my mouth water...
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a whole vibe.
The decor is great, music even better. We had the wing sampler and every flavor was delicious. We also had the Ox tail mac n'cheese. This Mac n cheese might be the best on the planet. 10/10 definitely recommend it!

Came across this cool little public house whileon a recent trip to the area. A great old bar, the bar itself is one of those true old school wooden ornate bars from an era gone by. They just do not make them like that anymore. The staff that I encountered were all friendly, professional and engaged with their customers.A simple menu offering with libations. Walk up counter service, place your order, pay or open a tab, get a number and grab a seat. Your food will be brought to your table once ready. So after perusing the menu, I strolled up to the bar and placed my order. The pulled Pork sandwich with fries and a side of Oxtail mac n cheese. A pint of a local lager and I was set.I found a table with a view, sports was on every television as a playoff game was on. The vibe is very chill and a locals hangout. Within about ten minutes or so my sandwich appeared, followed closely by my mac n cheese a minute or so later. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful and piled high on a toasted bun, the hand cut fries were also very good. The Oxtail mac n cheese is also very good, rich cheesy full flavored and more than enough to share. A leisurely hour or so, I enjoyed my food and beverage both and the atmosphere is comfortable with a cool staff thats friendly and kind.4 Stars a solid choice for the area 00847

Let's kick this off with a bang! I'm glad to see that this neighborhood spot has its doors open again. I'll be there very soon. Even though you've remodeled and had a name change, I'm hoping y'all still have the juicy Lucy and the white wings. Just a few of my favorites from the previous menu. I'll be back with an update. Cheers!
