Aarde Restaurante Madrid Reviews from The Last Year
GOOD COOKING BUT…..
Very pleasant visit to this restaurant, extensive menu that can satisfy various tastes; short delay for preparation of the requested menu, excellent presentation and highlights its haute cuisine. A detail that does not allow it to give it a higher score is the difference in prices indicated on the menu and what they bill when requesting the bill. It is not a cheap place with an average consumption of 70 euros per person (without liquor, only 1 glass of wine)
Dinner in the heart of the city
Restaurant with an excellent location, from the table we could see the Puerta de Alcalá. Cuisine with traditional products with an exotic touch that is very pleasant for the senses Everything we had was good: cauliflower, asparagus, mortadella pizza, tuna, monkfish, hake, sea bass and for dessert, coconut French toast. Good service, everything served on time without waiting between dishes. Good valet service as an added value One but: when sharing a drinks area the music is loud and the atmosphere in general is noisy although you could talk. Nice place and fun decoration
Do not visit this restaurant - it has poor ratings for a reason!
Absolutely do not visit - this restaurant has poor ratings for a reason. We were seated next to the door so were freezing the whole time, charged for several items we didn't order, and served by inexperienced and rude waiters, who gave us the wrong wine and took away our bread and hummus (not complimentary, by the way!) before we had even started it. We then had to wait over an hour to pay as the card machines had stopped working - this would've been fine had we been offered another drink - but we didn't receive so much as an apology. Food is overpriced and not worth it. The owner of the restaurant is also incredibly rude, and does not care to hear the opinion of his clients. Don't waste your time - there are far better restaurants in Madrid, indeed on the same street.
What need do you have to treat like this?
We arrived on a rainy Tuesday around 9 p.m., the hostess greeted us and asked us if we had a reservation, to which we said no, she told us to stop by here and took us to the part that was entering on the left, there were two tables. empty, and very kindly he told us better in this one because in the other one it gets very cold when they open the door and we ah great but right next to it there was a table with a lot of kids talking loudly happy and we said better we move to the other one but Indeed, it was getting extremely cold, so we decided to go back to the beginning (all this in a matter of 2 minutes) well until then everything was correct and very good. We were about to order when suddenly a waitress appears out of nowhere and without greeting us she tells us: this table is reserved, you have to go to the bar, a little more she takes the chairs from us and we calmly try to explain to her that they had placed us there and etc. He tells us, well, it doesn't matter, you have to go to the other side, but he spoke with such an unpleasant tone that he had never received treatment like that either there (which he had already been to many times) or in any other restaurant, so We said: sorry but that is not the way to treat clients and we will not move from here, in which case the problem is your poor coordination. The waitress leaves and suddenly returns and says in an altered voice: for next time, you have to make a reservation!!! What an embarrassment we had with some investors who came from outside Spain and we decided to take them to dinner there. I wonder if the store manager is aware of the behavior of his workers or if they act on their own free will, or if they don't care and are only interested in billing. (Great empires have fallen)
rich site but with some flaws
The atmosphere was too noisy with loud music. Fortunately we ended up in a section with 4 tables where it was less bothersome. We liked the food very much, except for the sea bass, which was rich in flavor but unfortunately it was not well cleaned because we found 3 bones. The service, the sommelier was very pleasant and attentive to us. The waitress was a little confused about the drink requests and I thought it was a very ugly gesture that when she served us the bread she saw that one of the auxiliary plates was missing, and she told us that she was putting the two breads together on my plate, a gesture ugly for a restaurant of this level.
Delicious and good price
I find it delicious. I hesitated to go by the comments but the reality is that most of them are about the price, and yes, Aarde is expensive but it is worth it. Not everyone enjoys delicious food for a high price but I think it is spectacular. The price is worth it for the delicious food, the service they offer and the beautiful place it is. What really surprised me was the black truffle risotto, it is spectacular. Delicious. The drinks have too many combinations and are very delicious.
crazy atmosphere
We went to dinner at this trendy restaurant and the truth is that the food was delicious. Everything we ordered was good without exception, especially the tuna tartare and the risotto. The only bad thing is that the restaurant is packed, it is very full and it is a little stressful that there are so many people walking around everywhere, waiters stressed from top to bottom. I had to ask for my drink to be brought to me on three occasions, when my companions had already been served. The biggest problem was the quantities, the truth is that they were quite small, but the truth is that because of how delicious the food was, it was worth going. The menu is very varied and has something for all tastes.
Top!!
A very elegant place with an atmosphere and high-quality people where they serve you excellent food for a fair price for the place it is. It was my first time at this restaurant and I will 100% return.
Facade only
Very well located restaurant, pleasant decoration. The service is bad, they are not professional. The waitress's explanation of what a fideuá was left us perplexed, the bread was served as if they were throwing a basket, the wine was served like an apprentice cider pourer. Bad food without flavor, without soul without taste. The price is abusive for Aarde's claims. We are very disappointed
Excellent
Our meal was delicious. We walked up to the hostess after a long day of sight seeing, and were seated at a table right away in their heated outdoor tent. This was a Saturday at 7 pm, so just as dinner service was beginning. We were amongst beautifully dressed people and a very energetic atmosphere. We found the staff to be friendly and enjoyed the blankets draped over the patio chairs. The ambiance was aglow and warm with flaming heat lamps placed btwn each table. Attentive service. We ordered the salmon sushi roll and a delicious lettuce salad to start, both were excellent. Around the table we had the steak with chimichurri sauce, sea bass, and another sushi roll. It was all excellent and beautifully cooked. We also each had a roll and had a selection of white and raisin, of which we tried both. They served the most delicious naan-like flat bread which was seasoned with olive oil, salt and garlic. It was served with a yummy hummus. Minus one star due to a few curious service moments. In clearing my son’s sushi plate, a server dumped the mostly full dish of soy sauce on himself and down the back of my son’s chair, which splashed his coat. Not a big deal but the server didn’t bother to acknowledge it or clean the aftermath - at all. One server whisked away some hummus that was left on the table that my son was still enjoying. And lastly our main server, who was very sweet and attentive, brought over a bowl of peas with three petite raw eggs and asked if I was interested in the dish . I did not order it. I nodded yes and he mixed it in front of me and I enjoyed it. I was charged 38 euro for the plate and this surprised me a bit. Was it a misring? Meant for someone else? Or a daring attempt at driving up our bill? I would not have booked this restaurant based on the reviews and 3-star avg rating. It ended up being our best meal in Madrid despite the slips mentioned. We left happy and satiated.
Disappointing experience!
So disappointing! Very fancy and expensive but the service was just unwelcoming on every level. For main we had steak which was delicious and well made but over priced and not worth the money because of the bad atmosphere and attitude from staff. The staff also doesn’t speak English and not helping with navigating the manure or recommendation. Also, the restaurant did not allow me to charge my phone with my fast charger, and insisted I downloaded an app and paid 5 EUR for a “Chargy” service , which I did to respect the restaurant rules but for the entire 1.5 hours in the restaurant my battery went from 30% to 70% . As a tourist that uses the phone to get around in the city that was critical for me.
Poor service and rude staff
The venue is very nice and this is the only positive comment! Food is overpriced versus low quality. Service cannot be rated because at very popular level. Staff is rude, waiters don’t let you enjoy anything because they stole your plate as you pause, but still working on. A couple next to us ordered 2 glasses of champagne, the man complained about an hair in the full glass: the waiter didn’t change the glass, took off the hair with man’s knife: HORRIBLE!!!! C’mon are you serious????? Do you really leave the management of your restaurant to such people?????
Spectacular food, great service!! Fun classy environment.
.. highly recommended I'm confused of the lack of positive reviews for this place! Not sure what's going on...

We serendipitously discovered Aarde restaurant on our last day in Madrid, and what it perfect ending to an epic trip! With a backdrop of a beautiful day, we knew we wanted an outdoor dining experience. Our desire for a special and memorable final dinner in Spain led us here. To describe the food and atmosphere as exquisite would be an understatement. The menu offered a delightful fusion of international flavors, making it a challenge to select our dishes. Fortunately, the attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff, working in teams, provided exceptional guidance on the many delicious options. Our selections were nothing short of amazing, and it's hard to imagine any item on this menu being a disappointment. Aarde is worth every penny. We highly recommended it if you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in Madrid!

I was a little skeptical about this place given some of the negative reviews online. Overall the dining experience wasn't stellar but the food definitely made up for it. We had the chicken, steak, and risotto (all were excellent). Dessert was solid too. Portions are on the smaller side but that's to be expected. Many of the servers didn't speak English which was surprising given the location but wasn't a deal breaker since I speak Spanish fluently. Lots of "influencer-like" patrons which I didn't mind too much being from LA. With that said, the ambiance inside was "cool" and "trendy." Compared to other restaurants in Madrid it's definitely on the pricey side. For US patrons looking for a nice dining experience unlikely to be a deal breaker.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
