Honestly the food here is quite disappointing, especially for the price. Everything was quite average, if not slightly below average given the price points being charged. I'm a big fan of izakayas, and have tried quite a few in NYC, and had been avoiding this place for a while due to the mixed reviews and the slightly higher price points. Seeing that they were doing NYC Restaurant Week, I decided to give it a try. We decided to make an 8:30 reservation for restaurant week. After rushing to arrive at 8:30, we were told that they stopped taking restaurant week orders at 8:15. It'd only been 15 minutes (their kitchen was still open btw, and many of the restaurant week items were still on their regular menu). Regardless though, we just decided to make the most of it and order from their regular menu. I tried the below items: Sukiyaki (2/5) - Sliced meat was tender, and it comes in a small hot pot. The soup base is overwhelmingly sweet though, it almost tasted like sugar water. I know Sukiyaki is supposed to be sweet, but this was way too sweet. Roasted Duck Breast (2/5) - While the taste was fine, at $17, there was maybe about 3-5 slices of very thinly sliced duck? It was so thin you could put it right into a sandwich as a cold cut. Miso Black Cod (3/5) - This was normal. Not outstanding, but good! Tender and flavorful as it usually is, albeit a small piece (they usually are though).Homemade Chicken Tsukune (4/5) - Loved this one! Chicken meatball was very tender and flavorful. It was $10 just for one stick though which is quite pricy given that it's chicken on a stick. Berkshire Pork Belly (2/5) - Pork belly was a bit dry and tasteless (tasted like light teriyaki sauce on top). Not a must order for sure. We also felt quite rushed throughout the meal. I think the restaurant officially closes at 10PM(?), but regardless if you're going to offer 8:30PM reservations to customers, you shouldn't make them feel rushed throughout.
