During our trip to Philadelphia, we wanted one night to be at a steakhouse and were intrigued by the concept of this “boutique” restaurant.
The restaurant is in an area that is surrounded by other restaurants and outdoor dining. The block it is on is pedestrian only at this time. There is no signage for this restaurant other than a black plaque with a rose embossed on it, so you need to look carefully for the entrance. The address is 113 S. 13th st and the address is shown by the door. Ring the doorbell, confirm your reservation through a panel in the door, and they let you in. Not sure what would happen if you didn’t have a reservation.
The restaurant is small but beautiful with a wood barrel ceiling and dark and clubby like a good steakhouse should be.
They recommend splitting the porterhouse (Filet and NY strip separated by a bone) or the tomahawk (bone in steak), if you and the person splitting it like your steak cooked at the same temperature. We went with the porterhouse recommendation, which was $103 (for two) and ordered a couple of sides.
Everything was excellent. Steak had a great char and buttery flavor. Really liked the macaroni and cheese side and the forest mushroom side had a good but strong taste.
Service was good but server did forget to bring out the bread rolls. Not cheap but if I came back to Philadelphia again, I would definitely come back.
