Amaya Grill and Bar London Reviews
Still the best restaurant in London hands down.
The pepper chicken is incredible. As are the sweet potatoes, chicken parcel wraps. Prawns and lamb and spinach and broccoli also very good.
Service has sadly declined
We have been coming to Amaya for close to 14 years now. Always been great food and service. In our last visit I saw a major decline in service with wait staff not trained and serving like they are serving you free food. For the prices and the brand I would expect to do a better job and hire proper waiters and train them to warrant Michelin star otherwise they will be losing that soon.
Wonderful!!
A wonderful fine dining experience in Belgravia. From the warm welcome and attentive service throughout our visit, to the exquisite food and stunning cocktails, tasteful decor and the open kitchen, everything was perfect and thoroughly deserving of their Michelin star. The lunch platter was also incredible value for the quality and standard of food. We have been several times to Amaya and this certainly wonโt be our last visit. Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience
Did wait a little time for a table as I was by myself, boss and 2 friends sat at another table. The waiter by the name of Lorenzo was ever so helpful and friendly by helping me choose my meal.
Lacking commercial attitude
Amaya has become a very disappointing experience. We first ate as a foursome in April 2024 and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. The knowledgeable waiter guided us through the menu and set up an exciting variety of dishes. This month, we planned to return as a couple. Unfortunately my wife became ill on the morning of the day we booked. I called to cancel and learnt that even medical reasons were not sufficient to avoid the 30 pound per person cancellation fee. Amaya needs to learn that getting a customer back costs more than treating them with respect in the first place. That means we have also crossed Chutney Mary and Verraswamys off the list.
Absolutely phenomenal dining experience at Amaya!
The Black Pepper Tikka and kebabs were outstandingโperfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. The ambience is elegant yet warm, creating a wonderful atmosphere for a special meal. Highly recommend and will definitely return! 5 stars!
Quality Indian fine dining
Date of visit: 25/05/2025 I ate here as part of a civil partnership celebration, so had a set menu of 5 small courses. Due to the speciality of the occasion, me and the rest of the group had lunch in the private dining room. Everything I had here was perfect, making for a fine dining experience that could not be better. This place will join the current group of 3 (now 4) of the best culinary experiences Iโve ever had in my life (at 18). Also, everything else about the place and my experience, including its temperature, the service, and the toilets could not be better either.
Outstanding Indian Restaurant
Highest level Indian eatery anywhere, London, New York or Delhi. Quality of food excellent- service high, setting beautiful. Expensive yet worth it.
Best grilled lamb ever
Excellent Indian food with a very real vibe. Not snobby as you would expect a Michelin star restaurant, but casual. The cooks work the grill in front of the guests and everything is extremely fresh and mouth watering. It is not a traditional British curry place, so no papadoms with chutney on the table, which the server told us in no uncertain terms. The menu was bit confusing, even for experts on Indian food. We never really understood how to order exactly what we wanted, but it was all right in the end, because of the best - yes, the very best! - grilled lamb we have ever eaten in our lives! The kabobs were delicious, light and airy and beautifully spicy, the biryani was ok but not special. But that lamb. My goodness! The meat was succulent and juicy and fell off the bone, yet was still gnarly and charred from the fire. How they managed to slow cook, yet grill it I will never know, but that meat alone was worth five stars!
Pretentious, deconstructed random food
So called indian tapas, personally i think it is pretentious. Dishes sent out randomly, with too much time between each coming out. A particularly memorable example being the naan bread turning out on its own. Quite simply laughable, no idea how this is michellin star. Zero effort required with the presentation. In fairness some of the food was quite nice - but nothing special. I think they have cracked a great business model, average dishes, deconstructed and sent out when it suites the kitchen โฆ. And then charge for the privilege. The most random memorable moment i have ever had in an indian restaurant - being served roast duck leg, with mash potato and a slab of orange, if that is an indian dish, then rishi sunak is chinese.

Every time when I'm on London I Make sure to book at the Amaya restaurant .. thanks a lot for everyone and for everything
Amaya is exquisite.
I can't say enough exemplary things about this gem. The food is art, the staff impeccable, the decor and ambience outstanding. We each ordered the seven-course dinner. What a joy this find was.
Excellent dinner spot
Amazing, creative food and exceptional service in a lovely, sophisticated environment. The space is comfortable and vibrant and has a happy vibe. Iโve been twice and would go again, one of the best meals I had in London.
Wonderful dining experience in London.
We ordered ten of the small plates for two and were able to sample a wide range of dishes and flavors. Service was outstanding. Our servers.assisted us with specific recommendations based on our preferences. It's upscale and pricey. Dinner for two with a couple drinks was over 250 pounds. I will definitely return when in London again.
One of the best, if not actually the best Indian experience.
The place and service were great. The food was absolutely amazing, we took the tasting menu and everything was great.
Amaya is such a hidden gem! We did the pre fixe lunch
Amaya is such a hidden gem! We did the pre fixe lunch platter and it was a wonderful amount of food and great for someone like me who always wants to try a bite of everything on the menu. I did the full lunch platter which came with 7 different dishes from plus naan. My friend did the vegetarian version which had most of the same items except the 2 proteins which were replaced with vegetarian dishes. The space is super modern and clean and our server was friendly. I love the open kitchen and fun interior design
We come to Amaya every time we are in London.
.. It's the first reservation I make and it never disappoints. We've been coming here for years and I always have my old time favorites dishes and I seem to find something new to add to the repertoire. The food is excellent... drinks are amazing whether it's a cocktail special or just a simple glass of wine. The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting, the service was terrific. It's always a treat!
This is Indian fusion, not Indian food (example - baby lamb
This is Indian fusion, not Indian food (example - baby lamb chops with an Indian spice rub). I didn't think the food was very good - too heavily seasoned instead of being traditionally marinated. The service was fantastic, as was the wine. Too many other amazing Indian restaurants in London to go back to this one
Some excellent dishes with high quality ingredients.
Expensive drinks as can be expected for a high end restaurant. Tandoor dishes excellent, especially the lamb kebab.
Delicious food
Delicious Indian cuisine great service, and cozy ambiance. is a delightful blend of flavors, aromas, each dish is a masterpiece. Highly recommended
So happy to have stumbled upon this gem of a place.
We got the platter where we could try all their highlights on the lunch menu and it was amazing. My favorite bite was the fish and we also ordered the biriyani additional which was also a standout. Everything on that platter was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and the drinks and service were all fantastic. The ambience is nice but isn't necessarily standout and it was quite empty during lunch when we went but didn't take away from the experience. And maybe this place deserves more hype! Oh and the drinks were also fab!
I have been going to Amaya for years for good reason.
The food is excellent as is the service. While it's mainly Indian staples they do introduce some orthogonal dishes as part of their tasting menu. It is impressive that they have maintained this consistency over all these years.
Amaya has been around for a long time and competes against
Amaya has been around for a long time and competes against many excellent Indian restaurants in London but the service and food remain exceptional. The tasting menu continues to evolve keeping a mix of tandoori, rice and naan dishes with more modern appetizers, desserts and seafood dishes. The cocktails are refreshing and well matched to the menu. The price is pretty good considering it's a Michelin one star and the cost of the tasting menu without wine is very near what you would pay for high tea. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Only word of caution is that it's hot in the summer. Dress appropriately
Authentic, exotic and my favorite
This is the highest level of Indian food, I found in London. It got a Michelin star for a good reason. Fantastic food experience, with a firework of flavors. I loved the cocktails and the share food concept. It is not the typical stiff Michelin star restaurant, more a cool, trendy location with excellent food and atmosphere. Just can be recommended.

I loved everything about Amaya! The food was delicious with beautiful presentation. The drinks were creative and the service was superb! The ambiance was unique and you see the warm welcome smiles from the front staff once you arrived at the door! Amaya is the restaurant where I would go if I only had time for one meal in London. Thank you Amaya!
Superb Indian.
Really surprised by the ambience and decoration. Itโs so pretty. Food is excellent and delicious. We have captain Tyson George helping us with the ordering and all his recommendations wee top notched. Itโs seriously good. Nothing I had before could match this level of taste and presentation.

Exceptional all around--first class place! Each part of the meal was meticulously prepared and beautifully presented. The chili paneer was a sneaky good surprise, the oyster "early" selection was magnificent, the Tandoori duck was fab (as was the kebab) and the roghan josh was sublime, followed by a great mango plus ice cream dessert. Terrific!
Very good (Indian) food, though not in the michelin range
Good food, just not gooed enough for what you expect in case of the michelin-star. I have had the chance to compare this with another michelin-starred Indian restaurant and hoped it would bring the same experience... unfortunately it did not. Service was fast and unpersonal, again, not what you expect with a michelin-star restaurant.
Good fine dining experience!!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a dinner at Amaya. The overall experience was good. The staff were very very courteous and friendly. We opted for the ala carte option and ordered mocktails, lassi, 2 chicken starters and gravy with rice/roti. The quality and taste of food was quite nice. Thank you to Amaya staff for surprising us with a beautiful Anniversary dessert cake..it was really awesome!! :)
Perfect meal every time! I am already looking forwards to
Perfect meal every time! I am already looking forwards to my next trip to London and Amaya.
Disappointed with a restaurant we recommend all the time.
The food was good as it always is. We have been going to Amaya for years. This time we were very disappointed as the restaurant did not let us take our food home with us. I think this is such a waste and we have paid for it. We have never experienced this with any other restaurant whether itโs 3 Michelin star or 1. This shows arrogance from a restaurant! We have t been there since. I also emailed the owners but have not received a reply and that was soon after we have been.
Excellent in every way!
Beautiful evening, service excellent, food amazing! Loved that you accommodated our corner table request too. So, important when people make requests as can make or break an evening. Thanks to everyone involved for a great experience!
Food, drinks, service and ambia always topform.
one of our most favorite London restaurants.
Winter disaster
Food not for Indian taste catered more for Arabs. The biryani was tasty & well cooked but everything else was a disappointment . The taster menu is not worth it!
Consistently delectable
This Indian is top notch iconic eatery Iโve been going for decades. tandoori chicken is perfection, prawn too Pleasant atmosphere, always busy.
Truly an incredible dining experience! Amaya's Michelin
Truly an incredible dining experience! Amaya's Michelin star is well deserved! You absolutely must try the Black Pepper Chicken Tikka, the King Scallops, the Goat's Cheese & Yogurt Kebab, and the Chicken Curry. This might be my top restaurant ever! If you love Indian food, you simply must try!
Delicious food but questionable value for money
The food was very tasty but the portion sizes were not at all value for money. One of our party was still hungry after dinner!
Really excellent
Amaya is an Indian restaurant with a difference. The food is well presented and very tasty. Service exemplary and whilst a bit pricy itโs worth it.
Gurleen 10/10.
Excellent food and brilliant service and assistance from Gurleen. Gurleen was helpful and professional taking time to explain the items and offer recommendations. Top class employee and a great asset to Amaya.
I hate to say it but not worth the huge bill!
This was my 4th visit and I was truly shocked at the pricing. I really do not mind paying up for really great food and service but for 2 of us food and 1 beer each and 1 soft drink it came to ยฃ302. Yes we had 2 prawns to start with 2 scallops. We had 4 lamb chops a small chicken tika and 2 currys with rice. The Prawns and scallops were fantastic as was the chicken tika but the currys were not a patch on Masala Zone or Chutney Marys. Very ordinary and not at all spicy. At ยฃ32 per portion it was a let down. The Chops also were nothing special and I have had better in many local restaurants but these were ยฃ48 for 4 small chops and they were over cooked. I think like a lot of restaurants the prices have increased disproportunately. My fear for Amaya is that many customers will not return unless the food meets the pricing, or the pricing meets the food. the atmosphere was superb along with the service and the majority of the food was really good. Was it worth ยฃ302, absolutely not.
Definitely deserving of the star! Exquisite.
Be prepared. It is not your typical Indian restaurant , so don't come expecting your regular Butter chicken. Tyson curated our experience, describing each dish in detail. Well worth it
Food and service were excellent.
Portion size was the smallest I've ever had and far to expensive. 5 people came out to over 1,000 GBP! Not worthy of a Michelin rating, not enough, not worth it in any way. The worst part was the table of unruly, loud and disgusting patrons behind us. No manners! Wild animals act better! At one point the man at the table of his WIVES and children spit on the floor next to my family member who was wearing a dress. He thought she shouldn't wear such revealing clothing outside and cursed at the whole table telling us we are heathens and that women shouldn't be seen and that our men should punish us women. Welcome to the 21st century London. If men from other places can't deal with women wearing and saying what they want they shouldn't dine out in London! Disgusting behavior and the restaurant did nothing.
Power food and service.
Consistently good year after year. We will be back next trip. Great location and quiet.
The most amazing Indian food served Tapas style.
For a group of 4, plan on at least 6 dishes and don't be afraid to experiment. The vegetarian foods are outstanding. M favorite is the lamb chops and the sea bass. Go For It!!
Flavor was exceptional, service was flawless and the vibe
Flavor was exceptional, service was flawless and the vibe in restaurant was magical. We can't wait to return.
The welcome at the door was friendly.
When we were sat at our table, the attention given to us by our waiter was amazing; timely and not intrusive. He asked us if we'd been there before (which we hadn't) and then gave us a briefing in the restaurant and the menu. We went for the non-vegetarian menu and we're really impressed with all the dishes. As each course was presented to us, we were given an explanation of what was in the table. That helped as you tend to forget what is in a tasting menu! All the dishes tasted so good. We will definitely be coming back here again.
Nothing about this restaurant is Michelin.
Nope. Sorry. Nada. Good enough food. But nothing worth the $ or hype.
Promised a lot but failed to deliver
Service not attentive. Ordered ice and drinks menu several times before being delivered to table. Had taster menu and would expect waiter to let us know the dishes when placing on table which is part of the experience.
Anniversary Lunch
We were very much looking forward to our special day at Amaya , It was our first experience of a Michelin star restaurant almost 14 years ago ! However we were diss appointed ! The taster menu seemed to set for 2 people if you were non- vegetarian ! So if one of you was a veggie you could not order .. The platter which we ordered one being non- veg and the other being veggie tasted really good and so was the presentation! However, the non- veg platter almost like a 60/40 split between the veggie and non/ vegetarian platter. I asked the service team why ? They gave us an explanation stating that it was a balanced approach and that the menu did not say non- veg platter but the TASTE of AmaYa- .. it kind of does not make sense .. We have been to many starred restaurants and sampled their food . Anyways apart from this the service and food was really good . But for the above experience I would have given 4/5 stars
Excellent food
The food was excellent. Everything was good but the sea bass was out of this world - we ordered a 2nd portion! I really liked having the food served as it had been cooked. Nice decoration and good service as well.
