Angele Restaurant & Bar Napa Reviews from The Last Year
The food is amazing at Angele, but even more so the staff
The food is amazing at Angele, but even more so the staff are absolutely committed to extraordinary hospitality. Chris went above and beyond all expectations to ensure we had an incredible experience in Napa. We really appreciated his team's dedication - we will be back!!
First stop of our Napa trip.
My boyfriend surprised me and brought me to this cute restaurant for lunch I ordered the artichoke salad and they brought me fried artichokes so I sent them back. The waiter was very apologetic. Bf ordered the caviar with a salad. My fave bean salad arrived and it has 4 tiny artichoke hearts in it. The dressing is kind of tangy. The waiter is AWESOME and adorable.
This restaurant has quickly become one of my new favorites
This restaurant has quickly become one of my new favorites in Downtown Napa. Not only is it located perfectly along the water, the service is excellent and the food never disappoints. We arrive for a late dinner and the waitstaff were diligently turning on and moving the heaters to make sure my party was comfortable. I love their tower of fries that comes in a teracotta pot it's so cute! And definitely a must have for the table to start. The steak Taretare is phenomenal, I opted to put it on the bread they provided rather than the chips it came with but it nevertheless a must try. I was with a party of 4 people and each of us truly enjoyed our entrees. I ordered the Leek Soup to start and it was light and flavorful, but my friend's french onion soup also looked really tasty so I definitely made a mental note to order that next time. I had never had the pasta I ordered before and I was impressed with not only the beautiful presentation of the food but the overall experience and quality. The portion was good and it left me satisfied. For dessert we had both the chocolate mousse and the Bread Pudding and while both were delicious the Bread Pudding was my favorite. Highly recommend trying this place out if you haven't already.
Food is always delicious.
... The service we had on May 10th for our 12:15 reservations was terrible. The beautiful older blond lady took our appetizer requests, said she'd be back to take our lunch order, she never came back again. She served many tables around us, but never made eye contact and never checked on us again. The manager came around about an hour later offering us a dessert menu, but when I said we are still waiting to order our lunch order, she was curt and cut my sentence off. There was a lot of other things that made me and my guest uncomfortable during our entire lunch visit. Things like more ice and more bread that never came. The entire visit to Angele left a bad impression. It will be a while before we ever go back if at all.
Such a lovely restaurant with super staff!! They are always
Such a lovely restaurant with super staff!! They are always on point. The artichoke hearts were to die for!
Wonderful dining experience.
Angele is a great restaurant for either lunch or dinner. Lunch on the patio when the weather is nice is lovely, but we prefer inside as it is so French with the little olive plants and tiny candles in the windows. The food is always excellent and the service is most attentive. One of our favorites in Napa.
The location is so charming! The service by Anna was superb

Always the best expression of traditional French cuisine in
Always the best expression of traditional French cuisine in a quaint, romantic setting. Inside the once riverside boathouse or on the covered, shielded patio, the seasonal dishes are deeply imbued with French flair. Today the choices were the Salade Niçoise and Salade Lyonnaise. Both exquisitely composed and delicious. The nicçoise, a generous plating of little gems, tuna conserva, haricots verts, cucumber, olives, farm egg in what tasted like a shallot vinaigrette. Very fresh, flavorful with a touch of briny tartness from the olives with moist preserved tuna. Salad Lyonnaise was presented with tender frisée, warm lentils du puy braised with smoky chunks of lardons and a lightly poached farm egg that oozed eggy goodness all in a slightly sweet sherry vinaigrette. I started with the escargot and the champagne. Today's selection a Grand Cru. Absolutely gorgeous wine. Light straw color, Fine perlage, aromas of fresh stone fruit, brioche and tiny hints of lemon peel, creamy mouthfeel with a touch of flint and a long lemon curd finish. Delightful. The rest of the wine list covers some of the best french regional producers and the cocktails are brilliant. The snails were tender and resilient in a parsley garlic beurre blanc under puff pastry rounds. GARLIC, mmmmm. Service is always stellar and today was no different. We have been visiting this spot for many years and they never fail to deliver a great dining experience. Make your reservations by phone or the Tock app.
Really nice for special occasions.
The food was excellent. Very enjoyable. Service was very attentive. I hear that doggies may come to enjoy outdoor tent experience. The Riverwalk is good for after eating and drinking too much!

Food and service was great! I loved the French onion soup, escargots and croque Monsiuer with an egg. Our server got us out timely as we had reservations at a winery. Will definitely be back!
Food was great! Service was great! They surprised us with
Food was great! Service was great! They surprised us with complimentary champagne for our anniversary. We got the puff pastry escargot. My wife usually doesn't like escargot, but the puff pastry made it very yummy together. The truffle pasta was very creamy and delicious. My wife liked the braised beef and fries. Overall great experience and loved the food. Would come back again.
Not as good as the reviews
We had high expectations of Angèle given the reviews. Experience was not as good. Our table was in a tent next to a gas heater. We each had a cocktail, shared a half bottle of white wine and ordered chicken and risotto. The risotto was excellent, the chicken was nothing special. Service was ok. We felt rushed and dinner lasted about an hour. The bill was over $200. Price paid was not commensurate with the dining experience.
Hate writing this review as our experience was not what it
Hate writing this review as our experience was not what it was because of the restaurant or the food but more because of the staff. I have been here once before when I was in town and had a really great meal in the dining room but the other night when I went it was different. My co-worker and I sat at the bar because the concierge at the hotel suggested that it is one of the best seats in Napa. We were happily greeted and were brought to the bar where someone named Chris helped us. I eat out a lot when traveling for business and never leave reviews because I have never felt the need to but this terrible experience changed that. Chris had so much attitude and it was as if he did not care if we were there or not. It was busy but when we asked nicely if he had any updates on our food he simply said "NO" and walked away. Then we literally watched him take dirty plates and silverware away, wipe down the bar without washing his hands and then proceeded to continue serving guests drinks and food! I know people are not as concerned about Covid but come on that is just unsanitary. The food finally came and it was good probably because by that time we were pretty grossed out. It is a shame that one bad apple can have this affect but hopefully management can address the problem so others don't have the same experience and more importantly that patrons do not get sick. I would love to go back but will sit in the dining room next time so we don't have to deal with the sassy and nasty bartender.
My first visit to Angéle.
The food was great. Enjoyed the oysters and French onion soup especially. I was so disappointed in our server, Tammy T. Several times, my guests and I were scolded for our questions. I asked if the Niciose salad had seared Ahi. Tammy told me that Angéle served a traditional Niciose salad. I asked again. "Is it served with seared Ahi?" Again, she repeated that it was a traditional Niciose salad which is never served with seared Ahi. She told me it is always served with canned fish. Sorry, but that is just not true, and I loved Niciose salad and have only ever had it served to me with seared Ahi. I asked if the Croque Monsieur was served on bread, and this annoyed Tammy. I asked what kind of bread, and she said regular bread. I asked French, no, she again said regular bread. I asked wheat, sourdough, or rye? She said no. We ordered oysters, and Tammy put a wire rack in the middle of the table. While we were waiting for the oysters, my husband moved the rack to the window ledge so he could pass the bread and butter to our guests on the other side of the table. This annoyed Tammy, and she immediately put the rack back even though there were no oysters in sight. My husband asked a question about a French wine and if it was a GSM. Tammy just said I don't know, she never offered to show us the bottle nor did she try to ask someone with more wine knowledge, which frankly is unacceptable when working at a high end restaurant in NAPA. My husband left to go back to work. The 3 of us were catching up, my friends were visiting from Laguna Beach, and Tammy actually interrupted us to ask if we wanted more still water! My husband and I agreed that next we'll just ask the manager for a server who actually likes their job. Our tab was $300.
Disappointed with this place food is halfway decent.
However, the owner seems to always have a problem. You can see it in her face she's not approachable .
Lovely! We have heard of this place but never went and then
Lovely! We have heard of this place but never went and then we did and it was lovely! Sat outside..very fun and festive! The food was outstanding! Bean salad dressed perfectly! Hot dog is a must! Fries a plenty like a huge flower pot worth so maybe get a smaller size! artichokes deep fried...spot on. omelet needed better truffle flavor but still good! chocolate mousse was fluffy and chocolaty and lovely!!!! drinks yummy!!! service was spot on!!! well done!
So received a recommendation to go to this restaurant and
So received a recommendation to go to this restaurant and made a reservation for tonight. When we got to the restaurant, they seated us at a two top and I asked if we could sit at the bar for dinner. There was a lot of chat, but then they did ultimately seat us at the bar. We ordered dinner and had one glass of wine. As we were finishing dessert, our bartender/waiter came to us and said that his boss was giving him the stink eye, and that we had to go. I've never been treated this way at the end of a meal by a restaurant. Will not recommend this restaurant in the future. Our entire dinner lasted less than one hour, and we were asked to leave! Someone should have notified us that we were only able to stay for less than an hour.
Food was excellent (we had sweetbreads and dorade), service
Food was excellent (we had sweetbreads and dorade), service excellent. Cozy with a nice up-beat customer vibe.
I'm sorry to say the second time is NOT the charm
This is my second time to Angele. The first time was on an extremely hot day (100+ f) in the summer and there was no air conditioning in the restaurant. The food was heavy and it was too hot to thoroughly enjoy. I didn't write a review at that time because I didn't think it would be fair. I decided to give it another chance and go in the winter so here we are in February. Ironically, my husband and I were seated at the same table we dined at during our last visit which was in a corner right by the check-in desk. Pros: good selection of Napa Valley wines as well as French wines. It was a full house with a lively crowd (translation: a bit loud). Concrete floors, hard surfaces, and not enough fabric to absorb the sound (tablecloths aren't enough). The fried artichoke hearts were as expected, as were the mussels, and the sweetbreads with lemon on top were delicious. Cons: Server Ben G. only made eye contact and addressed my husband while ignoring me until it came time to sign the bill. The steak tartare was too salty - and I've had this dish many times before, just not here. Conclusion: Angele fell short and with so many other excellent restaurants in the area, we won't be returning for a third time. "WAS" a restaurant that I loved. Domino effect as I will never recommend this place. Word gets around in a small town.
I have been coming to Angele for 5 years and last night I brought my boyfriend for his birthday dinner. We had 5:30 reservations and we were the only ones on the outside veranda. They seated us at a table where we could not really push in our chairs as the table foot was so large. We asked the waiter if we could move. I found him sarcastic as he said ..." well we got a busy night". We were the only ones there and by the end of our meal which was 1 hour 15 minutes later, the outside veranda was just getting busy. Anyway, the whole point of us coming last night was for the Beef Bourguignon that we always enjoyed before at your restaurant . It was terrible. The meat was tough and dry (Beef Bourguignon is all about the meat that is to be flaky and soft) It was dried up like it sat in the kitchen for awhile. The sauce was also dried up. We were so disappointed. I told the Maitre D who was very nice and he said he would convey it to the chef. Anyway, the service from the waiter was below average at best as he was a wisecracker. I believe there must of been a miscommunication between the kitchen and waiter between our appetizer and main dish. I work in the hospitality business and understand the hard work involved so I still gave a 20% tip as I am polite, unlike our waiter. I will not return to Angele for a very very long time.
Very good food, but on the pricey side
Very good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, but a bit overprized, especially drinks. Reservation is probably necessary.
Good
Very good food, service and ambiance. Just be sure to take all your personal belongings with you as you leave. Otherwise they are “lost” even though you call to ask for them just a few hours you left This do not speak very well about the staff….
Excellent Experience
Super service in bar & restaurant. Outdoor restaurant lovely setting Luncheon appetizers & main courses delicious & abundant.
Birthday Celebration
Celebrated my Birthday here! Ambiance, food and wait staff was exceptional. Kudos to Maricio who serve out table by himself and was super gracious! Mariah managed my event from beginning to end recommending the florist and bakery for my cake Sweetie Pies Bakery. The kitchen was a bit slow...we waited quite a while about 35 min for our entrées, but everything was beautifully plated and delicious!! Even the lovely restaurant guests chimed in with my Happy Birthday song! Super sweet & incredibly special! Highly recommend...just have lots of time, tres Français! Merci!
Delightful in all ways!
Beautiful spot on the water; fabulous dinner prepared with excellence, first class service! Lives up to its reputation!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

@AssuringStretch11 It's definitely within your rights to tell the potential seller that the new arrangement doesn't work for you and ask them to stop working on your bid if that's all they can guarantee. Perhaps another seller can step in and do better for you. Also, in general you're allowed to ask someone holding your bid to stop working on it at any time and cancel it.
