Service was excellent, food outstanding! Steamed
Service was excellent, food outstanding! Steamed asparagus with poached egg hollandaise. Warmed bread with French butter. Main courses delish. I had the baked Aubergine and my fellow diners both had the Dover sole meuniere. They were happy to leave one fish on the bone and one off respective of the diners wishes. Not a single bone on the filet was found. We enjoyed all of this while sipping a 2014 Vincent Girardin Les Vielles Vignet Bourgogne (White Burgundy). Our host knew that the wine needed time to open up, and he was extremely attentive while we waited. Everything was delicious! I travel through London a few times a year and like to stay close to Hyde Park. I happened across this restaurant by accident this year but will go back for every visit from now on. Our entire experience was superior. Don't pass this place up if you can help it. We went on early a Saturday evening which is not a busy time for them which I'm sure further ensured a delightful experience.
Be the first to ReplyGood not great.
The soufflé very nice. Escarole needed seasoning fresh veggies slightly under whelming. Ok
Be the first to ReplyFrench food still the best (or my fav) even in London.
Went there for a work function. Ordered smoked salmon and crab meat, Parmesan with avocado purée to start, pan speared sea bass for main course and finished with lychee and passion fruit bavarois with red fruit coulis. Everything was delicious, well made, great presentation to fine detail. It is not budget eating place, but worth every penny.

We booked a 10:30am reservation thru Open Table, and even got another reservation confirmation the day before we were supposed to have breakfast there. Unfortunately when we arrived, they said they weren't open til 11:30am! They looked up our reservation and it was there in their system for 10:30am. They said sorry, and suggested we go next door to a very casual place next door. I can't speak to their food, obviously, but that's very poor service for any restaurant, and not an oversight I'd ever expect in a Michelin Starred establishment. At the very least, I'd expect them to at least have their correct hours on their reservation partners, and to call or email if there's a problem instead of just letting us show up and be told they weren't open. I told them Open Table was taking reservations at 10:30 as if yesterday and today those hours are still available to be booked online. So they may have great food, but the service is poor & disrespectful.

Hesitated because of some very negative reviews, but glad I went! Alone, with a layover in London, just looking for a quiet place with good food. This was charming with great food. Attentive friendly service for a single diner. Extras: amuse bouche, little home made cakes with the good coffee after dinner. This will be a regular place when spending the night near Paddington!
Be the first to ReplyOne of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.
Cold soup and a putative vegetarian dish that was a piece of bread with vegetables on top. Escaped to Indian restaurant across the street. Beware.

The waiting staff were attentive but didn't smile much at all.I ordered the recommended "Creme brulee" which was delicious, but the portion was far too big.but I guess they had the justify the ridiculously high price tag that went with it.Into the mains. I have to say I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this meal. The waiter had highly recommended it hence I expected something amazing...on par with the stater.especially as it cost around the £30 mark. What my friends and I received was a slab of overcooked meat which looked and tasted like a cheap piece of pork chop. Underneath was a small piece of potato or something. A total disappointment. Finally, the small bites that came with the teas and coffee tasted and looked burnt hence we had to leave most of it aside.Unfortunately, after that experience. None of us will returning.

Ambiance A+, wine, A++, main course A (the fish and veal could have used a bit more seasoning but that's the only bad thing I can say), the cheese plate A+, and finally the banana soufflé was A+++ like eating a cloud of deliciousness. The service was top notch as well so if you can get a reservation, trust me and GO!!!

Flawless evening there last night, delicious plates, priced competitively, ideal space, just-right staff. God bless the goose. Looking forward already to my next visit.

An absolutely charming meal! There is zero reason this place shouldn't be packed each night, do yourself a service and make a booking that shall impress your friends, family, etc. You'll look super smart, too. Yelpers are right about this one, most definitely. We were hard pressed to find a restaurant a bit more "down to earth" whilst staying in uber fancy Knightsbridge, so luckily a quick search pointed me through Hyde Park north to the lovely Angelus. Tucked into Bathhurst Street, it was the perfect dining destination to ring in year 4 of being married. We wanted something nice to celebrate our anniversary, but not...opulent/over the top. Angelus fit the bill perfectly. We arrived a bit early or our reservation and opted to have a few glasses of red wine on the sidewalk seating before coming in for dinner. We were escorted in, sat at a The service is the stuff dreams are made of. I am not kidding, one time I picked up my last bite of bread and the plate had disappeared to ready the table for the next course before it reached my mouth. ON POINT doesn't even begin to describe it. And not just efficient, but friendly (as friendly as French guys get, right? Yes!) We felt welcome the entire evening from start to finish. The food, yes -- that too was fantastic! I enjoyed the beef tartare and the chicken, both gorgeous, rich and decadent. The menu is truly French, not French-British or French-American so do be prepared to see snails and the like. Yum, you'll like it if you give it a try. They event sent out a small anniversary plate for us with some delectable little desserts. Such a pleasant London meal -- Angelus boasts old school charm, but with all the polish and sophistication of its West London location. Service, food, ambience - 5 stars.
