So let me start by saying nothing was bad. I am dissatisfied from 2 perspectives, the first is from experience. We have visited the Barn several times over the years, usually celebrating an anniversary or something. They have previously always made us feel special and treated us well. The second perspective is simply on price, for what the ask, everything should be over the top. We went this past weekend and started off with a 30 minute wait despite having reservations. The waitress was nice and brought us an appetizer 'on the house'; unfortunately neither of us could eat due to our particular diet restrictions, we mentioned we could take it home for our kids but she just took it away and didn't offer anything else. The cracker's and cheese spread were kinda boring (I seem to remember a more welcoming starter in years past). Bread and honey butter were next, again, not bad but just ok. I had a salad, my wife soup. the salad was just lettuce with one ring of onion on it and bits of shredded carrots (sorta like the bags at the grocery, I don't think that's what they're doing right?). Prime rib was delicious as was the creamed spinach. My wife loved her filet but found the mushrooms lacking. Decent food but again we are paying $50-60 an entrée; should this be more than just ok? The final issue? No anniversary cake. I know it was free and I know we didn't expect it the first time we went but being blessed with a take home pound cake was something we looked forward to. Maybe they don't do that anymore? In summary... the food was good but not good enough to justify the price, I think this may be our last visit. Fine dining price for steakhouse food.
