Antidote Brooklyn Reviews from The Last Year
Food, atmosphere, service were great.
The only thing , you need to make a reservation. This place is packed.
Decor and ambiance is A+ but the restaurant was a bit
Decor and ambiance is A+ but the restaurant was a bit chilly. A couple of the other customers and I were still wearing our jackets inside the restuarant. However, the food is just like any other average Szechuan food out there. Started the meal off with the "Scallion Pancake" which was good, the sauce was sweet and the pancakes were crispy. Ordered the "Sui Mai with Tea Smoked Duck" which was pretty salty, wasn't worth the price to be honest. Sautéed string beans was also good but too salty. The Dandan noodle was fresh and good. The Dongpo pork and crab fried rice was actually my favorite but it was also just... average in my opinion. However the price for the entire meal was extremely fair. If you want good asian food around Brooklyn, Antidote is worth going to due to it's price and it definitely does reflect what Szechuan food is supposed to taste like.

This food was sooo delicious! Beck, our waiter, was so helpful and fun -- we had a great date night here. Absolutely coming back for the crab fried rice and crab tofu!
2.5/5 Finally got the chance to try antidote and I wasn't
2.5/5 Finally got the chance to try antidote and I wasn't particularly wowed by it tbh. Pros - very extensive menu with a ton of options! Really liked the shrimp dish because the shrimp was large, juicy, and had a ton of flavor. Also liked the baiju cocktail! It had a lot of different flavor profiles that blended together in a good way. Portion sizes were also large! Also the interior design was very cute and cozy. Cons - I think they went for presentation over flavor a lot of the time. For example, the blossom fish was DROWNED in sauce - yes it looked cool but it felt unnecessary and just made it overly saucy. The Dan Dan noodles had a great flavor but were kind of cold when they came out. There wasn't enough crab in the crab tofu and it was a little overly egg yolky for me.

We got a bunch of things to share but everything was just ok to me. I didn't love the texture of the crab tofu, and the duck had a whole lot of bones. The main thing I liked was the sesame cold noodle. Also our cocktails were very good.
4.5 stars! The restaurant has great vibes, very romantic
4.5 stars! The restaurant has great vibes, very romantic with plants and beautiful lights. We were sat down next to a wall with a row of travels for 2. I think these tables are too close together for my preference but that's NYC for you. The staff also sat the next party of 2 right next to us when there were so many other tables on either of our sides. My sense of space might be different from most New Yorkers. I got the baijiu cocktail, and it was refreshing. The food was also amazing. I really enjoyed the crab tofu. The rib eye cubes were good too but I expected more spice for sichuan restaurant. The service was good. The staff was attentive, they kept asking us if we were done eating, even though there were a lot of other empty tables. The restaurant accepts reservation and would be a cute spot for dates or groups.
food here was yummy and up to my chinese expectations!
food here was yummy and up to my chinese expectations! everything was well seasoned and perfectly textured. you can rely on this place to serve you right! ambiance was cute but very LOUD. my friend and i got so tired of yelling at each other. it was def an ouch to the wallet so i prob won't come back again for that reason since I think there are more reasonably priced options that deliver similar quality of food.
On a Friday evening, I walked in and tried to put my name
On a Friday evening, I walked in and tried to put my name down for a table for two but all the tables were supposedly booked for the entirety of the night. Walk ins were only allowed at the bar area. When I returned an hour later, we had to put our names down for a 30-40 minute wait at the bar. By 7/8pm, the restaurant was incredibly busy and jammed packed. The ambience of the place is definitely phenomenal with the lighting and decor. There's also jazz music on Wednesday nights. Once we were seated, the servers were all pretty nice as well. In terms of the food, we got garlic peashoots, twice cooked pork, and crab tofu. It is worth noting that rice does not come with the dishes and are $2 each. My personal favorite was the twice cooked pork but everything was pretty good. I liked the flavors of everything but will admit the pork was a bit oily and the peashoots could've used slightly more flavor. While the prices were a bit on the high end, the portions were quite generous and everything we ordered was more than enough for two people.

I had the pleasure to dine at Antidote tonight, place was busy, but our waitress Beck made us feel like we were the only ones there. Food was fantastic and large portioned, drinks were equally tasty. Beck suggested and explained a few food and drinks items and didn't disappoint, she did an amazing job considering how busy the place was. I will definitely come visit again next time I'm In the area.
