More then Michelin
This Restaurant is more then Michelin, my experience there was unique. What a fantastic Wine, delicious food and lovely team. Such a memorable evening.
Be the first to ReplyIt was amazing
Our first time here. Beautiful location, ambiance is elegant and casual, all in one. Favourite part of the evening was the manager. He was very attentive and come over and extremely personable. ( You don’t see that anymore) we had delicious appetisers! Grilled calamari, octopus and salad. Our main courses were all delicious. I didn’t have room for dessert, bring it I forced myself.
Be the first to ReplyGreat night with the relatives
Very nice night with Kathy,Anike,Cathy, J.R. , Chris and myself. First time at Aretsky's. Didnt even know of it. Very nice inside, old fashioned. I had Caesar Salad and Filet which was good a little well done. J.R. had the oysters and pork chop which he said was very good. Chris had the dover sole which was ok Kathy had the halibit which was fair A very fun night as usual. Service was good.
Be the first to ReplyClassic NYC steakhouse
This is a classic fine dining steakhouse/seafood place in MidTown. Very close to Grand Central. Excellent steak, chops, and seafood. On the expensive side. Tends to be very corporate since there are so many financial firms and law firms nearby. In the past, I have eaten in its private rooms which are suitable for business events. The owner, Ken Aretsky, is a usually very visible in front.
Be the first to ReplyStellar Service and a Great Experience
Aretskys Patroon Friends and I went to this wonderful restaurant after reading so many stellar reviews. The great reviews are spot on, Aretskys Patroon is fantastic. First and foremost, the staff, (from the hostess/greeter to the host/owner to the waitstaff) are such accommodating, polished, warm and attentive professionals. We felt utterly welcomed and cared for from the moment we arrived until the moment we left (hours later). The staff anticipated our every need and the service was impeccably flawless. The menu has very appealing choices for everyone, (carnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians, keto and gluten free patrons… ALL have tasty options.) We opted to share the endive and radicchio salad with pear and blue cheese and grilled octopus as appetizers. Both were delicious. While red meat may be the star at Aretskys, we all opted for fish, and it was scrumptious. Most notable was the poached lobster and heart of palm “pasta” (delicious, low carb, keto friendly and gluten free…. FINALLY a smart chef is offering keto friendly “pasta”.) The wine list is well curated and extensive. The cocktails are very good. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the staff made our all female table feel extremely comfortable. Don’t leave this great restaurant without having the beignets (one order was plenty as 4 tasty beignets with chocolate and vanilla sauces comprise an order). The truly incredible service, great food and pleasant ambiance make Aretskys Patroon a terrific restaurant and we can’t wait to return!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food and service
We ate here because the restaurant is featured in Stuart Woods' Stone Barrington novels. We are glad we did because the food and service lived up to expectations, even exceeding it. Our waiter told us not to order four shrimp in the shrimp cocktail but only two. The shrimp were the biggest I've ever seen and four would have been a whole dinner. We had the Dover sole (Stone's favorite) and the sirloin steak, both excellent. The owner, Ken Aretzky, came to our table, talked with us for a while and then greeted us on our way out.
Be the first to ReplyBeware of functions
This was our second visit to Aretsky’s Patroon and based on our first experience in 2021, we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, there was a function on the roof that definitely affected the flow, service and food that our foursome received. First, service was sporadic. Sometimes it was spot on, other times we waited a bit too long. They tried to keep it rolling but I knew something was wrong when there was a 30 -40 minute lull between delivering menus, letting us know that there were three specials that evening (that were all sold out), and finally taking our orders. I also waited way too long after requesting (not a good thing) my water glass be re-filled….so long that after several minutes, I almost got up with my glass to find some water (and make a point) Alcoholic beverages were served and re-offered efficiently and repeatedly which was nice for my guests. The food was average at best. My sirloin was over cooked and the hand cut french fries were served warm (not sizzling hot) and thus were stale and below standard in 5 minutes. Oysters were good except the West Coast examples were not “right”. My guests enjoyed their meals but there was not an overwhelming cheer from them and one left 1/2 of his food uneaten. No one asked how our food was during or after the meal. The owner stopped in to say hello which is a nice touch but it falls short if he isn’t available later in the evening to hear criticism or compliments. The atmosphere and energy are excellent and hard to beat…albeit a bit on the noisy side of the spectrum. Sadly disappointed

Flawless food, warm and attentive service, fantastic wine list. Beautiful rooftop dining. Wide range of price points. Flawless service. Everything on the menu was appealing so difficult to make a choice. Lively crowd but tables well spaced.
Be the first to ReplyDelectable food and fabulous service
I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful establishment at the start of March 2020 during my first trip to New York City. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. I felt like a VIP, the hostess was so kind, taking our coats and could not be more friendly. Then the service during the whole meal was the best I have ever had, the waiter was so helpful, friendly and most importantly funny! We also were greeted and a had a conversation with the owner during our meal. We were thoroughly spoilt and treated wonderfully.
Moving on to the food, we visited on a Friday evening and I was able to have a set menu with wine pairings which was fantastic value, especially for New York. We also were treated to an amuse bouche and petit fours alongside our courses, so we left very full and happy. For me the star of the show was the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly. I cannot wait to return to New York City and once again visit a restaurant which made my stay feel even more special.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Classic NYC steak house
This is a classic NYC steak hous with a lot of atmosphere. Good bar and several private dining rooms who are great for business dinners. Food is good, service is very professional but was at our visit a bit too rushed for my taste...
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Attended a group dinner, way too loud to have a conversation, service really slow. Crab cake was the best I have ever had, however the filet was underwhelming (tough, chewy, lots of silver skin and undercooked for medium (cold center).
Be the first to ReplyGreat bar and restaurant — good service and not too loud, so easy to talk
Great, restaurant and bar for business drinks and dinner. Conveniant midtown location. Unlike most restaurants in the area, it’s quiet enough to have a conversation and the staff respects their customers providing excellent service, while not rushing you. I will definitely return in the future.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Food, Service and Ambience
Aretsky’s was a strong recommendation from a personal friend and definitely exceeded all expectations. I wanted a special meal for my wife’s 50th Birthday and we were certainly not let down. This is an exceptional restaurant with a wonderful ambience and superb staff, conveniently located. The food was excellent (would particularly recommend the crab cakes - best ever !) without being over-priced and we were allocated a lovely corner table in a quieter part of the restaurant. A huge thank you to all the staff for ensuring that the Birthday celebrations were fitting for the big occasion.
Be the first to ReplyHoliday Staff Lunch was fantastic!
Melaines and the Aretsky's Patroon staff were wonderful! The event was planned exceptionally well, with every detail laid out ahead of time. The prix-fixe menu was wonderful, and everything tasted fantastic! The private room was great and all of the servers were top-notch.
Would absolutely recommend for a private holiday event!
Wedding at the restaurant
The entire restaurant was booked and used for the event. The roof was the setting for the service. There was a bar, musicians, and appetizers. On the main floor of the restaurant was an additional bar and the sit down meal. The tables were lovely, decorated with floating flowers in different size vases. The service during the meal was very good. The wine was very good. There were three options for diner, including a secret vegetarian meal. First, the served a lovely salad or a crab cake. My friends said the bread was delicious, no gluten option which was disappointing but something I find in many good restaurants. Deserts were served on the roof area where they had dancing after diner. I loved the earlier Sat. time for diner. The reason I gave the review a 4 not a 5, is the oysters tasted off, there did not seem to be anyone giving any directions during the ceremony. They set up a tiny space to get the food so despite the nicely presented table, they had to constantly refill the table. People were confused were to stand as there was very little sitting. The bride and groom knew their guest list so the seating wasn’t necessary. The wedding ceremony was lovely and the couple looked gorgeous.
I am sure the dining experience is much different during diner. The things that would be the same are the pride the restaurant takes on the dining level, service, presentation, and food quality. At that level 5 stars, where they fell short, oysters, food flow on roof. The bar service was also very good and the servers on the roof were constantly clearing the few standing tables. They did an excellent job.
Old school steak house MadMen Style
This is such a cool place. Apparently very famous among Ad Industry. I was told it is an Old school steak house MadMen Style and when we went there I had to agree. Could be straight out of the show. Veeery new york and amazing meat.

Always great food and great service. The veal chop and duck entrees were both exceptional. Beautifully themed and delicious Halloween dessert. Thank you!
