Upon entering Aureole, I was very happy to see that there
Upon entering Aureole, I was very happy to see that there was a coat check room. The hostess sat us right away in the Liberty Room, which I believe is the room that everyone interested in the Restaurant Week menu is seated in. I liked the openness of the restaurant, and the decor (especially the candles) was lovely as well. From where I was sitting, there was a glass ceiling above, where we could see rows and rows of stored wine -- pretty interesting. The service throughout the evening was great -- our server was attentive, and each of our courses came out pretty quickly. A small touch that was nice was that every time someone left the table to use the restroom, someone would come by to fold their napkin. Speaking of the restrooms, I liked that there are separate rooms -- clean and smelled nice!To start -- we had a bowl of various kinds of bread and butter to spread. For my first course, I went with the squid, and I thought the combination of flavors and ingredients as well as the plating was nicely done. As the second course, I ordered the steak, and for anyone who is looking for an entree that is more filling, the steak is definitely the right choice. It's a pretty sizeable cut, and I loved the potato croquette that came with it. To finish, I ordered the red velvet cake. Although the dessert tasted more like mousse than cake, I absolutely loved it -- it was a great finish to the entire meal. If you're thinking of coming here for Restaurant Week -- I would highly recommend!

The taste hits the palate and sends out feel good neurotransmitters to your brain. The appetizers give you a fresh feeling and entrees are not heavy. The dessert hits the spot. Fine dining at its finest.

I had the team at Aureole cater a private in home event and I could not be happier with how it all turned out. I worked with Chef Erick Vargas Bromberg to create a menu and it was absolutely fantastic. The entire way through the process the catering team (Thomas Young) and chef were incredibly responsive, prompt, and intuitive. They were able to make adaptations to accommodate dietary restrictions (including kosher and actually sourcing kosher meat) and create a menu that all members of my group would be happy with. Chef Erick took the time to hear what we liked and then really adapted the menu to fit.As for the day of the event, everything went smoothly and the food was truly outstanding. Chef Erick arrived with support staff prior to the event to begin preparing the food. They were very considerate and friendly and always wore their masks covering their mouths and noses. He did a great job preparing food as we went through the meal such that everything was incredibly fresh. We did a tasting menu style and every single item was amazing. Chef Erick had really created this menu in such a thoughtful way and made every single component fresh. From a foie gras tart all the way through a dry aged beef filet, I was impressed. I really cannot say enough great things about this event - it really went above and beyond my expectations.

A post-theatre show dinner spot, I visited for restaurant week in early 2020. They have two seating areas with different qualifications for the special restaurant week menu, but despite seating us incorrectly they were flexible with the menu options. Our line-up of dishes were reasonable portions and delicious as anticipated. Our sommelier was extremely helpful with us deciding our choices for the night, and ended up being pretty accurate in the end. While reception wasn't as immediately attentive, our server was wonderful. My parents used to visit this place years ago, and according to my mom who accompanied me, it seems to have lost some of its fine-dining atmosphere. I did observed more casual-dressed patrons than expected, but I've found that to be true of restaurant week in general.

I had lunch at Aureole this past week, and even though it was prime time for business lunch - and the restaurant itself is in the heart of Midtown - it was surprisingly empty for pretty much the entire time I was there. Instead of sitting in a quiet dining room at the table, I opted for the bar instead, as I figured it would be a little more casual. The ambiance is nice and modern, and with big windows, there's a good amount of natural light that comes in to the front on a nice day out. The bartender was very attentive - not surprising perhaps given we were the only folks sitting there - and food and drink were served fairly quickly. The cocktails that I had were on-point and had a good balance of the fruit (mine had a focus on blueberry) vs. the booze making an impact.Food-wise, I will say that I probably could have made better choices, but I found the food to be a mixed bag, if not a great value. The house bread was very good, and the selection of West Coast oysters as an appetizer was a nice choice (although I found the red wine mignonette to not be as light as I generally like). For my entree, I did the prime beef filet mignon, and it was definitely one of the more disappointing steaks I can recall eating in recent memory. The beef was overly chewy, with very little natural flavor - which might explain the choice (both odd and poor) to add a slab of breadcrumb-topped parmesan on top to add some flavor. The carrots served with it were only partially cooked through and still very crunchy to cut and eat.I would not mind giving Aureole another shot, as maybe they simply aren't a steak restaurant and it's not their forte. That said, it's hard to rate the experience better given that it's priced to a point where one should expect better quality from a $50+ piece of beef. The drinks and oysters were good, but not enough to put this towards the top of my 'repeat' list for weekday lunches in the area.

All the courses were mediocre and the size of the filet mignon was the size of my thumb. What a slap in the face after all the previous courses. The filet quality was not good as well. Will never go back. Big rip off. No knock on the service staff tho, they were great.

I never visit the city without eating here. Perfect for pre-theatre. Excellent service and the food is always very good. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here 2 years ago and we had an awesome meal.
That's why we decided to come back for the restaurant week. Completely different experience. The service was very slow and not attentive (we asked to have cocktails and wine at the same time, they said "of course ", but did not happen, we asked for 3 wine pairings and we got 4, etc). Food was bad pub style. They did not even ask how we wanted the steak cooked (of course it came overcooked). If you have to serve mediocre food for the restaurant week, then just don't participate

I came here last night with a girlfriend to try the restaurant because it was restaurant week. I have never been here before. I found everything to be exquisite with a few minor exceptions. The wait staff was amazing and attentive, the food was delicious, the ambience was lovely. I started with the butternut squash veloute, which was so velvety and dellicious. I had the steak entree for my dinner which was good. Wasn't crazy about the side it came with and the sauce was supposed to be a grainy mustard au jus, but I didn't taste any mustard at all. It was actually pretty bland tasting. The steak was still very good. I'm typically Not a dessert person, but the profiterole was incredible. Not your typical profiterole. I selected the two Wine pairing with dinner. I wasn't crazy about the Chardonnay they served with the soup. Also, the only other complaint I had was I ordered the cocktail "from the orchard" before dinner and I honestly felt it was awful. I didn't taste any vodka in the drink and it just tasted like a thick apple cider. For $18, it was a waste. Other than that, a very lovely restaurant and experience.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for Restaurant Week 2020.
There was a tiny bit of a mixup regarding the reservation but they were super accommodating! Our waiter asked us if we were seeing a show later that night (we were) and they made sure that we were finished with dinner with plenty of time before the show. Impeccable service! The food was equally excellent and it was especially good for Restaurant Week prices ($42/person for dinner). While some restaurants will serve significantly lower quality/effort dishes for Restaurant Week, all the dishes we had at Aureole were all stellar. My favorite was the Black Angus Flatiron Steak which was perfectly medium rare and incredibly tender and flavorful. All around a wonderful restaurant and I hope to try their regular dinner prix fixe in the future.
Be the first to ReplyI was pretty disappointed with the service at Aureole.
I went for a team lunch with 8 coworkers. We had a 12:30 rEservation but were not seated until almost 1. Service was very slow. I had to tell the waiter we were on a time schedule to get back to work and it was still slow. Our drinks came out wrong then they didn't cOme back out until our appetizers were served. Then the main course dishes were served to the wrong people. With the majority selecting steak and salmon, all cooked at different preferences, all the food came out cookEd Medium. We had to send a steak back only to never get it back on time. Thankfully that meal was taken off thE bill. The food was good and dessert was the highlight. Will we return,, probably not.
