Very disappointing experience.
Very noisy place with poor service. Original waiter came and left. Then got a new waiter. Food was very good, but the ambiance negates that. Went there for a very special occasion and was extremely disappointed in the seating. Sat right next to a loud couple on one side and a basket full of oranges on the other.

A great experience if in Beverly Hills. The drinks and vibe is excellent, the food was mostly good with some dishes better than others. Overall if you are in the area and looking for a fun place to sit at the bar and then have dinner, definitely get down to this place!

Yesterday we dined with our family at this renowned restaurant, but the experience turned out to be disappointing. The decoration of the place displayed beautiful though it was very noisy. The service, while quick, was excessive, with the constant presence of the waiter around our table. The starters were acceptable, but the preparation of the swordfish as the main course was botched and tasteless, to the extent that we didn't even feel like trying the dessert. It seems you are still far from mastering French culinary expertise."

It takes A LOT for me to leave a poor review especially after being in the industry for over 10yrs. I have been to Avra Beverly Hills twice now and have had two VERY different experiences. The first experience my girlfriends and I were dressed up in our designer brands, and were seated right away in the heart of the restaurant and were provided decent service given the busyness of the evening. The second and most recent time I visited here, my husband and I were dressed to go to the comedy club, slacks, polo, hair and makeup done and straightened, with boots and nice matching attire. When we arrived we waited 20min for our table which typically would've been understandable during a busy hour HOWEVER, there were several parties who walked in after us and were seated immediately. Initially I thought nothing of it but when I saw our table I knew why. They sat us in the very back corner table by the kitchen in the back of the restaurant after putting other 2-top walk-ins in their booths or in much nicer tables. I have never EVER been treated like this in my entire life, we were judged harshly and quite frankly discriminated against because they assumed we were tourists or poor. Little do they know my husband is a doctor who owns our practice and I myself work with and for very high profile individuals. During our dinner service, we were rushed. Nothing was coursed out. The waiter was not friendly, paid little attention to our needs. Not one empty glass was bussed from our table the ENTIRE TIME after ordering multiple drinks, not once were we offered a refill on water let alone were plates bussed in time for when our meal arrived. Food was honestly meh. I've had much better and that applies to both occasions. If you want the stereotypical Beverly Hills experience of being treated and judged on how much Chanel you are wearing, then go here. They should take a lesson from Mark Cuban and stop judging people or assuming their wealth based on how they are dressed. I'll be sure to spread the word on this to my contacts in all the cities they are located.

AVRA hits all the right notes: excellent Greek food, first-rate service, beautiful room and beautiful people. As lovers of Mediterranean food who visit Santorini often, we were very impressed with the selection and quality of the fresh seafood that was perfectly prepared. The Dover sole, langoustines, and lobster pasta were all excellent. The lamb shank was very good, too enormous to finish. Our servers were lovely and very attentive despite the restaurant being packed with happy diners dressed up for a festive Friday night. I only wish the wine list offered more Greek whites, though the bottle our server recommended was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here.

Was supposed to be a quick dinner, but was we were seduced by the food and service and ended up staying for multiple courses. The ambient is very casual, and the fish excellent.

I don’t know where to begin… this is quite possibly the best seafood I have had the pleasure of tasting. We dined here whilst visiting Beverly Hills on vacation and it did not disappoint. Jeff was our server and he was incredible, so very welcoming and had great suggestions when it came to selecting the perfect fish/seafood for our table. We enjoyed an array of prawns mixed with a delicious tomato-based pasta and it was unbelievable. Not only were they cooked to perfection but each prawn had a different taste and texture that made the experience even more enjoyable. Like I said, I’ve never eaten anything quite like it. In terms of the restaurant itself, the aura was just wonderful. It has such a clean, modern and elegant vibe to it with the open setting providing a nice breeze whilst dining. If I ever have the pleasure of visiting Beverly Hills again, I would definitely come back to AVRA. Highly recommend!

There were 5 of us for dinner. The array of fresh seafood to choose from was enormous The menu was huge and choices were huge including meats but it is known for seafood The restaurant itself is huge and on a Wednesday night it was packed with beautiful people both young and older. Also some young stars amongst them. Everything that was ordered was absolutely delicious and the whole Fish was cooked to perfection

Wonderful place for a couples dinner out. Nice ambiance, beautiful drinks, immaculate service! Would defo go back. What would just make the place more cosy... a little dimmer on the lighting...candles...and this place would be very very beautiful! Just such a large room lit bright made it feel less romantic and made it more or of a casual feel, as it happens we sat outside and it was darker outdoors. But this is just a little constructive advice to make this place even better than it already is! Thankyou for a beautiful evening!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Overpriced Fish
In the last week while staying in Beverly Hills, I had the chance to go to Avra twice. Both times the place was packed. We had made reservations and were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Service was very friendly and not rushed. We ordered several appetizers and most of them were excellent. On my first visit I split a grilled Fagri fish. It was very tasty and grilled to perfection. The next time I visited I ordered the charcoal grilled halibut. That was excellent as well, and this time we ordered the homemade icecream for dessert. It was huge and fed 4 people! Overall both times the food was excellent and the service was friendly. I have 2 issues with Avra. It is extremely expensive and very noisy. Otherwise, I give it my GoldnAdvice seal of approval.

Went for my friend's birthday dinner and they exceeded our expectations. We were greeted by the lovely Lorena who assisted us with our reservation and then we had Mohammed as our waiter. He was such a gem! He knew all the things on the menu and gave great recommendations. The restaurant itself is beautiful, all the staff are great and it is located in a fantastic area.

Be the first to ReplyGreat Mediterranean Restaurant in Beverly Hills
Very nice place to dine in, walked in without reservation and the host provides us with table for 6 immediately in less than 5 minutes even though the restaurant was full. Recommended by Ozzy from LV Store Beverly Hills to try this restaurant. I’ve been around the world tasting a lot of restaurants and surprisingly I found Avra is considered as one of my favorite place to dine. We ordered 4 Lobster pastas and Rib Eye. The Lobster pasta was very delicious, the Wagyu rib eye also nice and tender and the East coast Oysters are the best and sweet taste. Didn’t mind paid any cost to Avra as it presented a very excellent food with a very friendly, professional and helpful services provides by our nice young blond hair lady/ waitress who attended our table. She deserves a great compliment for her well and professional manner and treatment to us. 5 star for the restaurant and its Chef and the F&B serves at it.
Be the first to ReplyWaste of money!
My husband brought us here for my birthday.....we had a good waiter, but the food was way overpriced and pretty bad. We ordered an octopus appetizer and it was plain, no noticeable sauce and basically forgettable... we told our waiter and he returned it and brought a shrimp dish....the shrimp was overcooked and tasteless.....The prices are ridiculous for the dishes that arrived. We eat at mostly trendy, expensive places and are used to good food. This was awful. Our booth was where we could see the kitchen...and I noticed more than a few dishes not eaten being returned. I tried to put a review on Yelp, but they have managed to not allow any more reviews and all on the site are basically 5 star....manipulated I would think. Stay far away and save your money...especially for the holidays..........the prices are even higher and so not worth it. Happy Holidays!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointed
Very disappointing experience as we were looking forward to celebrate my wife's birthday in this beautiful restaurant. Our waiter Travis was great and we started with great vodka martinis...and than the secret came out-the food is not good despite the popularity of this restaurant: we started with the Spanish Octopus appetizer which was mushy, bland and poorly presented. Just tasteless small cut pieces of one of my favorite dishes. The waiter offered right away to replace it. We got the chilean sea bass souvlaki-average and salty, but we kept it and only ate a portion. The main dishes was evenly divided: my wife's Plaki-a baked sea bass was good ( not spectacular as this restaurant pretends to be) and my over cooked grilled shrimps with a mediocre mosukah....had one shrimp and was done with this plate.....so out of 4 dishes, one was ok, not a good ratio. Travis did bring a nice birthday dessert on the house which was very good. I can't recommend this place not because my expectations were not met based on the buzz around it, it is simply not a good restaurant on any level, and especially as a high end establishment.
Be the first to ReplyGreat scene
So much for a recession. This place was packed on a Thursday lunch scene. Great looking clientele for an expensive menu. My favorite item was the Greek salad. Huge chunks of feta cheese and really crispy fresh cucumber, tomato, and onion. Expect to spend $75 minimum per person for lunch. MINIMUM. Fish is fresh and on display on ice for all to see. Better make a reservation though. Even though there is a ton of staff, service lacked for some reason. Always had to flag someone down for a drink, forgot silverware, and servers had too many tables, or inexperienced. The food is good, scene is good, pretty people, in a good location.

Booked here as a treat for my sons 21st Birthday whilst passing through Beverly Hills on a road trip. Had an excellent three course good value set lunch which had choices to appeal to the entire table. Service was excellent, attentive and fast without being rushed…would thoroughly recommend!!

On a Monday night nobody would think the a Mediterranean entry in the center of beverly hills would be crowded. While not my first time there Avra contines to impress. The grilled shrimp appetizer was delicious, delicate and flavorful. The fresh fish is phenomenal and would recommend any if them. I had a halibut dish off the menu that was so fresh and tasty. I can't tell if it is inflation of just quality food at the right price yet it was a bit pricey.
Be the first to ReplySuperb relaxed Sunday lunch
We had the most wonderful relaxed Sunday lunch. Everything first class! Sashimi, fish special and fried zucchini with tatziki all sensational. Out of this world white burgundies were the perfect accompaniment.
Our server, Mariana, gets my vote as the best ever. Genuine warmth and professional faultless service made the experience genuine one of the most memorable meals ever. A+++
One of the best in LA
One of the best restaurants we ever ate in. From the staff to the food to the ambiance, everything was so good. We went there twice in 3 days.
Teddy was very helpful and nice and really helped with the menu
Fresh Seafood and Great Service. Kitchen had an Off Night
AVRA specializes in fresh seafood served with a Mediterranean flair. How fresh? The fish is literally displayed, on ice, in the middle of the restaurant. Just like a fish market. It’s really quite impressive.
Our server greeted us with a plate of complimentary mezes, which are Greek nibbles. Flat bread, olives, radishes and hummus.
After taking our drink order, the server went over the menu. My wife and I both wanted Dover sole. He literally went to fish display and hand picked our fish and brought it to our table for our approval.
Everything appears to be served a la carte, so we shared an appetizer of Saganaki, fried cheese and lemon. We also shared some roasted potatoes.
The food was delicious, the portions were generous. The side dishes are definitely big enough to share. We couldn’t finish our potatoes.
The only disappointment was our fish came out luke warm. The server brought the fish back to the kitchen where they put it in a warming over for a few minutes, but it was still a bit cool.
Our overall experience was great and the manager was very apologetic. She took proper care of us and we left happy.
The kitchen had a bad night, but we still had a good meal. I would definitely go again.
HINT: make a reservation, even on a weeknight. We were there at 6:30 on a Tuesday and the place was packed.
Fantastic seafood/Mediterranean restaurant
We had a fantastic meal at Avra. The fresh fish selection was amazing. Our waiter was helpful, friendly and professional. The food was terrific. It is quite expensive but it is a beautiful restaurant with exceptional food. Well worth the cost. We would definitely go back.

There is a reason this place is popular. The service is impeccable and the food it decadent. Everything from the cocktails to the dessert was perfectly prepared. The special was Lobster over Pasta and it did not disappoint.
It's a perfect date night location. We stopped on the way to the airport, next time we will linger.
