A small intimate restaurant that just seats 6 at the counter. There are about 10 set menus to select when booking online, from 35,000 yen to 120,000 yen. Not knowing what to expect, we went for the middle. Every course was very good to excellent, personally executed by chef Kadowaki-san himself. Never had a few of the dishes anywhere before. Some courses just stunned by its simplicity and surprising taste , like a do it yourself radish wrap with monkfish liver sauce. And the truffle rice, oh my god There is also no drinks menu so leave everything to the chef A worthy 3 michelin star joint

It was our first 3 Michelin star restaurant experience and they did not disappoint. Very cozy restaurant with 6 seats at the dining bar facing the chef which allowed you to watch all the intricate preparations. This made for a very intimate experience, like you were a guest in his home as we were able to interact with him at various points. We did not speak Japanese, but his English was terrific and made us feel very welcome. Each course was delicious and unique. Some great courses with truffle mushrooms including dessert! What really put this experience over the top was the attention to detail with everything from the food to the service. I cannot say enough about how we truly felt like a welcome guest in his home. My only warning for others whom do not speak nor read Japanese - it’s tricky to find. They provide you with a map, but because the restaurant is so small and the signage is in Japanese characters, you need someone to assist. We took a cab there and even he had troubles finding it. That being said, it’s worth the effort to find. Would highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyElegant Japanese cuisine with a touch of innovation
Amazing use of foreign ingredients into Japanese cuisine like foie gras, truffles etc. And the truffle rice... unforgettable. You might feel intimidated as the chef is like the traditional Japanese artisan in the movies; quiet, strict and unfriendly. I saw a waitress checking something on her phone or a notebook. The chef asked her what she was doing. She answered. Then he told her he needs to talk with her later. I could see the fear in her face. It was interesting to see this strict and hierarchical culture in Japanese artisan's field.
Things you might want to know: If you don't order water, they just put a bottle of still water on your table and charge you for it. When you leave the place, they give you a small gift and charge you for it. Bill details won't be given unless you ask for it (you just get a memo stating the total sum.) I had the same experience in other 2 star restaurants in Japan so I suppose that's a common practice.
Japanese cuisine with truffle galore
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there . The counter sits only six . The atmosphere is very intimate and the food , every bit innovative , fresh and wonderful ! The main theme would be Finest Japanese good with a truffle touch . We opted for the omakase course . The portion is just right . The clam soup is excellent . Highly recommended

After a failed attempt to come last year due to a schedule change, I finally got to try Kadowaki and was not disappointed. The two of us sat at the counter which I always prefer in small Japanese restaurants - seeing the food prepared and eating it right away makes a big difference in the whole experience. We pre-ordered the truffle course with shabu-shabu beef (the other option of sea turtle wasn't for me). The first few small courses were very tasty especially the shiitake mushroom with piles of minced marinated daikon - amazing. The sashimi with truffle shaved on top was nice but would have been even better served on a drizzle of oil to enhance the truffle. Steamed egg with a touch of truffle and foie gras was a winner and the shabu shabu beef had the best veggie-loaded dipping sauce. The soup that followed was sublime. The final pot of truffle rice fills you up so the lighter dessert was great - a bit of fruit with a ricotta cream and truffled honey. The variety of dishes was a welcome change from the typical Japanese restaurants. The only thing I didn't love were the metal cups and carafe for our cold sake - not so nice to touch. It's a splurge meal but one I enjoyed very much. Definitely sit at the counter.

Clever use of truffle throughout the meal. We had yuba and edamame sauce, matsutaka and fluke, crab chawanmushi with foie gras sauce and truffle, matsutaka and wagyu shabu shabu, pike eel and shiso tempura and the signature truffle rice. Dessert was an amazing honey truffle with ricotta and fruit.
Small restaurant that delivers what it promises.
Truly elegant and high quality kaiseki experience
This was an unforgettable dining experience. We sat in one of the six seats in front of the chef. The setting was intimate, simple and beautiful. The chef was a wonder to watch and a true model of efficiency as he prepared his dishes. Everything that we tasted was unusual and delectable and beautifully presented. The chef, with each new dish, would explain to us what he was presenting and how we should taste it. I must mention that the final dish of the evening is the most truffle rich truffle rice you will ever encounter. Fantastic eating experience. If you have the chance, do not miss it.
Still One of The Best!
We all know that coming to Tokyo you either go shopping or eating and most of the time both. What I meant is you will always end up both eating and shopping too much! The highlight of “eating” this time is the Michelin 2 Stars Kadowaki - serving Modern Japanese Kaiseki Food with fresh seasonal ingredients as prepared by Chef/Owner Toshiya Kadowaki. The famous truffle pot rice is a must and you will have the chef prepare in front of you... the restaurant is very small and not easy to find but the food, service and ambience are excellent, worths all the effort in securing a booking and you better do it well in advance... highly recommended!
