Love the hanger steak! The restaurant got good vibes too, the French snail is a must try too!
Be the first to ReplyDecor and ambience were both great.
Food was pretty decent but definitely pricey for the portion size. Would recommend the escargot just for aesthestics. However, the sauce the branzino was served with was oddly sweet. The potatoes were subpar. My sister stated "the potatoes I make taste better." The steak lacked seasoning. The duck was the most flavorful entree we ordered but it wasn't rested long enough since the juices/blood leaked out (as shown in the picture). Service was good until it came time for us to get the bill. We must have asked our waiter at least 3x for the bill, it took him 30 minutes to give us another table's bill... it was just an annoying way to end the night given it delayed our post-dinner plans.

What a gem in the neighborhood! Loved the vibes at @bacchusbistrowine and the garden seatings in the back, and our waitress was very nice too Steak was great but a bit dry, might've been better with some sauce. It did go quite well with the white wine they recommended though. I tried a bit of the salmon and it was really tasty! Went so well with the vegetables. Escargot was amazing. Super fresh and juicy! Will have to revisit

Ordered sparkling water but our server had to be reminded to serve it.
Be the first to ReplyAwful experience.
Made a reservation but nobody took us in as a reservation - we were treated like a walk-in. We were in the way. The place was packed. We were seated in a spot across from the bathroom halfway inside and halfway outside, as the restaurant's back wall is wide open to the the patio. We were able to move, luckily. It became obvious to me that they were woefully understaffed. Only three waiters, one food runner and a frantic manager/host. The lady who came to serve us mentioned that it was her day off but she was called in to work. The food was horribly undercooked and lacking in flavor. No seasoning. Inedible. Gross. Why would you fill a restaurant to capacity if you do not have the staff to serve the guests properly? Quite a few unhappy people in the dining room from what I could see. I have been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years. This was an operational disaster where they will lose money by issuing refunds and a public health hazard that can potentially make people sick due to improper cooking techniques and understaffing.

Great food, good ambience, coming back definitely, good crowd! Will come backFrench and american!)
Be the first to ReplyCame here for brunch on a Saturday.
Ordered escargot French onion soup to start. These were the only two dishes that were seasoned properly. The Parisienne omelette, lobster Benedict, hanger steak and salmon burger were all lacking seasoning like others have mentioned. Really hoped for more considering all the great reviews on here but was pretty underwhelming and probably won't come back.

This place deserves 5 stars because it delivers perfectly on expectations. This is a not a destination restaurant, but if you want a traditional French bistro experience at 2014 nyc prices, this place is for you!We had the french onion soup, snails, bread, branzino, hanger steak and a variety of delicious french reds and everything was executed very well. Now that I'm writing this a couple weeks after my visit, I want to go back! Especially since I live in the area.
Be the first to ReplyI love Bacchus.
I had my wedding rehearsal dinner there, in the backyard. When me and my partner were going crazy in the summer of 2020, the first place we dared dine out at was Bacchus, in the backyard. The people are great (shoutout to Alvaro), the backyard is gorgeous, and you can always get a table. The food is good, wine is good, backyard summer vibes are good - the perfect neighborhood restaurant.

Firs review of the New Year and gotta give it to my New Year's Eve meal at Bacchus! As always, gotta start out by praising the top notch people who make this place run. Front of house and waiters were personable and welcoming to the perfect degree. There was an $84 prix fix four course meal for that night which we thought was a pretty good deal! Began with a lil amuse bouche of smoked salmon neopolitan. Nice bit of salmon roe on top, can't go wrong. We both elected to have the scallops as our app. Daaaaaamn. Beautifully presented and like eating solidified angels tears. I mean maybe I just love scallops? But these were up there with the best I've had. Came with a lovely tomato confit and fennel purée.For mains we had the salmon and the pork cheek. The pork cheek was very good, came with a very creamy mushroom sauce, Brussels sprouts with bacon and a celery root purée. Very good and almost too filling? But def getting your monies worth. For dessert we had the cheesecake with passionfruit coulis and the fondant au chocolate with delicious cream on the side! They gave us a nice little glass of champagne each at the end and capped the evening off beautifully.Hope everyone stays safe, healthy and full of go

This restaurant transports you to Paris with its French speaking waiters, duck and steak on menu, and colored panel wooden walls. The food was cooked to order, perhaps a little even rarer than asked. Meats such as duck and steak were juicy and flavorful. My friend's branzino was crispy, but lacked a little flavor in my opinion. My other friend's pork chop which was the special of the day was MASSIVE. The mashed potato served with the entrees were so smooth and creamy, I could have many many scoops more. Definitely a more treat yourself/special occasion establishment given the prices. I took a star away because the waiters were so aggressively pushing bread on our table which was not complimentary. The waiters, however, were diligent in checking our vaccination cards and refilling our glasses with wine seamlessly without us noticing. Definitely can't wait to check out their outdoor seating situation in the summer because it looks stunning in the pics!
Be the first to ReplySo pleasantly surprised by Bacchus.
Went inside expecting your typical, upscale European restaurant with overpriced food, but I was wrong! The backyard patio is so perfect for a romantic date, and the food is incredible. The menu changes based on what's fresh.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for brunch on Saturday around 1pm.
The hostess saw us twice and refused to greet or even acknowledge us. Refused to make eye contact. Basically saw us and turned her head away. We know she saw us because she was walking towards us from the garden area then quickly made a turn into the bar area without even acknowledging us at the front. We were the ONLY two people waiting out front, there wasn't a line or anyone else waiting. After just waiting out front like an idiot for a while we just left. Another guy came out and greeted us right before we left and I didn't want to eat there by that point. The hostess was blonde and had curly hair. Youngish looking. We are Asians perhaps that was why we were ignored, twice. Asians and other minorities go at you own risk. With plenty of restaurants to choose from, I don't see why anyone would subject themselves to this.

Bacchus hosted our August 2021 rehearsal dinner, and we could not be happier with how things went. Meryl and Bruno know exactly what they're doing, and the event went perfectly--the food was fantastic, the garden was beautiful, the waiters were very attentive (no empty wine glasses!), and they were incredibly accommodating with our various last-minute requests and questions. They also did a wonderful job setting up the space; the lights and draping in the back garden felt magical, and they set up the flowers, linens, and decorations beautifully. Our guests had a wonderful time, and we would recommend Bacchus to anyone. Thank you again, Meryl and Bruno!
Be the first to ReplyFood here is delicious.
The brunch is underrated but my favorite, I love coming to the outdoor seating with my dog. Brunch can be a la carte or an entree plus mimosas. Some of the staff actually speak French as a first language which lends credibility and ambience to a French restaurant. For adult beverages they have wine and beer, the wine list is long but most bottles are more than I could ever pay. At least a small cocktail bar, or a short list of specialty cocktails would be a nice addition. Between friends and I we've sampled a number of dishes each of them tasty in their own right. The French onion soup is #2 in the city. We also had the salmon, the burger, snails, and oysters.

Such a gem on Atlantic Avenue! Great French bistro: freshes and delicious French dishes, very friendly and attentive personnel, an extensive wine list, and just relaxing, friendly atmosphere to have a night out. There are plenty of different dishes to try. And a bone marrow looks so delicious. We will be back for sure!

The name fits the menu. We were here on a Saturday evening and were able to snag a sidewalk table (dog friendly!) at 6:30 PM without a wait. As we were wrapping up our dinner at 8, there was a line for indoor dining and for the lovely garden seating in the back. We started with the bone marrow and escargot, both of which came with a warmed dinner roll. The bone marrow was excellent and generously portioned and the rosemary "home fries" it came with were so perfect!! Soft on the inside, a light crust on the outside. The escargot was so buttery and the pesto was a wonderful touch. We greedily dipped the dinner roll in the remaining butter pesto sauce. While they ran out of lobster for the lobster tagliatelle, the shrimp tagliatelle that was the substitute dish did not disappoint. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and were so succulent. Not dry at all! And the tagliatelle- oh my. You can tell it's the homemade type. Each bite, covered in their savory and yet tart sauce, brought so many flavors from start to end. The hangar steak was decent (I realized I don't like that cut, so it's not their fault), but the husband quite enjoyed it. However, the mushrooms it came with were cooked to perfection, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Plus, more rosemary home fries!! Had a great meal and was so stuffed we didn't take a look at the dessert menu.
Be the first to ReplyNice backyard dining area with a semi separate event space.
A wedding reception was going on there when we visited. If you like wine, you would love this place if you have deep pockets. As for food, we were very happy with the escargot, French Onion Soup and the Ribeye (really good at steak). The burger was only so so As for beer. Only a local lager and IPA. No French imported beer that one would expect at a French Bistro in NY for some strange reason.
