This lively place near the Tuileries is a favorite spot of ours. You know you've found a good spot from the moment you step inside. The staff is immediately greeting you and making you feel comfortable. Once seated, the menu is presented and the fun begins. The only difficulty is making a decision, but your friendly server is there to help with that. We have enjoyed every meal at Balagan and look forward to returning on our next visit to Paris.
Be the first to ReplyAll of my friends were praising this Israeli restaurant.
But it is almost impossible to make a reservation. So we had to eat at the bar.Food is very good. Can't complain. My lamb chops were absolutely amazing.Downside - music is so loud so it makes any conversations impossible.

I really enjoyed Balagan! The food was great and the service was pretty good as well! My friend and I tried to make reservations three days in advance and they were already totally booked and were only able to get us in at 10:30pm. Definitely a popular spot. Would recommend if you're in the mood to drink and party! The music is insanely loud and everyone was singing and dancing along. Fun vibes but definitely not for people wanting a casual dinner!
Be the first to ReplyAwful restaurant and not great food.
Surprised that it's a Michelin star restaurant. Spend your money on other great restaurants in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyI never go to Paris without going to Balagan at least once.
The servers are friendly, accommodating around dietary restrictions and always super attentive (not an easy find in the EU). This Israeli inspired restaurant is on an unassuming quiet corner of Rue d'Alger & Rue de Mont-Thabor. Such a fun vibe with the most delicious dishes. Check out the back room for great music and a nightcap!
Be the first to ReplyHands down one of my favorite restaurants in Paris.
I stayed in the Renaissance hotel for a week and would walk by Balagan all the time- every single night it was packed and lively. It's a small restaurant but filled with character and a younger crowd. Come here for drinks and a late dinner with loud music but stay for the incredible Mediterranean fusion food. Start off with their bread, Kubane or Frevanon (brioche). The sea bass and polenta are must tries!

Restaurant was busy so we ate in the bar area. My husband enjoyed his meal. My dinner never showed up until he was all finished eating. We wanted a nice dinner experience for our first dinner in Paris. Others around got the same meal I did while I remained waiting - how odd. I didn't enjoy my meal as much. Not sure if it was the food or because I wasn't as happy as when I arrived.with all the places to choose to eat in Paris, I couldn't recommend here.

. I'm telling you.. if you go in early before it turns into a mini discotheque you will have a great time. I've been too several restaurants in the area and if you want different you will get it here - the drinks, food and attitude is fun and well done.

TEN STARS!!!! Amazing everything!! Amazing food, Amazing staff, Amazing vibe. I was so blown away by my first meal that I went back every single day of my trip. I tried a new thing on the menu every time and was always more intrigued by the creativity and high quality!! The entire staff is extremely accommodating and an absolute pleasure. They go out of their way to make you feel like family, this will definitely be my go-to!! An ABSOLUTE MUST when in Paris!!

We went to this restaurant on Sunday night and it was full so reservations are essential. It is an Israeli French menu. The wait staff was very friendly. Our party of 2 enjoyed the special bread with dips. The polenta starter was good and so was my fish entree but I wish the waiter would have told me that both were very rich and creamy. The scallops were very good but again quite rich. Unfortunately the menu did not provide descriptions that would indicate the richness of the sauces. We would recommend this restaurant as a fun place to visit for something different in Paris.
Be the first to ReplyWe wandered in and sat at the bar.
Got incredible service. Loved the vibe. The food was incredible and reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant. In particular the bread and the polenta were super yummy. I'm only in Paris for a few days but may need to go back.

Chef's table! The most delicious food! We had a chef's tasting dinner and it was delicious. Fresh and full of flavor. Awesome staff- Chef Sarah was incredible... Drinks and wine were a perfect compliment. I can't wait to get back!!

This place was connected to our hotel and the food was surprisingly delicious. The staff as well are delightful and they make you feel involved with the process and community. The environment is lively and at night it turns into quite the scene for delectable cocktails. The only reason I docked a star was for their desserts - did not much care for them.

If you're ever making a trip to Paris, my wife (Sonia) and I highly suggest you go to this restaurant!!!They deserve all the accolades they can get, please don't ever change! My wife and I took a trip to Barcelona and Paris on a Thanksgiving holiday over eight days and our last night's dinner was at Bagalan. There was truly nothing that could have been improved upon! Our only wish is that this review could post on all review platforms simultaneously:-)The restaurant atmosphere was fantastic and the clientele was obviously full discerning diners with a casual but upscale bent. Dianne was our combination sous chef and server at the bar/counter (this is the way to go)! She was talented, both in her obvious skills as a chef, but also with her attentiveness as a server. She was an excellent multitasker, young, attractive, fun and asked us just enough questions to ascertain exactly what we would enjoy from their diverse and sophisticated Mediterranean menu. She was an impressive representative amongst a group of obviously well-curated staff. The food was fantastic and represented well the ambitious chef de cuisine, whom we also met and found to be quite enthralling. Finally, the sommelier picked the perfect wine pairings to go with the meal. He was a true professional and described in detail the attributes of several options we might enjoy with our meal. We selected a bottle of amazing Burgundy at his prompting once he learned of our order that went ideally with the early courses, followed by a selection of fantastic wines that paired perfectly with our main course! If you find yourself in Paris (district 1), love great food and are open to a well-rounded dining experience, let the team at Bagalan lead you to an evening you'll not soon forget!

After bring in hibernation for months, we carefully ventured into Paris for a couple of days. Balagan was our choice for our first meal out and it was a real treat. This place has a fun vibe, with enthusiastic and helpful servers who happily explained the menu options. For starters, we shared the fatoush salad and polenta. Both were exceptionally delicious. For our mai. Dishes, we had the "Kusonim" which were a cross between dumplings and raviolis filled with a fennel mixture, and "Glykeria" which is a sea bass and lentil dish. Even though we had no more room to fill, we couldn't resist ordering "Crack Pie" which was a perfect way to end the meal. We rolled out of there, happy to be able to enjoy an evening in Paris amidst the chaos in the world.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing at best.
I am a chef and went with 2 chef friends. We were very excited as we'd heard so many good things. We had a reservation but the table wasn't ready. We waited 45 minutes in the bar which was lively and we could've overlooked the delay if the rest had gone well. We finally sat and ordered 2 entrees and 3 main courses. One entree arrived and then 2 main courses. We thought since we were sharing that more would be coming out. The lamb was tasty but overcooked. The pumpkin purée on the scallop had no flavor and we couldn't tell it was even pumpkin. The sesame cracker on the scallop tasted sweet, heavy, and out of place. Then our plates were removed and we were offered a dessert menu. We reminded our waiter of the missed dishes. He returned with the "deconstructed kabob" which was just a goopy unidentifiable mess on a plate. They were out of our other entree. By this point the restaurant had turned into a nightclub with staff and patrons alike were doing shots, music cranked, and boisterous partying ensued which would've been fun had the meal and service not been so bad. Not the fine dining experience we were hoping for. This place had the vibe of a club and the staff seemed more interested in partying than running a restaurant. And this was a Tuesday night. Go figure!
Be the first to ReplyGreat choice for dinner in Paris if you want something
Great choice for dinner in Paris if you want something different. This restaurant has a great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff who are very friendly and add to the experience! They offer many vegetarian/pescatarian dishes to choose from which was wonderful as there were a handful of restaurants who barely had anything without meat. The place is tight so be prepared to be seated closely. The bar is a great option too especially if they are busy or you don't have reservations.

What an incredible experience! The menu was most interesting and the flavors palate-blowing. The service is attentive without being stuffy or suffocating. The chefs work in full view and are delightfully accessible and personable -- and have a great time doing what they do so well! We ate there twice during our one- week stay because it was just amazing! Can't wait to go back when we are Paris again!
Be the first to ReplyI was here with a friend for my birthday dinner.
Our hotel concierge helped us get reservations the day off at the bar. However, once we reached the restaurant they were super accommodating and gave us the table. I cannot say enough about how good the service was - right from the checking in, wait staff and the wine sommelier, everyone was excellent. We got the bread and dip (delicious), sea bass for the main course and finally the surprise dessert which was the Jerusalem cheesecake (I would never have chosen this dessert off the menu, but it was beyond delicious.) I can't wait to come back!
