Fun evening dinner
Where recently in St. Pete for the IndyCar race. First night there my wife decided she wanted Italian so we walked down Central looking and came across Bavaros. What a fantastic find. Amazing wood fired Pizza and my wife had an equally delicious pasta dish. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back.

We decided we wanted pizza for dinner last night and this restaurant had the best TA reviews for an Italian restaurant so we made a reservation online. Luckily we found a parking space just outside and then requested a table inside as it was a little chilly outside. The restaurant isn’t huge inside and has an open kitchen, bar and pizza oven area. There’s a limited pizza choice but you could add extras so that was fine. It has a wood fired oven so we were really looking forward to an authentic pizza (we lived in Italy for 3 years so know what a great pizza is like!). The meal didn’t start well as our server just took our pizza order and walked off without asking about drinks and then we found it hard to get her attention as she started working behind the bar. So unfortunately we only got our drinks as our pizza was arriving. The pizzas looked great with the tell tale black spots on the crust which comes from the wood fired process. The toppings were good and tasty but the pizza dough and the way it had been cooked was poor and not authentic. Not sure how they had managed to cook it with black spots on the crust and have zero crispness - the dough hadn’t really been cooked through at all. So we ate the middle parts and left most of the crust. We had only come for a pizza so declined dessert and asked for the check. Took much too long to have our credit card put through the machine so left even more frustrated. I’ve given around 1000 5* reviews on TA unfortunately this isn’t one of them

I was with friends the other night who took me out for my birthday. I've wanted to try Bavaro's for a long time now, so we stopped in. When we got there, we realized we should have made a reservation. The restaurant was full. (There were 6 of us).We were about to leave when the manager, Mia, asked us to give her a few minutes to free up a table. We waited maybe 10min and she was able to seat us. She was so nice and accommodating. The food was excellent and Mia even stopped by to see if we were happy with the table and our dinner. This was the best experience I've had in a while and it was very much appreciated by all of us. We'll definitely be back!

Recently, we decided to try lunch at Bavaro's in DTSP. We saw immediately that the restaurant had ample umbrella covered seating at the front entrance. The hostess greeted us with a smile as we walked up. Good start! We loved the European intimacy vibe immediately. The restaurant has a small L-shape bar on the left side as well as approximately 10 tables inside. The wood-fired oven was visible at the rear of the room. Our server, Ally, approached the table immediately and ordered cocktails. We enjoyed a glass of wine and a beer (1/2 price during happy hour) while perusing the menu. We asked about the company's history. They are a family-owned restaurant group committed to the art and craft of Napolitan pizza. Bavaro's stays true to tradition by using a handcrafted, wood-fired brick oven designed by 3rd generation craftsmen, 100 year old yeast culture,100 year old recipes, and all of the ingredients are imported from Italy. (The tasty sauce is available for purchase.) What we ordered to share: *12-inch Margherita pizza prepared with San Marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte ("milk's flower", and is used to refer to cow's milk Mozzarella) parmigiano reggiano, basil, and EVOO soon appeared. The soft, puffy crust, sauce, fresh cheese, and basil?! Divine! Delicious! Perfect. Loved the pie. (5 stars out of 5) *Wood-Fired Wings - oven toasted with hot honey garlic and finished with pistachio gremalita (5 stars out of 5) *Spaghetti, lunch portion - homemade spaghetti with beef & pork meatballs, basil oil and parmigiano reggiano (5 stars out of 5) *Cannoli with sweet ricotta cheese and powdered sugar. It was very dry (1 star out of 5) We enjoyed our visit, the staff was friendly, professional and fun. I am looking forward to our next visit.

Great neighborhood spot in DTSP. Jennifer is super friendly and intuitive. Plan on making it a regular part of the weekday rotation.

The food was probably the best Italian we’ve had at a restaurant in the city. Jennifer, our waitress, was incredible. We will be back soon!

Jennifer was amazing! Would have never have guessed they were busy. Amazing attitude; quick to greet us and make wine recommendations. Checked in often to make sure we had everything we needed and even made sure our dog had water :)

Were walking down the sidewalk looking for a new place for dinner when a server walked out the door carrying some pasta dish to an outside table. Looked and smelled delicious. The place was pack so we got seated at the bar because we didn't have reservations. We sat at the end which was great because we could watch as the chefs were plating the meals. Great craft cocktails. We has some martini ish drink I forget what it's called but they muddled fresh raspberries into the drink ahhh heaven. All the food was great..garlic cheese bread, chopped Italian salad..and the meatdballs..yum yum. Jennifer our server/bartender was super nice and entertaining to watch. That made sitting at the bar very cool. I'm only sorry that I stuffed myself so that I had no room for sweets.

1) Outside table we reserved wasn’t available as they bumped us for a birthday party 2) my $20 glass of wine was fizzy and tasted like the bottle had been poorly stored (server relaxed with a better wine - no charge) 3) ordered charcuterie board - no mortadella - rest of meats were like grocery store meat - the charcuterie board has gone downhill over last 4 years 4) chicken we added to pasta seemed like the pre cooked grilled chicken form the grocery store. Matteo, Pia’s and Sauvignon are all far better choices for the money. This was our final visit here after 4 years of patronizing this place.

Great Caesar salad, pizza and 1/2 priced wine before 6pm. Really nice wait staff. Everyone friendly and helpful. Indoor open air and outdoor seating. Havalynn was sooo nice and helpful. Will definitely be back with friends.

What a great find in DTSP! The pizzas were incredible, my friend had the chicken wings and said they were excellent! The Nutella pizza dessert is divine, especially when it's your birthday, and it's free and they add a sparkler! This will definitely be one of my regular haunts from now on.

Someone once told me that pizza is just like sex...it's good even when it's bad. I don't agree. Good pizza is hard to find. But at Bavaro's it's great! I had the Quattro Formaggi. Absolutely perfect crust, no sauce and 4 types of cheese. I arrived before 6 pm and enjoyed half off an excellent draft beer.

We have been saying for several years that we need to try Bavaro’s based on many enthusiastic reviews (both online and from friends). Well, we stopped by recently and can say all these positive reviews are true. The pizzas are the traditional size found in Italy with great flavors. Service was outstanding (thanks to Dahlia!). Prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. We will return to this St Pete gem.

I'm on keto so its unusual to be able to eat Italian. Bavaros has "vegetti" zucchini noodles which are delicious and keto friendly.
