Bluefins is a casual, unassuming, and friendly restaurant
Bluefins is a casual, unassuming, and friendly restaurant in Chatham. You might be skeptical that the food would be somewhat middle-of-road, but they're actually excellent. For one, the bar is extremely competent. The cocktails are more creative, and mixed up with way more finesse than you'd expect for a casual joint. Definitely worth having a few. Not all of the food is first-rate (some of the hot dishes are ho-hum), but the sushi and special rolls are terrific. The service is really friendly. All in all, you can count on a great meal and a lovely evening out in Chatham here!

This place was recommended to me by my sister in law! My husband and I came in on a Saturday night with no reservations and they were able to sit us at the sushi bar right away which we were pretty happy about. The oysters are so huge and good, we had to get a dozen of them. I got the lobster dip bc another reviewer recommended it and it was nothing special. My husband got the burger which he said was pretty good. I would definitely recommend the Surf N Turf roll. It comes with 10 pieces, is cooked and that seared beef (omg yum!) Would definitely come back because we know what's good here now!

Our table was ready before our reservation and we received a text message to inform us. Seated promptly, our serve was attentive and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the ginger & lychee martinis, as well as the mai Tai and spicy jalapeno margarita. The sushi rolls and mains were excellent. As were the homemade pork dumpling special and blueberry cheesecake. The only miss was the miso soup which was bland. The food was quick, many attentive staff and quality proteins made our experience enjoyable!

Easy takeout. For takeout, you just pull up out front, and someone comes out with your food and payment options. You don't even have to call when you arrive. The food was all fine. Nothing bad. Nothing amazing. Had the bao buns, which were way bigger than expected. They reheated well. Two cooked sushi rolls. Pad Thai with shrimp, which was a hearty portion. I'd eat here again.
Be the first to ReplyI was able to snag a table on a Friday night as a walk in.
I started off with the Lobster Dip. The wonton chips were a different spin that was delightful. Then I had the Surf and Turf sushi, which was a treat. I'd definitely go again if I was in the area

Fast service. Definitely recommend. One tip is to make reservations early.

I give the restaurant two stars because of location and ambiance only as for food- it left much to be desired. i've never been more disappointed leaving a restaurant. the spicy tuna rolls and the yellowtail rolls that were ordered should have been renamed the cucumber tuna rolls because they were 2/3 cucumber and 1/3 tuna. the pork dumplings came out lukewarm and lacking a nice sear. the angry dragon roll was good but honestly, I expect everything to be good given the pricing. when I voiced my dissatisfaction with the waitress, she was gracious and provided good service... However, all I was offered was one of the three sushi rolls to be removed off the bill. I am more than annoyed that I had to pay almost 30 buck for the other two cucumber rolls they left on the bill. Needless to say, I will sadly not return. as far as cost- yes, expensive and to be expected. I don't mind paying when the food is on point. Tonight however, I left hungry and broke. I'm very dissatisfied.
Be the first to ReplyDo NOT get the steak here.
Easily the worst piece of over cooked meat I've ever imagined. Overpriced and overhyped.

Definitely the most lively spot in town - packed on a Saturday night. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. The fish was super fresh. The portion for the shishito peppers was also huge. I would skip the silky tofu next time though. Great place for dinner in downtown Chatham.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time at the bar in a number of years.
Everything we ordered was fabulous. Especially loved the yellowtail served carpaccio style with scallions. All of their rolls are beautiful, artful, and so fresh. So many excellent staff work here. Excellent service and great to see the sushi prepared right in front.

I don't normally write reviews about restaurants but Bluefin's was exceptionally bad tonight. First, they sent us a text to come to our table immediately 25 minutes before our reservation. We rushed out the door to try not to lose our table before our reservation time even came. When we arrived, the hostess was aggressive and made faces while she looked for our reservation on the iPad. We were 3 minutes early for our reservation... She made us feel like they had given away our table but her manager corrected her and found our name on the reservation list. When we got to our table we ordered the tempura oysters which got brought to the wrong table before making it to ours. They were okay but not worth the price. Then they brought our sushi to the wrong table. When our sushi finally made it to our table, I found a small piece of hair on the side of my plate. I brushed it off and started eating but midway through my dinner, I realized it was not just a small hair but a very long hair that had been rolled into my sushi and cut several times because each piece of sushi had bits of hair sticking out. I very politely called a waitress over and she took the food back without apology or telling me if they were going to remake my food. No manager came over to apologize or notify me about my food (which is what happens when a mistake is made in the restaurant that I work at). When a mistake is made in the kitchen and two customers have to eat at different times, ruining their meal together, the least a restaurant can do is apologize for their mistake. My boyfriend and I both work at very nice restaurants and we were shocked to see how we were treated at this place. Maybe it's because we're young and maybe we don't look like we're going to spend a lot but the service was absolutely appalling. We will not be returning again and will be going to Ten Yen from now on instead.
Be the first to ReplyThe best sushi we've had on cape cod.
I ordered catering for 14 and they went above and beyond to delivery at our house on time. The sushi looked beautiful and tasted even better. Plan ahead and enjoy!

Love this place! Always a win whether we dine in or do take out. Love the sushi and other warm entrees and apps. Literally can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Surprisingly, the side of green beans is a family favorite too!
Be the first to ReplyTasty and fresh seafood / sushi - was very enjoyable.
We had 8pm reservations, so came at 745 to have a cocktail at the bar. They no longer allow this for some reason. So we had a drink at the squire before heading over at 8pm. Interestingly, when we sat only half the dining room was filled - we ordered cocktails and apps. Both were perfect. Then we ordered our sushi and pad Thai. When the food came out around, the waiter informed us that the kitchen was closing so if we wanted anything else we had to order it then. Odd. He also told us that if we wanted any more cocktails we had to order now since the bar was closing. Remind you, our sushi had just arrived. The fish was tasty but the pad Thai was cold on the bottom and warm on top - it had clearly been made much earlier than the sushi and just sat there. Overall it's a 3, and I feel I'm being generous. It's a shame that they have taken such a special place and allowed the lack of attention to detail / atmosphere creep in. Oh well, love moves in cycles and there are other options in Chatham that are cropping up to fill the void.

The sushi is great! The drinks are great! Why are you closing soooooo early?!! It is July on Cape Cod. It's turned into an early dining and mostly takeout place. You have a gorgeous bar and restaurant but to close at 8-8:30 in the summer is a major downer. We used to love having drinks and sushi at the gorgeous bar at 8:00 other summers. We tried to eat dinner the other night and were met by a bouncer outside the door who said we couldn't even sit or wait to sit at the bar or get a drink??? It was only 7:00. He said you were full for night at close at 8:30 so we couldn't even enter. Doesn't seem fair to your waitstaff and bartenders? What a shame. Bring back the nightlife !
Be the first to ReplyBluefins is a popular sushi bar in downtown Chatham.
It was quite lively and active when we arrived, with busy and bustling tables and high-energy music (though not too loud). Service staff was very attentive and helpful. To eat, we shared many of the specialty rolls. The Cape Cod Monster and the Tuna Crunch were especially good, though they were all tasty. The wakame seaweed salad was also enjoyable.Overall a fine sushi spot. Ambiance is more neon and pulsing vs. relaxed and chill. But if you're happy with that, it can be a good meal.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I had the most wonderful dinner here.
We stopped in early on Sunday evening. We made reservations, and we're more seated right on time. We had incredible service from Nina. She was very knowledgeable about the menu items and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. We were not rushed, and the food came out in a very timely manner. The cocktails were delicious and the nigiri and sushi rolls were amazing and tasted so fresh. If you are wondering about trying this place out and read this review and don't go, you've missed out. You won't be disappointed!! Great job to the whole staff, we'll definitely be coming back! 10/ 10
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately we did not have a great meal here.
The oysters were incredibly dry, to the point that we couldn't even finish them (normally we are fighting to get a chance to eat the last one). The sushi itself was fine, not delicious, however the Nigiri was quite good. There are many other delicious places to eat in the area, and the food here just didn't hit the mark.

As soon as I walked in, you could tell this place must be amazing because it was absolutely packed. Cool, dark atmosphere and lots of bar seating. The entire staff was very friendly and accommodating. But the real star of the show was of course the sushi. I'm a sushi lover and always down to try new places and new rolls. And this place exceeded all expectations. The rolls were so fresh and you could really break down every individual ingredient in each bite, the result was a seamless flavorful palette. I wish I lived closer so I could come back every time I crave sushi, but I guess in the end it's a good thing I won't blow through all my money, and we save this place for special occasions on the Cape.
