Really the best Mexican in east bay.
Try the carrot appetizer. Mind blowing. The fish tacos are crispy and delicious. Duck and pork also really good. Hard to get a reservation but really worth it, a bit loud but plenty of outdoor seating.

This place is popular for a reason. Everything is delicious. Every dish and drink punches above its weight class in terms of flavor. It's not just Instagram-ready but incredibly executed. Love going family style but you don't have to do if you don't have a big party that likes to share plates. The sides are all extremely delicious. You can't go wrong. Case in point: cardamom cake for dessert was incredible, and I don't even like cardamom.

My best friend said she was craving Bombera so we came last night! Everything was great, from the service to the food. The flavors are always on point and everything we have tried from the menu has been so good. The carnitas was one of my first tries and they were cooked so tender and flavorful, along with their watermelon salad, trout tacos (another first try) the smoke was perfect and of course the carrots never disappoint. We all had a few drinks (which I didn't get pictures of) but I had the vampiro and just like their food, you can tell that the juices are fresh with a perfect blend of tequila. I highly recommend Bombera to anyone that comes to Oakland. Don't believe all the fear mongering, the Diamond district does have some flaws but nothing to deter us coming here. I strongly suggest making reservations and make sure to check the days they are open. Their bathrooms are gender neutral and are kept very clean and the walk to the bathroom allows you to see the wonderful cooks in the kitchen!

Bombera was our first dinner on a group trip to the Bay area. Friday night, we all have that excited first day of vacation energy. Unfortunately Bombera didn't add to that, but rather took away from it. I enjoyed my food, but didn't enjoy the dining experience. We arrived and we're promptly sat at our table. A few minutes later , a server assistant/bus boy asked if we want chips and salsa. And then that was it for at least ten minutes. I had to physically go up to the host stand to ask if we could put in a drink order. She sends someone over and the guy is like " yes I'll be taking care of you all for now". For now?? Like dude just take the order, keep the dramatics. Everyone enjoyed their cocktail, I got the vampire something and it was delicious, although it was mostly ice. I ordered the swordfish and it was delightful. So flavorful. The taquitos missed the mark for me. Our real server finally comes over and introduces herself just as we are almost done with our food. My friend tells her she didn't like her food and this silly girl responds with "oh do you want a to go box?" I said did you hear her say she didn't like it??? She didn't offer to comp it either , even though the plate was mostly full. While I enjoyed my dish, the service really ruined our first Oakland dining experience. I would come back but only to sit at the bar.

Brought my husband here for his birthday and we both enjoyed it. They have a creative menu with plenty of options for meat-lovers and vegetarians alike. The space feels simultaneously open and airy due to the high ceilings, but cozy because of the seating arrangements. The food is flavorful and the service is good. I recommend anything with their mole!

I was finally able to visit Bombera this weekend which was highly recommended by my Baby Sister. She is all about eating healthy and organic foods! I made reservations for 3 at 7:30pm! Reading all the reviews regarding wait times if you don't have reservations especially on a weekend I was a little skeptical. We got there a little early and we're greeted right away with a smile and excitement! The hostess at the front found my name and said we have your table ready and did not worry about how early we were. (25mns early) We were seated right away and we're provided with water chips, salsa & guac! The vibe of the Bombera inside and out is really nice. Gives a Mexico feeling right off the bat, as if you were to walk down the street in Mexico and find a nice looking place to eat and instantly thought to yourself let me try this spot! Bombera is a Farm-to-Table women owned restaurant. The staff is amazing! Everyone with a bright smile on their faces more than happy to check up on you and make sure you are enjoying your time there. We ordered charred Beets a La Chicana & Watermelon Salad for appetizers. The charred Beets were Amazing! Highly recommended. The watermelon salad was also very good and refreshing! For entrees we ordered Fish Tacos, Roasted Chicken Mojo de Ajo & Carne Asada Huarache. All in all this place was great! From the food to the staff to the music playing inside and out makes you feel like you are right at home! Definitely a family vibe here. Would I Come Back.. Absolutely! Definitely Moe Approved! !

Went on a Friday for a date night after seeing this place on "Check, Please!". Overall, really good food and vibe, but the service was not it (more on that below). There were also a few touches that I thought could have been better. Spicy carrots were excellent and a standout for me. I love my salsas spicy, and the carrots were slathered in a very spicy, nutty salsa. The masa in the tamales was literally perfect. They were a starter plate, but I could easily have had that as an entree. We ordered the rotisserie chicken, larger plate meant to be shared, which came with beans, rice, and veggies. The chicken was so juicy and all the little fixings were great additions. Service-wise... We waited at the host stand for a few minutes because there was nobody there. When the host arrived, she said our table wasn't ready (we made reservations). We had to practically flag down a server each time we wanted to order something. I physically had to get up from the table by the end of the meal just to ask for a check, because nobody was around. When we did have our food, not once did someone stop by to ask how everything was. Would definitely like to go back another day, but I do hope the service improves because it was a big let down.

Had a fantastic time celebrating our friend's 50th wedding anniversary tonight! Service was warm, caring and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meals, but the watermelon salad and whole roast chicken were the clear winners! Margaritas go down way too easy but are pricey at $15/drink. Chocolate chip & oatmeal cookie was tasty, but they charge $9 for a single cookie!! Our tab after tax and tip was $320+ for 5 margaritas, 1 mocktail, watermelon salad, roasted carrots, duck leg, filet mignon, whole roast chicken, 1 cookie and 1 coffee. It's too pricey for a regular meal, but worth the occasional splurge for sure!

The salads taste fresh, the meat perfectly cooked, and the drinks are refreshing. And eating in a beautifully restored firehouse is *chefs kiss* We love it here!
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Bombera.
The customer service is abysmal, and the owner is rude and unhelpful. I made a reservation for a party of 6 and needed to change the number of attendees. Despite calling and emailing them days in advance, I received no response until just hours before my reservation. To make matters worse, they have a $20 fee per person for no-shows or late arrivals, which is not disclosed anywhere on their website. They also don't call to confirm if you're still planning to attend your reservation, which could help avoid such issues. Overall, I found their service to be unprofessional and frustrating. I would not recommend Bombera to anyone who values good customer service and transparency.

Creative and bold cooking in a gorgeous space (bombera means firewoman, and the restaurant is housed is a converted fire station). Parking is a NIGHTMARE.... but the food is reasonably priced. I was a little disheartened by just how spicy some of the dishes were (without it being noted on the menu). My guest and I enjoyed the tuna tostadas, which were brilliantly done. The duck mole was so appealing, but the spice level was a bit too high. Dessert was a fruity cake that finished off the meal well. I'm not sure how they ended up in the Michelin guide, but it's there (no stars, just a mention). It's more of a solid neighborhood restaurant than a destination.

Chef Dominica's paints a picture in your pallet with her choice of menu items. You can taste her brilliance in each mouth watering entree. My favorites: Chips, salsa, guacamole Chicken Pozole (verde and rojo). Know that the Pozole has a pork broth for those who do not eat pork. I typically do not eat pork but Roasted chicken mojo de ajo Gem salad I am allergic to fish/seafood and the Bombera staff does an amazing job at being safe and mindful of this.

The food at this restaurant is on fire and the name truly fits... it sure needs a "bombera" it's an explosion of flavors! For starters I liked the fact that, if you don't have reservations, they have a separate waiting area which u can have cocktails and appetizers while u wait for a table! Secondly, the bathrooms are so clean and well kept! Thirdly, the service from the host to the bar tender and waiter and chef/owner is friendly and they constantly checking on you. Last but not least the food is authentic and DE.LI.CIOUS!!! The duck green mole is spot on, the carnitas are so tender, and the chicken taquitos crunchy and flavorful!! I cannot say enough about how good this place is! I also really appreciated that most of the people working the bar, waiting on tables and the kitchen were woman and for once it wasn't the Latino employee just busing the tables but also serving them!!... almost forgot the deserts are also a great choice! I will keep coming back to this place until I have tried everything on the me menu!

I haven't even eaten here, but I'm giving them five stars for kindness. We had a reservation for six, but a family member was in an accident and ended up in the hospital in serious condition. They cancelled our reservation without blinking, even though the policy is that you're locked in 7 days out. The man on the phone said he hoped for the best for our family. Kindness matters.

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time since they moved from Swan's Market. The new space is beautiful, with lots of light and a sleek, modern decor - it's really delightful. But the best part of this newish restaurant is the food. We had the whole chicken, and it was perfect - crispy skin and moist, well-flavored meat. The freshly made tortillas were delicious, and the guacamole was just like the guac I grew up with. The salsa, both rojo and verde, was so bright, fresh, and herby. Bombera, you have hit it out of the park - gracias por todo.

The environment is lively, and can flex for a fun night out with friends or cozy date spot. The food is simple and well made. Favorites are definitely the yam quesadilla, fish taco, and spiced carrots. If you can't make a reservation, it's worth the short wait. Never had a bad night there

We sat inside, as requested, because it was quite cold outside--BUT inside was VERY LOUD. Unpleasantly so. We would have stayed for dessert had it not been so noisy.

I went here today after having had this place bookmarked for a special occasion for a long time. It completely delivered and surpassed expectations! Best thing on the menu for me were the taquitos! So so so good and authentic. The salsa verde slaps and the beans were divine!! 10/10 The chips and guac and salsa were great too, it was all so fresh, you could taste it. The salsas are on the mild spicy side, not too spicy for a spice lover. Spicy carrots - what a depth of flavor and the chili oil just made this dish!! The umami flavor was there for sure!! The beans in the appetizer were the star, more so than the carrots! 10/10!! I ate this with the chips too it was so so good. Fish tacos - my friends ordered the fish tacos and they loved them too, although I didn't try them but everyone was raving about them. Ambiance is great! So a slightly breezy but overall Spring time weather in the bay, they have heaters outside and lots of indoor seating as well. We will definitely be returning to this place!!
Just what Mexican food should be like.
Wonderful, elegant, sophisticated, elevated Mexican food. The way it should be. Drinks? The same. Beautifully prepared and nicely presented. About 95% of the people that work there are women. The ambiance is welcoming, warm. Highly recommend it.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here tonight! New favorite, and will definitely be a repeat customer. The restaurant itself has such a nice airy ambience, and I love all the decor. We had cocktails (Vampiro, Paloma) two appetizers (smoked trout tostada, spicy carrots),and two entrees fish tacos, and Duck confit mole) and finished with dessert( cardamom cake)Everything was wonderful. My favorite was the duck confit mole. The beans and rice were so delicious that came with the duck. Tender black beans perfectly seasoned. Rice was next level. I'd go back just for the beans and rice! So happy I finally made it to this delightful restaurant.

We had the yam quesadilla and asparagus mole and whew it was amazing. The service left so much to be desired. As we were seated we were asked if we wanted chips and salsa and guacamole. We said "we'll see, give us a minute" and next thing you know we have some placed in front of us. We assumed they were on the house but they were not. I asked for hot sauce twice--once with the appetizers and once with our entree and from two different people (including our server) and never got some hot sauce. It was a little too loud inside to be able to hear even the other side of the table, so next time I think it is worth sitting outside and bringing your own hot sauce! But the food was really outstanding.

The food is excellent. We started with chips and two dips. Chips were made there and fabulous. We had a salad with persimmon and pomegranate with a surprise of jicama. We shared veggie tostadas that melt in your mouth. Finally we had swordfish with rice and beans in a clam sauce. Fantastic! We were so full that we didn’t get dessert, but they looked spectacular. I had a passion fruit martini that was very tasty and looked beautiful. Good service. We’ll be back to try other items on the menu.

* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Bombera Oakland to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
