Bosq Aspen Reviews
Still basking from Bosq!
Such a delicious, fun and memorable experience. We were running about 10 minutes late and I called to let them know and they were lovely. My friends dropped me to take the table and Fritz greeting me warmly. I felt bad we were late and wanted to quickly order a drink so he could get the check going but he assured me it wasnβt a problem. He was so kind!! My two friends have less expansive palates than I and were a little reluctant in ordering. Fritz was so knowledgeable in guiding us and patient with our indecision. We each loved all our dishes. I would make a different decision or two if I were doing it over, but loved everything. It was truly an exceptional dining experience. The food was sensational. We loved sitting outside. And, Fritz was amazing. My one friend who lives in NY said, βbest waiter everβ. I have already recommended Bosq to others. I hope to get back sometime!
What an experience! And it'll cost you.
Think French laundry pricing. This was an anniversary dinner so we're all about the experience and this did not disappoint. We both were really surprised at how small the restaurant was but we loved how quant that makes this restaurant. There is a really nice outdoor space so that would be a great option during nice weather. We had unique pre-dinner cocktails and I was really impressed with the mixologists creativity. The old fashion inspired drink my husband had, had butter washed bourbon and Macallan 12 in it, my drink was a clarified tomato martini, it was savory, umami deliciousness. The mixologist said he normally puts onion flowers on top of the martini but since they were past the season he went to kitchen and used a drop of basil oil as a garnish instead. It was great! As for the food it was just as if not more creative than their drinks. Definitely local produce forward. The up-charge for the heirloom tomato with caviar & brown butter was totally worth it & a stand out dish. I labeled my pics so I'll let them tell the description.
Definitely not worth it
Crikey, if this is the best that Aspen can do, goodness help Aspen. And a Michelin star, too. I'd advise Michelin to take a fresh look. I paid over $400 for a dinner that I can only describe as forgettable. The food, to be fair was not bad - if I had not come with the expectations that a Michelin star gave rise to. But the big problem was that I chose the wine pairings to go with my 5-course dinner. The kindest thing I can say is that they were eccentric. If you are having five courses, you more or less have to go with the parings, because no one wine is going to work with everything, and generally in life I have been delighted and enlightened by the sommelier's choices. I know a bit about wine, true, but this is the first time in my life I have felt let down by choice after choice. One after another was extraordinarily thin, unpleasantly so, and I can't say I'd have given tuppence for any of them, though together they cost more than the food! The sommelier himself was a nice enough fellow, but oh dear I think the cellar, or the choices, need a huge overhaul. Sorry, guys.

Bosq is so gorgeous! Everything from the ambiance to the staff is fabulous, and the food was amazing!! I had the 5 course tasting ($195; note there is a 3% service charge - about $220 before tip). Will note that I wasn't quite "full" full after the 5 course menu, but I was more than "neutral," so it was enough food. I also had a mocktail; they had a floral sounding gin-based cocktail ($25) but I didn't want to drink alcohol (worried about having a headache) and they made me a mocktail version ($18) and it tasted girly and fun (just like I like my drinks!). There is downtown Aspen parking available around, it's all per hour and seasonal rates, plus residential parking which is a bit cheaper. I don't think there's any fully free parking anywhere in the area unfortunately. Will also just mention -- the bathroom was immaculate. Smelled lovely, and I dug the dark/black vibe. Def would rec a visit here!
My first trip to Aspen for my wife and I and I wanted to go
My first trip to Aspen for my wife and I and I wanted to go someplace special for dinner. I had read about the Chef and the restaurant, and knew this was the place we wanted to try. It exceeded everyone one of our expectations. Every course of the meal was excellent, and the wine pairing that accompanied each course put the meal over the top. The service was amazing and at the end of the meal they asked if we would like to go back to the kitchen to meet the kitchen staff. HIGHLY recommend. I know the meal changes often based on seasonality, so looking forward to going back on our next trip. Thank you for an AMAZING experience. What a restaurant should be!
Absolutely superb!!!
This was a real experience as we have rarely been served such excellent, well-crafted and often unique food. Outstanding is even an understatement. Wine pairing is strongly recommended! Service is excellent in every aspect.
This is an excellent restaurant.
Everything was on point. Reservations are a must since this is one of Apen's premier restaurants. Upon arrival I was promptly greeted and was shown to my table outside. The service was excellent from being extremely attentive and fast and proper on changing the cutlery between courses. The wait staff was super knowledgeable on the dishes and described them perfectly and could answer any questions. The food wand amazing beautiful presented and was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I had the five course tasting menus and I portions were good and I felt satisfied at the end of the meal. I highly recommend trying their craft cocktails. They are truly unique and special. The wine list was excellent cans they had multiple choices for whine by the glass as well.
This restaurant meal was such a joyful experience.
The staff was excellent, the food was beautifully prepared and presented and honestly I had a little difficulty falling asleep that night because I kept reliving the wonderful evening. Do not miss an opportunity to experience this restaurant.
Beautiful and tiny restaurant in the ski village of Aspen.
They welcomed us in despite its tiny size, making us feel welcome and comfortable. There are no stuffy airs here. This is an inventive tasting menu, but you have some choice. We did the wine pairing and it was absolute divine. We had a lovely young french man that was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, the kind that makes you want to research and learn more about his chosen profession. The food is carefully crafted. Think foam and gastronomic invention. I especially remember the steak, butterscotch dessert and deer bark appetizer. However, I don't remember a bad dish and all was presented exquisitely.

Bosq nails it on every level and is definitely deserving of its Michelin star. The food, the service, the seating, the ambiance, are all exceptional. I had been wanting to go for the longest time and on our most recent trip, I waited too long, and all reservations were taken. In addition to setting the Notify Me tab, I used the Contact form to let them know of our interest and availability, and after a few exchanges with the very kind co-owner/chef's wife, Molly, we managed to get a table in the dining room on the last evening before they closed for the season. It was well worth the wait. We opted for the 5 course menu, and appreciated that we could each make different selections and were not obligated to have the same thing at each course as is the case in some tasting menu restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the roasted duck with endive, the duck liver mousse and the bison tartare. Every bite of each item, as well as the several amuse bouches, was absolute perfection, beautifully presented and timely served by professional staff. We were assisted in the selection of a bottle of wine by the knowledgeable sommelier, who hit the target with his excellent advice in narrowing down our choices on the extensive wine list. While this is surely a special occasion restaurant--and in a league of its own in Aspen--I highly recommend Bosq for any occasion and cannot wait to go back again this summer.

The 5 course tasting menu is great! I love that we got
The 5 course tasting menu is great! I love that we got choose the 5 items - only guidelines are one appetizer, 2 small plates, 1 entree and 1 dessert. Tried the duck liver, bison tartar, scallop, duck and sesame ice cream. Really delicious food for a special occasion
We came in for Valentine's Day unsure of what we were going
We came in for Valentine's Day unsure of what we were going to get. Reviews seem polarizing, but I will note most of the bad ones are from years ago. We've had such excellent Michelin starred dining experiences in Colorado, especially Beckon, that we had high expectations. Bosq blew all four of our minds. My husband did the fine and rare wine pairing, I did the somms pairing. We added on wagyu and caviar supplements. Starting with the wine, the Somm was one of the best we ever had. Super knowledgeable and hands down our best wine pairing ever. Only one dish was slightly off for us (the kumquat threw off his wine choice), but the rest of the dish was perfect with it and we were beyond impressed overall. Each dish was amazing, the flavors worked and you can tell the staff and chef put so much time in their off season tasting and melding flavors to create these dishes. Creative, delicious, and a great time. Service was lovely, someone was always nearby. We had special caviar bumps for Valentine's Day. We'll be back!!!
I wanted to love this place a lot more than I did.
It has a lot of hype because of the Michelin star, but we had much better meals in other restaurants in the area. The service could've been better, it took forever to get our drinks, and even though I had put dietary restrictions in the reservation, they did not know about them ahead of time. Everything seemed to have an up charge on top of the very high price for the several course meal.
A special anniversary experience and by far the best
A special anniversary experience and by far the best Michelin restaurant experience we've ever had. Exceptional service...the staff works together and moves like a quiet symphony without you realizing it initially. We each chose 5 different dishes so that we could share bites, which was a great suggestion by the server. We also chose the wine pairing, and each wine was described in detail by the sommelier who also shared the best way to enjoy our dishes. We opted to sit inside while everyone was outside on a warm summer evening. We loved the vibe inside and there was air conditioning (bonus in the summer!). The chef came out at the end to wish is a happy anniversary, a special touch. Known for their unique flavors, Bosq didn't disappoint! Of the 10 different dishes we shared, the only dish that wasn't a star was the duck. Cooked perfectly, we just didn't care for the sauce, a bit more Fall than Summer.
Underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant.
Service not on par either. Chef tasting was overpowered by juniper, lobster undercooked, steak overcooked. Sadly disappointed. So many other chef tasting restaurants that blow them out of the water....Catbird Seat...Central in Lima Peru stellar.
* The one and only Michelin star restaurant in Aspen, well
* The one and only Michelin star restaurant in Aspen, well deserved * A foodie's paradise for high end fine dining and wine * Food Artistry focused on locavore foraging, farming and fermentation * 9+ course Chef Menu $255++ pp or 5 courses for $185++ pp * Amazing staff * Reservations with guarantee on Tock * A wine list and custom wine matched flights that are first rate After several visits over four years along with visits to every fine dining venue in Aspen we conclude that Bosq has no rivals. Such was the judgement of Michelin as well. The food here takes you on a culinary journey showcasing Chef Dodge's love of foraging, as he is an expert on the native plants, flowers and fungi of the region. He started gathering mushrooms in the Elk Mountains back in 1997 after igniting a passion for cooking as a teenager in Aspen. Bosq is named after the Spanish name for Woodlands. His love for the culinary arts lead him to work with Ferran Adria and Jose Andres at El Bulli, arguable one of the finest and most unique restaurants in the world before its closure. Not content to rest on his laurels, Chef Dodge travels with some of his staff during the off season to dine in and learn from some of the finest restaurants in the world. The hotel dining venues in town and many others cannot compete with the food quality of a family-owned business with only around 30 seats focused solely on their guest's satisfaction. You feel like part of the family after your first visit. Vegetarians and Vegans can feel like they are first class citizens as well, as Bosq will provide great options. The small kitchen, Sous Chefs and staff punch way above their weight, dry aging duck, grilling lobster over juniper branches and avoiding the sous vide mania of many other Michelin eateries. The menu is unique, you will not find any of the dishes in Aspen or elsewhere. The wine list has a broad and deep selection of Old-World wines as well as some notable New World selections. The Somm staff are knowledgeable, engaging and passionate. I can't say enough about the staff that connects with every customer with a smile, enthusiasm for their work and a commitment to please and make you yearn to return. Kudos to the best fine dining restaurant in Aspen.
This was one of my favorite dinners to enjoy in Aspen.
We decided to enjoy the wine pairings and it was an excellent choice. It's always so fun to discover new wines especially with friends! All the courses were so delicious and memorable! Presentations were divine and it almost hurt to eat the art! As the night got colder, our waiter gladly offered a blanket. Such a thoughtful gestures. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant my next visit to Aspen.
I think this is without a doubt the best restaurant in
I think this is without a doubt the best restaurant in Aspen. Each guest can create their own 5 course tasting menu from an incredible selection. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the star of the show and they complement some amazing proteins. Don't miss the venison bark, wagyu, duck, or butterscotch dessert. Every dish I had was nothing short of spectacular. Very good and reasonable wine list. Their expert staff will help you make decisions. Bosq is clearly an expert chef's vision and they execute it perfectly.
Wow!! This definitely makes one of my top 5 dining
Wow!! This definitely makes one of my top 5 dining experiences, specifically from a foodie perspective. Me and two friends visited while on a vacation in town. We made reservations for 8 on a Sunday, so it was very chill and slow when we arrived. The spot itself is located in the shopping square in the middle of town. Perfect for people watching & sitting on the patio, especially during sunset and lovely weather. The inside is VERY small! A few scattered tables with most of their space being on the outside patio. They do have heaters and curtains/sun shade if you're looking to sit outdoors. We were so impressed with service! We got there about 30 mins early and cozied up on the outdoor couch near the fireplace for a bottle of champagne and cocktails (great selection btw) Once our table was ready, we decided to do the 5-course "Chef, Feed Me" tasting menu. You can critter choose your own tasting menu or have the pre-selected, rotating menu of options. I loved the ability to say, "Chef, Feed me!!!!" And not have to make a single decision All I can say is WOW!!! We decided to add on the two supplement courses, totaling to 7 courses. Every single thing that went into my mouth was phenomenal. If you decide to do the tasting menu, come hungry!!!! While they are very much presentation portions, everything I ate was so rich & decadent! I felt completely engorged by the end of it (but worth it) My absolute favorites were the Cai
What an incredible evening.
It was our first (hopefully of many) Michelin Star dining experience and it won't soon be forgotten. Every dish was beautifully curated and an absolute delight to the senses. The staff were all so kind, informative, and helpful. And Chef Jeff himself came out to our table to greet us and discuss his incredible, delectable creations. I've been telling literally everyone and anyone who will listen about how awe-inspiring time we had. Wow, wow, wow! Thank you so much, Bosq team! :) P.S. s/o to all the photographer homies who took pictures bc we were so lost in the sauce (literally and figuratively) we took none and it's been nice to reference other's photos when talking about the amazing creations from this incredible team. Also, reading some of the negative reviews were extremely comical to me; people will find anything they can to complain about.
Amazing dinner experience.
We were delighted by the food, service, pairings, and ambiance. The chef came out to chat with us and was happy to indulge us with explaining some of their sourcing and selections. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back!!
Locally owned Michelin starred restaurant with a 5 course
Locally owned Michelin starred restaurant with a 5 course or chef's tasting menu nightly. The portions appear small but by the end of it you are very full. Having dined at Bosq since the doors originally opened, we have seen Chef Barclay Dodge grow into his success over the years which has been a truly scrumptious adventure. Cannot wait for the summer menu! Most recent visits are priced on point for a Michelin starred restaurant of this caliber and a must visit for foodies!
Incredible meal.
Very creative flavors and presentation, and an exceptional experience overall. Love the 5-course tasting, where the amount of food is manageable and there is some control over menu selections. A couple of odd things about the sommelier, including bringing pre-poured glasses to the table for the tasting (don't recall having seen that happen) and presenting a Mt. Veeder Napa Valley cab (very clearly labeled as such on the bottle) as being a Sonoma cab, then doubling down on his mistake (in kind of a snarky manner) when I asked him about it. Still, the wine pairing was excellent and it didn't tarnish the experience overall, but it didn't fit the rest of the experience from a service perspective. Highly recommend!!!
We decided last-minute to have a Michelin experience in
We decided last-minute to have a Michelin experience in Aspen. It's a slow week for Aspen so we got a reservation the day of. Is the food good? Yes. Is the food and experience worth it or up to Michelin par? Debatable. While we had commendable service and felt that some of the dishes were good, some of the dishes were uninspiring and I had no idea why I was tasting what I was tasting. Our server only checked-in on our thoughts for two of the nine courses and it did not feel interactive at all. There's only a few tables in the restaurant anyways, so the experience should feel interactive. We had to move tables because the restaurant was freezing, despite having used the blankets that were provided to us upon sitting. A majority of time for the first few courses was spent trying to figure out where the draft (wind) was coming from. We were celebrating a special occasion and were given a candle in one of the dessert courses and a card. A nice touch but nothing special from the chef or anything. Overall I'm thankful to have had a nice dinner with great company, but I'm not certain I'd be able to recommend the restaurant to friends or family. The bill came with 3% kitchen appreciation, and the suggested tip was calculated including this 3%. Total around $1200 for three people including a few cocktails.
Beautiful Bosq
Bosq is far and away the best restaurant in Aspen, Colorado. The combination of flavors and textures are other worldly, explosive, and perfectly curated. The hospitality is harmonious in way that the staff moves about like a functional dance. The intimate setting is elegant but comfortable in a way that you feel you are sitting in the dining room of a close friend. Their Michelin is well deserved and Iβm certain they will be very receiving many more culinary awards in the future.
My wife, Kristine, and I agree that we enjoyed the most
My wife, Kristine, and I agree that we enjoyed the most fabulous 5 course dinner of our lives at Bosq last night. The complex flavors of each selection bursted on our palates with exquisite pleasure, and I'm not exaggerating. Each course naturally followed the previous one. And the hospitality was perfect. There are some great restaurants in Aspen, but to be sure, Bosq is the best of the best. John H.
A True Gem
BOSQ is a one of our favorite restaurants of all time. The vibe is hip and also elegant. Weβve been there multiple times over the years since it opened, and itβs always something new and creative. I think Chef Barclay is a real genius. There is a caviar dish I ordered twice, because we went there twice our last visit, that I still think about. There was also a cocktail, a basil infused vodka with some kind of magic, that tasted of a fresh summer salad, which truly blew my mind. I am glad this restaurant was finally recognized by Michelin with a star, and Iβm sure there are more to come.
Wow!!! This has to be the most Colorful Colorado Restaurant
Wow!!! This has to be the most Colorful Colorado Restaurant experience ever. Everything was artfully, with colorful flowers, herbs and other edibles that made each course a feast for eyes and my palate. We chose the 4 course meal, which turned out to be 7, with the Amuse Buche, a bread course and an after dinner chocolate truffle. The highlight of the meal wis the juniper smoked Lobster, tender, smoky, savory and mouthwatering. The optional wine pairing was well thought out world wine tour and a perfect addition to a memorable meal. Service was exceptional with an army of servers, and runners taking care of every detail. The place is well appointed and easy to have a conversation with my dinner partner. Obviously, everyone in Colorado knows that this restaurant just received a well-deserved Michelin Star. If in Aspen, take the plunge and enjoy a truly great meal.
A unique experience with get vibes! Food was extraordinaire
A unique experience with get vibes! Food was extraordinaire and service was impeccable.
Donβt hesitate, weβll worth it!
Amazing! We were so excited to get a reservation spot and were asked if weβd like to be outside when arriving since they had room. The venue is beautiful and everyone is so attentive and friendly! We each got different items as our tasting and we were so excited to share/try them all. My favorites were the scallops, beef tenderloin, squash blossom, and while the chocolate dessert was so so amazing looking (on custom mushroom plates) the butterscotch was SO GOOD. Definitely splurge and treat yourself!! Reservations book up fast so book early, you can customize your meal once seated.
It is worth every cent!
We came here for our wedding anniversary with out 10-year-old daughter and sat on the charming patio. It was expensive, but worth every single cent, especially for a special occasion. The patio was so lovely, with live music playing outside. It was such a personalized experience, starting with Molly, the owner personally emailing me and then leaving a card for us to celebrate our anniversary as well as a complimentary dessert. We did the 5 courses, and were so full. So many times with tasting menus, we leave hungry after spending so much money, but this was not the case here. They even accommodated our daughter with an amazing pasta that wasnβt on the menu. It was such a lovely night and one I will never forget. I would definitely come here over anything else if we wanted an amazing night. It is worth the splurge.
All around spectacular
Spectacular-tasting menu foods; artistry In presentation; server excellence; chef Barclay visit to table; ambiance- even outdoors; wine selections and guidance; A special memory ππ
There are NO WORDS or pictures that does this experience
There are NO WORDS or pictures that does this experience justice!!!AMAZING food the service is capable, and they get you!!!! Seriously GET YOU!!! Love them!!!
This is an exquisite restaurant that never fails to impress.
From the wine list to the incredible tastings as well as friendly and attentive staff this is a must go -to on every single visit to Aspen. I'd give it 500 stars if I could.
Still dreaming of this food!! The steak, scallops, Duck.
.. literally ALL of it, was A+. We sat at the bar, and both Nicks (wine sommelier and bartender) were incredibly warm, kind, and knowledgeable. Easily my new favorite restaurant in Aspen. Our entire party agreed that between the food, the experience, and the service -- it all was amazing and exceeded expectations.
Wow! What an amazing dining experience.
My colleague and I were in town for the Food & Wine Classic and were recommended to Bosq by a dear friend, who's worked with Chef Barclay. We were able to get in on Sunday evening for an early dinner. We opted for the five course tasting, wine pairing and shared a desert. We were served by Daniel and Emily was our Sommelier. They were both extremely knowledgeable, friendly and perfectly attentive. The food was artfully presented, inventive and exciting, without being fussy or overworked. If I had to pick a favorite course, I think it would be the scallops, although truly everything I tasted was delicious. Bosq is well worth the splurge. Treat yourself! You won't regret it.
Food and wine were killer Natalie our server however .
.......absolutely crush it World class, with a down to earth vube
Possibly the best restaurant I've ever been to.
.. Every dish was amazing. I did a lot of tasting menus in Italy this summer in Capri and Lake Como - this beats all of them no question. Also, the service was best ever... I was at the bar and highly recommend. The bar tender was so nice, attentive, and knowledgeable of the dishes. He checked in constantly and explained every dish in detail and talked about the chef and the restaurant. This is the only chef owned restaurant in Aspen and it really shows. You can see and taste the care and thought that goes into every dish and the use of local ingredients is phenomenal. They forage local items, use local elk, etc. There was a local mini candied pinecone that I loved on the gelato. The scallop and elk was cooked perfectly. The bar top has a gold dog trinket embedded in it representing the chef's dog, meaningful portraits are hung, etc there is just so much thought, care, and love in the restaurant you can tell the team loves what they're doing and it makes all the difference and shows in the food, service, and ambiance. I could go on... Just go!
I was recommended Bosq by a friend that mentioned the chef
I was recommended Bosq by a friend that mentioned the chef was nominated for the James Beard Award. It was easy making reservations through open table. They even seated us early. We reserved for a special dining experience which was the tasting menu. 5 courses for $180. Additional options like $35 caviar bump offered as well. I love how the variety of dishes offered allows you to explore to your palates' desires. It's located in the middle of downtown Aspen. Small chic interior restaurant with a diverse cocktail menu. We were first surprised with a chef's appetizer which was pretty amazing not really sure how to describe it and it was served on smooth stones. Very elegant plating. Short rib was incredible our best dish of the night. Meat was so tender almost like a buttery texture as you bite through. Truffled potato appetizer was rich and creamy. Beef tartare very surprising citrus taste with a variety of textures. House made sourdough and butter had a very crispy outer shell but warm and fluffy soft interior had a nice sour hint. Balanced very nicely with the cultured buttery Scallop very rich with flavor. Loved the combination of the mushroom with it. The sauce complimented the dish very well. Elk was perfectly smoked and crisp exterior with soft and flavorful interior. Cooked to perfection for medium rare. Duck 2.0 was moist tender did not have an overly gamy flavor. I wish there was more Beef tenderloin - our server poured a sauce that was sweet with a hint of onion to balance the dish. Butterscotch was our favorite dessert perfect blend of pudding and butterscotch toffee topping. Pretty similar to creme brΓ»lΓ©e without the caramelized top. Our server was Tyler for the night. He was well versed with the menu items and attentive to our needs. Overall an excellent date night place definitely on the more expensive side but worth the experience.
The very best in Aspen.
The portion is perfect and taste really good. Will definitely want to come back.
Came for hubby's birthday.
Amazing food and fantastic service. Big shout out to Nick for being incredibly accommodating and provided us the best experience. Thank you!
Local chef brings the highest level of cuisine and panache.
Ever changing menu. I do see him oftentimes at the summer markets.
My husband dined here last year on our first trip to Aspen
My husband dined here last year on our first trip to Aspen and made a return visit this year. Dare I say, our second visit was even better than the first. We sat at the bar and were thoroughly entertained by Justin, the bartender, as we dined on delicious food, cocktails and wine. The 5 course was the perfect amount of food to leave us satiated and satisfied. It was as beautiful as it was delicious. Hoping we can make another trip back to this wonderful establishment.
