BRAT Restaurant London Reviews from The Last Year
Underwhelming food
On arrival we were super excited to eat here. The staff and the ambience were great. Really cosy but bustling atmosphere. The wine we ordered turned out to be out of stock but instead of honouring the price and suggesting an alternative, the sommelier suggested one alternative that was twice the price. We eventually chose a bottle that we were happy with but we felt the sommelier was not very engaging or helpful unfortunately. The food sadly was really underwhelming. We ordered the smoked potatoes which were slightly under cooked and the seasonal vegetables which were just a bowl of mixed cabbage some of which were so large that they were also under cooked and we were barely able to chew. The cheesy leeks and courgette bread were excellent though. Overall we felt we could have cooked equally as good at home and really didn’t understand the hype. Disappointing on the food front I’m afraid.
Good, but nothing great…and expensive too!
Overpriced foodie hot spot. If paying exorbitant prices for not so delicious food, this is the place for you. Wait staff was pleasant as is the overall ambiance of the restaurant, but food was expensive and just not that flavorful. The sole had no flavor at all, and the steak we ordered was OK but nothing fantastic for 70 quid. If you’re drawn to Michelin stars and places everyone is bragging about, you might love it. We found it meh.
Excellence, without the Snob
Excellence, that still leaves room for human error with grace. This casual dining experience was not over the top “posh”, but still an extremely enjoyable experience nonetheless for a Michelin restaurant. You enjoy good food and great service, look no further. Very pleased.
A restaurant that never disappoints
Our long awaited second visit to Brat had finally arrived and the expectation among the family group was high to say the least. My last visit with my wife was exceptional, and on that occasion we had been masterfully looked after by the joyous Canadian export Victoria, and although she was not working on this occasion, we could not have been happier with the knowledgeable and charming Johnny who was more than capable of filling the void. From the moment we arrived, our every need from looking after our luggage, to sitting us down at an excellent window table , to guiding us through the menu of drinks and culinary magnificence was effortlessly managed. This restaurant simply has it all, from front of house, to a kitchen that has chefs who prepare and present food to a level that simply can only be applauded. The relaxed atmosphere, and happy buzz of satisfied guests creates an ambiance that is wonderful to be part of. The choice of wine and drinks is substantial, and the use of seasonal ingredients in the menu reminds you that the fruit and veg we generally eat falls significantly below what it potentially can be. The bill for five people was more than acceptable, and the joy of the family experience will keep us smiling until we have the opportunity to visit again. This is a restaurant experience that simply is second to none. Love, love loved it.
A great find. Top food in a relaxed atmosphere
Super meal. Food was delicious. We shared various dishes and all were either very good or amazing. Place is casual and relaxed. Staff were friendly. Prices reasonable. Iwould definitely recommend the place.
The food was amazing, the anchovy bread is a must try.
Great wine list and friendly team members.
Excellent
Excellent restaurant. The food is definitely Michelin worthy. Everything tasted great. All the courses were delicious.
Great food, great venue
Great venue and incredible food. You can taste the smokey flavour throughout each dish, it was a lovely communal way of eating. Good wine, good value, great service. Would definitely recommend!
Don't order too much, then you'll enjoy this trendy place
avoid taking the server's advice on the number of dishes to order; no need for 3 per person. I enjoyed the numerous small plates we shared, but by the time we got to the mains I had had enough. Notably the duck rice was stuck to the pan; the server said it was "crisp", but it couldn't be scraped off. Overall impression was influenced by the excessive quantity. If you restrain yourself you will enjoy it much bettter
Lacklustre & unmemorable
We were here for our anniversary, and were given two complimentary glasses of champagne, which was a lovely touch. Following that, the attention to detail significantly declined and the Michelin star prices were becoming difficult to justify; the food was good, but distinctly lacking anything special. With two mains coming to £100 alone and service being a bit of a mess, this was so disappointing. Firstly we confirmed a nut allergy with our waitress, only to be served a salad covered in hazelnuts about five minutes later, and the waitress seemed annoyed (?) and curt when we immediately pointed this out. This would have ended our night after the starter had my boyfriend eaten it and it was bizarre to feel as though she thought we were just being difficult. Allergy awareness should surely be a requirement. We ordered sardine toast to start, which was great. We also ordered the citrus salad, and for mains we ordered John Dory (£46) and the mutton (£50) with wood fired greens and potatoes. It was ultimately just fine; we both agreed we’d had better dishes at a gastropub for half the price. For dessert we ordered the olive oil ice cream and cheesecake with rhubarb. Both were unmemorable. The cheesecake was dry, not the Spanish creaminess we were expecting, with a careless handful of salt on the ice cream. Overall, the experience was a real let down having come in with such high hopes.
Perfect service and very tasty food
It’s a unique experience, not the usual Michelin star restaurant. The service is perfect, nothing is too much. Staff are engaging and dis robe the food very well. The open kitchen is like a show . The bread with anchovies is exceptionally good . I enjoyed my duck and rice , the wine selection is interesting. We had a very good Sancerre and some champagne to start with. It was a treat , not our usual diner. Worth every penny !!!
Brat, you Brat
Brat has just earned its Star. The food was good but I felt like the quality of the beef was not great with allot of fat. The beef did have a good smokey flavor. Dover sole was on the dry side fro cooking on the grill. Excellent wine list and decent cocktails. Service was excellent!
Very good, but not excellent
Good, but perhaps didn’t quote live up to the hype. Service was friendly, sommelier in particular was knowledgable and we never felt there was any intentional ‘upsell’. Great wine list, interesting and reasonably priced. We started with oysters and both had multiple large shards of shell in which made for unpleasant eating. Shame, as the flavour was great. Steak tartare was up there with the best I’ve had, I’m glad we ordered toasted bread to go with as bitter leaves didn’t have the heft to support it. The signature pillowy bread (we went for the cheese and leek version) is indeed a showstopper and a must-have if you’re here. Scallop had great flavour but was a little overcooked and, at £14 for one, pretty expensive. Mussels were a little gritty but we loved the addition of citrus to the beautiful sauce. Turbot was delicious - potatoes and peppers ordered for sides were tasty but very very oily. Overall a nice night, glad we went, but we probably would not return. Prices reflect the Michelin star rating but not, in our opinion, the cooking or experience.
Great unique menu, a great experience too, fantastic service to match
This place is a must visit, dishes here are incredible and unique. Definitely an experience not just a meal. Huge thanks to chef here whom works very hard using seasonal foods. The service was so good, a friendly relaxed feel, and nothing is too much if you need anything. Duck rice and cheesecake were really lovely, bread and onion butter was really nice too. Thank you Brat we will be back x
Amazing restaurant
Everything was exceptional. The food was delicious, the drinks were made well and the service was top notch. The restaurant is amazing.
Neighbourhood restaurant that is no brat.
Lived up to the hype. Friendly, attentive staff. Food was incredible - bread with burnt butter, delicious wines. Courses arrived in no particular order but were absolutely wonderful - each dish a revelation. Steak, Squid and duck rice were stand outs. Some tables are close together but it has a sharing vibe and ambiance that it doesn't really matter.
Still issues with food sequence
Cramped table with seating so close to the next table. For starters, Oyster was too sweet. Anchovy on flat bread was excellent Bread with sardine was good as was Squid with beans. Mussels was good - could have had more Mussel that was open as a number were shut and small portion for the price. The Pigeon skewer was good - small amount of meat- breast and hardly any on the leg. Beef rib - over done unfortunately with excessive amount of fat. Wood fire green was good. Service was good. Negroni was average as was martini. More thought need to be given to order of dishes as serving pigeon and then squid as not great for sequence of taste on the palate.

Brat Tucked away in a former strip club is this cozy, dimly lit restaurant cooking plates inspired by the beautiful Basque Country. Fire is central to everything they do and that's evident from the smell of smoke that penetrates the bar as soon as you walk through the door. Chef Tomos Parry, who made a name for himself at fashionable Kitty Fischer's in Mayfair, focuses on simple dishes executed perfectly. Whole grilled seafood ('brat' is an old English word for turbot) sits alongside their delicious housemade breads topped with olive oil and sardines. The cherry on top of this whole experience was their basque cheesecake with rhubarb. To say we could have eaten three or four slices would be an understatement.
Amazing dinner
Amazing dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. The turbot, dover sole, beef sirloin, aged mutton and beef rib are really great. One of the best meals.
Terrible!
Awful service, pretentious and genuinely rude. It felt like a complete waste of time and money, with no reason to pay heavy bills for simple food and for non-exciting service. What is all this hype about?!
5 star experience
Simply amazing. Would highly recommend the sardines on toast and squash with cheese. Service was 5 star from all staff and our waiter, who we didn’t catch the name of, but was lovely and beyond attentive. The restaurant oozed sophistication and style, and the desserts were delicious also.

RECOMMEND! Brat is a delightful small restaurant with a cozy vibe and delicious food. Service is top shelf -- including the reservation process -- who accommodated a 1 hour push back of our start time because of a long running theater show and traffic. Its dining area and kitchen are one space so many are treated to a view of the wood fired stove and chefs at work. Many interesting menu options from the starters to mains right through to dessert. Enjoy!
Visited BRAT in London lured by its Michelin Star.
Ambiance was nice with an open kitchen and grill. Tables were placed close together but managed to create a cozy and not claustrophobic vibe. Service was very good. The food, unfortunately, was generally disappointing. We ordered the roasted clams, chorizo and puffed bread to start. All were tasty but the portions were very small especially for the price point. For example, the chorizo was effectively 4 small bites. Most disappointing was our main - a whole grilled turbot - the restaurant's signature dish which we ordered for the three of us to share. What was presented to us was a soggy fish swimming in an unpleasant gelatinous liquid with little flavor except for smoke from the fire. It was so completely off putting we barely touched it. We had really looked forward to this meal and left shocked by the experience and confused the restaurant had obtained a Michelin star.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
