Showed up to a half full restaurant.
..for breakfast...but refused us because we didn't have a reservation. Seems pretty stupid...
Be the first to ReplyI give it only three stars because of the lovely ambience.
It was warm and inviting. However, the food was terrible and I was more than disappointed. I love watching Gordon Ramsey on Masterchef. His expectations are high, and so we're mine. The restaurant was fairly empty. Still, the cocktail was whatever. My fish and chips was horrible. The chips were tasteless and thrown on the plate. On top of it a big, greasy piece of fish which I could have made better blindfolded. My friend's dish was also mediocre. And it was pricey. The problem here is that the gap between price and quality/experience was enormous. I felt cheated.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my best restaurants destinations in London.
The starter was great the main course was delicious. And the desert was the best. The head waiter was very friendly
Be the first to ReplyI had high hopes for Bread Street Kitchen in Southwark,
I had high hopes for Bread Street Kitchen in Southwark, with this being my first dining experience at a Gordon Ramsay restauraunt, sadly my hopes were not met, and I had a rather disappointing dining experience to mark my trip to London.I did find the warehouse-style decor to be intriguing, it was unique and innovative and it wasn't something I see too often elsewhere in the city. On a different floor, there is another restaurant titled Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza, so this is obviously another unique idea of combining two restaurants in one building from the Gordon Ramsay restaurants brand. The staff did seem friendly, however the service was slow. I was told Gordon comes into the restaurant twice a week, I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I'm surprised that they'd let the standards slip so low if that's the case.I ordered the roast chicken dinner, I was told that this would have to be served without the gravy or the Yorkshire Puddings to be gluten-free, I was disappointed with this, especially considering how the replacement sauce was bland and still left the kitchen tasting very dry - I don't understand how hard it would have been to make a fresh batch of the gravy gluten-free, I was told the only gluten-containing part of the gravy was the mustard. My meal as a whole was poor, it certainly wasn't a high-end dish to warrant the £23 + service charge price-tag, I found the chicken to be dry, bland and overcooked, while the chips were again just bland, huge chunks of potato, they had no crisp or flavour to them. The vegetables on the side, tasted like they'd been left-over from another order a couple of hours prior, they were cold! The only saving grace of the meal was the soup, while it was nothing spectacular, the roasted tomato soup was good, and the creme fraiche was a wonderful addition, adding a creaminess. I did find the soup to be a little overpriced too, especially considering this is one of Gordon's more "affordable restaurants", especially considering bread is charged extra, of which there wasn't a gluten-free alternative.2* - A slightly generous two-star rating is in order, mainly for the friendly staff and the soup and the fact they open and serve food until pretty late, but this isn't somewhere I'd recommend or even bother to return.
