Food and drinks were awesome, just like I used to have when I was a kid in Hong Kong.

You will not be surprised to find nothing (good food or services) here. Never never try the clay pot rice .... the rice was still partially raw, meat smelt so stinky and not completely cooked. So called HK Style Milk Tea tasted like overnight bitterness trash.

The New Broadway Tea Restaurant, a new style of people, has officially launched a western style restaurant with Hong Kong characteristics. The tea restaurant is a fast-food restaurant originated in Hong Kong. Its unique culture of Hong Kong-style tea restaurant is that Western style has Western style, Chinese style has Chinese style if you want to eat Chinese style, and that cup of Hong Kong-style milk tea with rich flavor, let you find the flavor of Hong Kong

Food and service are excellent. They serve authentic Hong Kong style cafe food. By far the best around the area. Will come back again for sure!

Looks like they remodeled this Bay Area long standing HK style cafe. It's brighter and newer inside. Service is nice and courteous, thru will even pack up your left over instead of toddy you a few boxes. The food is ok, somehow my black bean fish over rice is spicy which is not what I expected. They have two beef flank over fried noodle, one is with curry and one is without, make sure you order the right one. Lastly they simply lied the menu, so there's no more special items like 梅菜炒飯 anymore.

Came here after they remodeled, reopened under new ownership. Menu is completely different, missing a lot of items from prior owner, no more rice porridge, baked dishes, curry pork shop, Hainan chicken, beef tripe noodles, sandwiches, macaroni soup and Xo rice rolls! Dishes now on the menu are ordinary dishes, nothing special or HK about it. The place looks clean and the staff was nice, but if you are looking for that HK comfort food, this place does hit the spot.

It's finally reopened! The interior looks amazing compared to before. New floors, tables, dishes, restrooms, etc. So much more modern now.The food is great as always but not as much variety as before. However, this HK style cafe serves the cozy, comforting foods I know and love. Service is alright too. They were pretty quick and responsive to requests. Overall, it's quite good compared to before. The modern and cozy ambiance with the comforting food really makes it feel like home.Hours are now 11 am - 2:30 pm; 5pm - 9 pm
Be the first to ReplyIt says they are open on yelp and other food ordering
It says they are open on yelp and other food ordering services. You place an order and drive to go pick it up and realize it is under construction. The lady at the door said I will be open in a few weeks. Why are you open for business on yelp and accepting orders?

Stopped by the restaurant at noon on Sunday, Oct 30, 2022, and it looks like it may be closed either permanently or temporarily. This was my first time returning to the restaurant in 3+ years. I used to love coming here for HK style cafe offerings from wonton noodle soup, beef chow fun, HK style French toast, and HK style coffee milk tea. I hope they open back up someday.

Not Americanized. Hainan chicken soup: served with free range chicken with bones. The type you see at ranch 99 not the American style chickens from Costco or Whole Foods with the large areas of breast meat. The r99 chickens are more expensive but they do that to get the tougher skin so they can serve pieces with bone. Not Americanized where there is a boneless piece of meat in the soup. They serve the soup with Hong Kong style chow Meiji noodles which don't soggy or disintegrate. Served with lettuce for texture. Choy sum with garlic: not on the menu. I asked for some Asian veg and he made it with garlic. More fiber with stem and leaf. Fast food Hong Kong style. Food quality for the chicken soup seems better than the other places which use restaurant depot quality chicken. Veggies all sourced from local farmers growing veggies. Low reviews not accurate. Food quality much better than most independent restaurants if you know what to order

Went there for lunch today (Saturday) and there were only 3 tables with customers while other restaurants on the block were packed. The baked pork chop I ordered explained why. Hiding under the cheese was half a slice of something so soft that it had the texture of fat + half-chewed/digested/ decomposed flesh. Small slivers of the same thing made up the other half of the "meat" portion. The waiter seemed experienced. He immediately apologized, threw away the dish and took it off the bill. We sat next to the kitchen and I started hearing people screaming at each other after the waiter entered to bring the bad news. Two kitchen staff then began to stand up straight side by side and stared at us through the serving window for 10 minutes straight as we rushed to finish and got out of this creepy place.

It gave me a total but I thought I just pick it at the restaurant. When I went to pick it up, the lady rudely told me that she need to re- calculate it as the prices online are incorrect. The total went up by a lot. I asked how much were each dish and she told me to take a menu home to see. Unfortunately I was in a rush so I just paid for it. The food wasn't even tasty. Never will I go back or recommend this place. This is not how you treat your customers. I could of just left
Be the first to ReplyIf you're in the area looking for a SOLID Hong Kong
If you're in the area looking for a SOLID Hong Kong breakfast selection (western plates / breakfast noodles / jook-porridge-congee) at a great deal at $10 (before 10:30am), which also INCLUDES a good HK Milk tea (sweetened with condensed milk as it should be!), this is your place.I know, you may be able to find cheaper in SF, but this is the Peninsula, and just a bowl of congee/porridge can easily run you $12+ in this region. My husband and I both got jooks which were piping hot and delicious (just can't seem to make it the same at home), and we really liked our lai cha. The accompanying Chinese donut portion seemed small off the bat, but it ended up the perfect amount. The fried peanut butter toast was HUGE and yummy, almost too much peanut butter and the two of us could barely finish it after the jook!Service was friendly and efficient, and food came fast. What more can you ask for?Note: Yelp hours post that they open at 10am, but there was a sign inside that said that they open from 9am-6pm.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SPOT, MY GO-TO SPOT, FOR DELICIOUS HONG KONG STYLE CAFE FOOD. They got all the popular dishes, entrees, snacks, drinks and beverages! They're made with fresh ingredients and everything taste so good! The staff is great, they know whatsup, they ain't trying to waste anyone's time, they're direct and straight to business. Give them your order and they send it straight to the kitchen. No fuss no muss. Although some times I run into an issue with mobile order, when I get to the restaurant and my food isn't ready. But it's because their device is receiving mobile orders late or something. They're quick to resolve the issue so not too much to complain there!

Despite the sad Yelp score this place definitely has a soft spot in my heart as I've eaten here since childhood. The service is definitely nothing to wow at (usually 2-3 servers no matter if it's a slow Monday lunch or bustling Friday night) but I honestly never expect Michelin service or anything close when I come to places like these. The food here, in my opinion, has always hit the spot for me here (though some dishes are a bit on the oilier side) and definitely is a comfort food kind of vibe. I also think the prices are very fair considering portion size and such. Never had to wait long for my take out (15-20 minutes) in all my years and likewise for dining in. Also love getting their iced lemon tea (or at least that's what I think it's called in English) and their hot HK milk tea is another favorite :)

Indoor was full but outdoor seating was not so I decided to seat outside but no one was coming out to greet us so I walked in. The waiter handed me a few paper menus for me to grab and asked me to seat myself outside. So I was seating there for a while no one comes out so I walked in to plaing orders. Food comes out soon but ... after while no one comes out so walked in to pay. Hmm what services? two waiters were covering entire restaurant so lack of services, bad attitude, sticky tables, and dirty dishes especially noodle bowls.
Be the first to ReplyLove this place for the black bean fish with bitter melon.
Their preserved egg jook is also a must! Love coming to eat here. The team is also super friendly. Great, fast service. The menu has something for everyone!
Be the first to ReplyNot sure why this is rated so low.
Good clean tasting food that reminds me of good old Hong Kong. Service wasn't bad at all.
Be the first to ReplyBroadway bistro is kind of alright.
I had their beef brisket braised noodles $14.50. The restaurant had one other party at 6pm. Service was is as expected for a Hong Kong style cafe. Prices have gone up since I've been here in April. The prices on their own website will be different than the printed menu. It looks like they were recently printed because they were on 8.5x11 paper and not lamented. As for my meal, the briskets were tasty. I didn't ask for it, but it came with a side of XO sauce. Usually for braised noodles, there are little pieces of green onions and/or cassia (Chinese cinnamon.) Broadway Bistro didn't have neither. As for portion size, I left the restaurant a little hungry.

Mongolian Beef: ordered it without rice, just as an entrée. At First I thought $16.50 was high priced for it...........until I ordered it at other places. This place has a much larger portion, the Beef is much better quality, the onions and peppers are cooked so much better, and the sauce has such a better taste. It is definitely worth the price.
