Burma Love San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year
Worth the wait.
Excellent menu & very good cocktails. A great location to start your evening in one of SFs most vibrant neighborhoods. Don't forget to order the tea leaf salad!

We all got different types of noodles, but I think the curry would have been a better choice. The noodles were a bit plain and didn't have a lot of flavor. The staff were very nice though and brought us over a side dish of curry with hi it us even asking or complaining. Will need to go back and try the other food.

Food was great Ambiance is good, smaller place you have to definitely wait if you don't have a reservation. Service was good, quick, attentive to details, can get drinks in the bar area as you wait. Slightly on the expensive side, 3 dishes and 3 drinks with tip $190

The food here is so delicious! My favorite was the tea leaf salad, which surprised me by how good it was. The different mix of ingredients makes for such a good texture - I love when there's different types of crunch in my salad. The sambal shrimp was also very good, and the spicy noodle dish (forgot exact name) was good/okay. I would go back and try other dishes next time but definitely get the tea leaf salad again. The ambiance is very pretty and nice to sit in, and the servers were all kind and attentive. The pricing is quite expensive/a bit too much, but I did end up with some leftovers.

First time having Burmese food and it was delicious! We were visiting the city and found this option and saw some really interesting dishes we wanted to try. Our server was great and attentive! We started with the tea leaf salad and was probably one of our favorites. The flavors and textures are so unique, nothing I've had before. It was sooo good! Definitely order it. The garlic noodles were a little underwhelming, would've liked it a little more garlicky. The group really liked the curry as well. The wok-tossed chili was amazinggg! We loved that one the most. Amazing flavor and tender beef. Really nice lunch here! Check them out.

I've been a fan of the Burma Club/Love/Superstar family of restaurants since before the pandemic. They're one of my top go-to's that I like to take friends to. Service is great, and staff are prepared to recommend what to order and accommodate dietary restrictions. The Laphet (green tea leaf) salad is a must on the menu. They mix it tableside, which provides a creative visual experience that precedes the delicious gustatory experience that follows. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's rare that everything at one place tastes delicious, but this place is the exception.

My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner with a group of 9. It was easy to get a reservation week of and it was very nice of them to seat the first of our party while the rest of us were still finding parking/walking over (parking is very difficult to find in the area so would rec carpool, uber, bus, etc). I was happy that they sat us at a large round table with a lazy susan in the center so that we could do family style easily. Atmosphere was pretty lively. They were super busy on a Thursday night and it took a while to get our servers attention a few times, but other than that our server was very helpful and food came out quick. We ordered platha and dip, tea leaf salad, coconut chicken noodle soup, nan pia dok, mango chicken, wok tossed chilli lamb, and mint chicken. The group favorite was the platha and dip and we ordered another near the end of the meal just to have it again. All together, 5 appetizers/salad and 5 main dishes were more than enough for our group of 9 - we probably over ordered a little as there was still some left over to take home. For drinks I got the burmarita and one of their seasonal drinks, both were delicious I would definitely recommend Burma Love for group dinners and date night.
We have been here two times now.
Once on a Saturday night with no reservation and waited about 20 mins. The other time was a Sunday where we got seated right away. It is a very busy place so sometimes the hostess will be flustered. We got told to wait by bar but then had to come back to confirm we were added to waitlist (we weren't). Majority of the food is super flavorful and only complaint is that the garlic noodles which we got both times tasted completely different. Second time we ordered they were a bit flavorless. It's a busy spot so it's common for something to get forgotten. We got our plain order of rice at the end of our meal after asking a few people. Get the Platha if you haven't tried it. So fresh and tasty.

It was very good! The food was delicious and the ambience always great. It was a little loud, however it was loud with conversation and laughter. Some people aren't into that, I am. It felt like you put 50 of the happiest reunions into one space:)

Absolutely loved the food served here at Burma Love! My party booked this reservation 2 days in advance and we all enjoyed the service we received here. Overall 5/5 experience with the food and would highly recommend this spot for those interested in trying some of the ethnic cuisine offered in SF!
Delicious food, try the calamari and prawn noodles.
The ambience is great and the service is friendly and efficient.
Absolutely love Burma.
10/10 every time. Our go tos are the platha & dip, chicken with fresh mint with coconut rice, coconut chicken noodle soup. Love the ambiance as well.
The food was okay and the service was okay.
We got the Burmese curry, shrimp garlic noodles and calamari. It wasn't seasoned well the broth on the curry was really runny. The noodles only had some flavor if you dipped in the chili sauce. The only good thing we had was their cocktail. Even their milk tea was bland. Everything was under seasoned. It was a very underwhelming experience. As someone who has lived in Asia most of their life, this place is not authentic.
Overpriced ok food, ambiance ok, service was not good even
Overpriced ok food, ambiance ok, service was not good even though there were many servers they were too busy in conversation at opposed to actually taking care of their customers. they asked for us to pay before the food was actually brought to the table. Didn't check on us one time after food was brought. Don't understand the excellent reviews. Meh
Had a reservation for a larger group on a Thursday evening
Had a reservation for a larger group on a Thursday evening and we were able to get seated immediately. It's a pretty spacious restaurant and we got seated at a table with a lazy Susan for optimal family style sharing. Would recommend taking public transportation to get here though, as parking is difficult in this area. I always thought I was just neutral on Burmese food, but I think I just haven't been to the right places. The food at Burma Love was spectacular. Started off with Tea Leaf Salad, which was truly a party in my mouth with all of the various crunchy textures from the nuts, the fresh lettuce, and the beans. They say salads only taste good with lots of ingredients, and this salad indeed had a wide variety of toppings. Each bite was a little different and was a pleasant surprise. We also ordered the Platha & Dip, which my friend described as "if roti and a croissant had a baby." So many delicious buttery layers of the bread with the flavorful chicken sauce on top. The Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup was comforting and rich and one of my favorites of the night. Felt like a warm hug, and the chicken in the soup was tender. Loved that the toppings were beautifully laid out on the side as well. Other dishes we ordered included Minced Chicken with Fresh Mint, Mango Chicken, Nan Pia Dok, and Wok Tossed Chili Lamb. Each dish had such distinct flavors and I could really taste the freshness of the mint, the sweetness of the mango, the bouncy chew of the noodle, and light spice of the chili lamb. All very well crafted dishes. I wish I could've taken buckets of the coconut rice home; it had a strong savory coconut flavor with fried onions on top and really pulled together all the dishes in this meal. Ordered a Burmarita for my drink, which tasted like a standard margarita but with a twist with the tamarind. Great meal and great spot for a group!
Great place or casual lum=nch
Casual restaurant. They are well known for their tea leaf salad. Service was excellent. WE were there about 2:30 for luinch and they nwere not very busy which allowed plenty of time to talk.
The acoustics are horrible in here.
You have to yell for the others sitting at your table to hear your. My ears were assaulted by the noise of everyone talking. A stressful dining experience.

Burma Love still shines! We were worried the place was overhyped but we're not disappointed. The tea leaf salad is magnificent, with a great combination of textures and flavors. We also highly recommend the beef curry, which paired well with the coconut rice side. The coconut rice itself is impressive and has more flavor than any other coconut rice I have had. This place should definitely be on your list when in the area, but be prepared for a bit of a wait. Head over to Zeitgeist next door for a beer if you are stuck waiting.
Food was incredible and the server was great at
Food was incredible and the server was great at recommending things based on the most vague information about our tastes. The decorations are simple and elegant. Great place for a date night.
This is my new go-to.
Beautiful and warm atmosphere, with really attentive servers who were so knowledgeable of the menu. We got the rainbow salad, which was incredible. It had lots of different ingredients in a chili oil dressing and several different types of tofu. It paired perfectly with the Shan Noodles with tofu. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the sauce used in this dish was savory and addicting. For both dishes, they were tossed together table side, which was a really nice touch. For drinks we got the Kipling's Elixir and Lost In Mandalay, both were very delicious, but I'd have to say Lost in Mandalay was my favorite, as I really love smokey mezcal cocktails. Another big plus for this restaurant is that they have a large menu, so we are excited to come back and try everything they have to offer.
Highly recommend
Definitely the best Burmese in San Francisco! Delicious food and excellent drinks! I would recommend going with a group of friends so you can try a bit of everything!
No Love Here
My wife and I visited during our trip to San Francisco. The food here was undeniably very good and we both enjoyed our meal to a point. What spoilt the evening and then some was the fact that because we were tourists and travelling from abroad, Uber was not working on my phone. I politely tried to get the attention of a waiter cleaning down the (unoccupied) table next to us, once we had paid for our meal. He raised his head, acknowledging he had heard me and then went back to wiping the table down and ignored us for the next 20/30 seconds. The maitre d then came over and asked what the issue was and I asked if she could please order us a taxi back to our hotel. Her exact words were ‘ummm I don’t think I know how to do that’ while grimacing and acting most awkwardly. She didn’t offer to help in some other way even though I explained the situation with Uber and so my wife and I were forced to leave and stand on the street in the cold at about 10pm maybe 3 miles from our hotel and it took about 15-20 mins to hail a taxi. This was the fakest, most insincere hospitality either of us have experienced in 4 trips to the US and a really ugly experience. Essentially once we’d paid and tipped they wanted nothing to do with us. Hospitality it was not!
Flavorful Experience
Decided to grab lunch here while attending a conference at Moscone. Had always wanted to try Burmese food and this location is not too far from convention center. Sat at the bar and started chatting with Ashwini, who was managing that area. She recommended the pork belly with ginger and chilli. Paired it with their own brew- Burma Ale. Dish was very flavorful with a kick from the chilis. Pork belly was well cooked, soft and succulent. Had a side salad which was fresh and also had some kick due to jalapenos and also included a side of rice. Overall, it was a flavorful and enjoyable lunch. I would go back when in town.
Just ok
Had a great time at Burma Love. Our server was super friendly and very knowledgeable, and the food was great. The Fiery Vegetables had crisp vegetables, firm tofu, and tender chicken. The Garlic Noodles were garlicky and toothsome, with peanuts, zucchini, and tofu. Lastly, the Shrimp Chutney was rich and savory, with bold seafood flavors and an excellent spice. The coconut rice is a definite upgrade, with a sweetness that perfectly contrasted the savory dishes. Ask for a side of Thai chilis, which are minced and lightly acidic, and outrageously spicy. Overall a great dining experience and I will be back as soon as possible.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
