Delicious food - superb value!
My wife and I decided to escape the Irish winter by spending a few months in Malaga. Looking for a special restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday, we found Cafe de Paris just round the corner from our apartment - and what a find! The atmosphere is informal for a Michelin starred restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful - service overall was great. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch - every course was a treat. The quality of the food was excellent - a perfect balance of flavours and textures. The whole experience was entirely satisfying - even the bill, which amounted to 120 Euro - including tip. Fantastic value for money for 3 courses and wine for two people. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Went here with my girlfriend to have dinner as it was rated in the Michelin's guide. We took the tasting menu and were really not disappointed. The combination of the sardine with the fresh aubergine creme was delicious. The silky smooth artichoke soup went so well with the charred, buttery scallop. Great tastes, delivered by an ever friendly staff (also quite helpful in English). Would definitely recommend this place for a quiet, more premium dinner in Malaga. Great food for a decent price.

This restaurant in La Malagueta is rated by Michelin as it is linked to the chef José Carlos García who has a starred resaurant nearby on Muelle Uno. In reality it is a disappointing experience. The atmosphere is trying hard to be quirky but lacks warmth. The staff are polite and pleasant enough but do not give the impression they are very engaged in relating to their customers. However the real disappointment is the food itself An attempt to modernise dishes is spoilt by the fact that in so doing their intrinsic character is destroyed as they are all too salty, taking away from any subtlety of taste and texture. For example, the ropa vieja, a hearty meaty dish with its origins in Cuba and the Caribbean is emasculated into a small dumpling type roll swimming in an insipid, saline soup.
As Michelin might have put it, not really worth the detour
Sumptuous New Year's
Our best meal in Malaga at a cost of course, because it was on New Year's Eve. If you can't get into JCG Restaurant at the port area, CDP is the next best choice. CDP is at a location not too far from the port but closer to the beach.

We booked in advance because there are only a few tables. The restaurant has been refurbished and is cozy and familiar. We went for the tasting menu at 27,5 euros and it was excellent, service was also perfect, the timing as well. Will definitely repeat.

Some of the pictures make this look like a formal place — no more. It is a small quiet eclectic place. Parties of more than six might not fit. We had the tasting menu, which was the easy choice. We were not disappointed. The tasting menu is advertised as five courses, but there was a starter so it ended up being six courses. Small portions, but in the end the right amount of food. All of it was excellent. The gazpacho in a brandy glass was fun. The desert had chocolate in a variety of ways that was some how light and a great ending to the meal. The service was great. All in all a very pleasant experience.
