Cafe Istanbul Easton Columbus Reviews from The Last Year
Very inviting atmosphere, friendly service.
Good food, the menu selection is large with kebabs served either with rice and veggies or with yogurt and tomato sauce w bread. The portions are very hefty, worth your while to come here!
Kebabs was good; very flavorful.
Would not recommend ordering mixed grill for 1 person as portion is very generous
Charm and style.
One of the more cozier places to dine in even though there are two large rooms to be seated in. It is easy to get lost in conversation without realizing the other patrons. That's the style cafe Istanbul gives you. This place holds a bit of charm that the waiters carry with them. Always eager to help and recommend any of their fine dishes. There is a separate drink menu listing a variety of cocktails and Turkish wines. A must try. I ordered the lamb and was delighted with my choice. I will warn you though, the bread your served can be a meal of it's own washed in fine oil and herbs. I am putting cafe Istanbul on a short list of favorites I will continue to return too.
First of all, the food was cold.
I ordered lahmacun but it looked like it had been sitting on the counter for minutes. Secondly, the employee who greeted and served was very rude. He was far away from courtesy while serving. Lastly, they overcharged the bill. I couldn't intervene because I realized it after I left, but the bill was $160 when it should have been $137. Be careful with bill !!!

Very delicious Turkish dinners! We trued the Sultan dish and the mixed grill platter- both were very delicious and can't wait to come back here again!
I wish I was not writing this review.
We were a party of 4, who went to this restaurant for lunch. The waiter added 18% gratuity on his own on the bill when it was clearly mentioned that 18% gratuity is added to a party of 5 or more. Well, I did not contest that because anyways I would have given that much (or more) tip. I placed a $100 bill and kept waiting for my change. When the change was not brought to me, I asked for it. Only then did the waiter brought the change and mentioned that "he assumed that the rest was the tip." The bill was for 83 dollars including the 18% gratuity. This is not over as yet - the waiter only brought back 13 dollars without the bill, hoping that I will not remember the exact amount. I was not interested in arguing nickel and dimes with the thief so I just left. Yes, the waiter made another $5 from me, but what a short-sighted fool was he. He could not foresee the kind of reputational damage he is bringing to the restaurant. Stay away! I will surely be doing so :) Food was okay though but not great.
Clean and nice atmosphere.
Service was quick. The iskender kabob was decent. The dolmas was a little less decent - the taste was a little too sweet and texture were a little too soft for me, but still not terrible.

Late post* I've only been in Columbus, OH since July but this has to be the best restaurant that we've visited. The food was unbelievable. We've only been here once but we'll definitely be back. I can taste the food while I'm typing this lol. Great food, great service and a great ambiance. Keep up the good work!
This was my first visit to the Cafe.
The food was very good, tasty and the service was very quick. The server helped explain the many dishes and helped us choose very good appetizers.
Good Service, Bland Food
I am a vegetarian (not vegan); I do eat foods made with milk and eggs. I was at Columbus Easton for a business conference and remembered eating at Cafe Istanbul several years ago. I enjoy and am familiar with Turkish and Middle Eastern foods as many are good choices for my diet. As a solo diner, I was seated quickly and treated respectfully (some restaurants dislike singles). Service was attentive and knowledgeable. I started with lentil soup and had a small appetizer plate and zucchini pancakes. The soup was overprocessed, that is, the lentils were indistinguishable, just a soupy mush. Herbs were visible, not flavorful. It was a hot bowl of texture. Bread was soft white with a pita-like crust, again flavorless. The zucchini pancakes were lightly fried and doughy with visible threads of zucchini and herbs, but little taste. The same was true for the hummus, baba ganoush and diced eggplant. The platter had a lovely presentation but no flavor. I checked my taste buds (I didn't have olfactory covid) on the Turkish tea and pinto (not fava) beans and tabouli: all three had flavor but bland. I did not have the hot vegetarian dishes like moussaka and would have had dessert had I any confidence in the kitchen; I did not. My overall impression was that I have had far better vegetarian middle eastern/Turkish food at more unassuming restaurants. The promise of Cafe Istanbul was swallowed by its location in the upscale surroundings of a glorified shopping center.

Got their food on takeout a few times this year, as well as sat down at the restaurant itself. The food is tasty, with lots of offerings to choose from. The staff is friendly and it's a chill environment for family gatherings.
What a charming and cozy spot at Easton! I love the side
What a charming and cozy spot at Easton! I love the side nooks for more intimate dining. The staff was warm and welcoming, quiet ambient music and slow dining which is a welcome rarity anymore. The food was delightful, savory and offered very generous portions. We started with the hummus which is some of the best I've ever had; it's creamy and nutty which pairs perfectly with their fluffy pita. I have the chicken shish kabob which was cooked perfectly and more than enough for 2 meals while my husband had the weekend special lamb shank. The lamb smelled incredible and was served in a beautiful savory broth. We capped the evening off with knafe. My coworker had recently brought this dish to work and I feel in live with the light, sweet, fluffy dessert so I was excited to share this experience with my husband.
It was my first time here and was excited to try everything.
There's plenty of parking around the plaza. Seating is plenty, but felt a bit cramped. The restaurant is beautiful, so warm and welcoming. We got the Moussaka and Sauteed Lamb. The dipping sauce and bread was phenomenal, it was delicious and a good starter to the meal, and you can taste the saffron and herbs. The Moussaka was made well and delicious. It was a pretty big cut and was very good. The Sauteed Lamb was made very well and flavorful. The lamb was tender and the peppers were soft and crunchy. Overall, the meal was great and filling. It came with rice and with the bread, it was overall enough for two people. I felt like the flavors were balanced and flavorful, delicious and tasty. Staff was very kind and accommodating. Staff checked on us multiple times and provided us with great service. They let us know that every meal could be made vegetarian and that's really nice for dietary needs. I would recommend this place for a great authentic meal, great service, and delicious food.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
