Caja Caliente Coral Gables Reviews from The Last Year
I discovered this restaurant after watching the owner
I discovered this restaurant after watching the owner showcase on channel 7 in the Today morning show. I read the reviews and visited their website, the pictures looked delicious however the food was not nearly as the pictures in their website. I ordered the pull port sandwich and was served the Pan Con Lechon, very dissapointing, the bun was old two tiny pieces of pork some sliced tomatoes and over filled with tiny fries from a can. Presentation too was very unpleasing. My friend had the tostones filled with shredded chicken the chicken was dry and tasteless. The tostones were hard and overcooked. Overpriced and under rated, I do not recommend this place, there are much better places to eat Cuban food believe me and less expensive. Save your money. Pictures are very deceiving.

I recently dined at Caja Caliente and was blown away by the great experience! The tostones were perfectly crispy, the tamales have to be one of the best tamales I have ever tried, and the mahi bowl was absolutely delicious. The team was very kind with their service, adding to the warmth of the atmosphere. If you're looking for a culinary adventure in miami this is the place to be! Don't miss out on this gem!!

Since I hardly venture to the Gables, it had been a long minute until I had the chance to come by. I stopped by for a late lunch / early dinner and know that I need to come by more often. Chef Mika takes a modern and creative spin on Cuban classics whether the tamal I saw on a neighboring table, or the shredded chicken bowl I enjoyed. Basically what our parents knew as a "completa" Instead of just rice and beans, you also have the option of quinoa and extra chicken. The pico de gallo and spicy dressing are the coup de grace in flavors. Looking for a sweet break from the spice? Make sure to order their fried plantain balls stuffed with picadillo (ground beef). Remember to leave space for their dessert empanadas (aka pastelitos) stuffed with guava and cheese.
I can for lunch on Friday to introduce my friend to this
I can for lunch on Friday to introduce my friend to this yummy Cuban with a twist restaurant. We got the caja caliente that comes various appetizers like empanadas (shrimp, ham), platanitos with picadillo, queso Frito with guava sauce, ham croquetas, papa rellena and more. It was a nice taste I'd all their appetizers. In my opinion the best was the plantains with picadillo and queso Frito with guava. Yummers! Now I left the best for last!! TAMAL CUBANO WITH FRIED EGG !!! I Uufffff! Just take my advice try it so you can see for yourself what delicious taste like. I have to give kudos to supervisor Chino. He was very pleasant and welcoming to my friend and. The restaurant doesn't have their own parking but there's meter parking outside. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated with Cuba artifacts.
Not great not bad.
We've never eaten inside we've always gone through take out. I recommend the empanada as it tastes amazing. Always served hot. They are priced well too!
we went to this restaurant at 2 pm Sunday afternoon.
it was almost empty. two other couples besides us. we had been there a year ago and we're not too impressed. this time it was really disappointing. my husband had a kale salad with churrasco meat. the meat was very low quality. I had a tamal en cazuela. a small bowl full of pork. that's all it was. for appetizers we ordered mariquitas which we're from a bag. a Cuban restaurant should at least make its own !!!! the croquettes were good. the coffee too. I enjoy Mika's recipes on instagram but I think she's neglecting to pay attention to her restaurant! we will not return too bad. we need Cuban restaurants in Miami.
Loved this place! Excellent Cuban food with a twist.
Awesome service by the waiters and even the owner. We were a big group and we really enjoyed the occasion there. Can't wait to come back! Un lugar con mucho sabor cubano pero con el toque moderno de Miami. Please, don't change anything!!!
1st time customers and it was excellent service from start
1st time customers and it was excellent service from start to finish. We had the tamal with lechon on top, kale caesar salad (the Cuban bread croutons were insanely delicious) with a generous portion of chicken on top, my girls had congri with churrasco, and my husband had the vaca frita burrito. We shared the house sampler, every bite was enjoyed. However, the trifecta was the cortadito with leche evaporada, the churros with leche condensada, and the mamey ice cream. Way to bring me back to the 1980's with that delicious assortment of desserts. Happy customers!
Ordered a burrito, guac and chips and fries.
... Took over 30 mins for my to go order and they forgot the fries.....noticed after I drove away and checked the bag. For $40 I should of went elsewhere.
I kept driving by this spot and finally one day I decided
I kept driving by this spot and finally one day I decided to stop by for dinner on a casual Friday night with a friend. It's like an upscale version of the Cuban sandwich shop. The decor and music is so tropical Latin Miami in a low-key vibe. We each got a guava spritz which was refreshing and we started with the Croquetas De Spicy Goat which were delicious. I got the pan con vaca frita as my main and I really enjoyed it. Service was helpful as well and everyone was really nice. I have no complaints and had a great time.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
