Campland on the Bay San Diego Reviews from The Last Year
Was scared of the reviews, but our stay was excellent!
A friend recommended we stay here, so we made reservations for 3 nights, April 9-11, a Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. After checking in, I looked at reviews on TripAdvisor and was thoroughly scared. I thought, oh no, this is going to be bad. But our stay was wonderful, with no issues. Tuesday And wed nights were quiet and Peaceful. Thursday night, was a tiny bit more noisy, we could hear a few people talking loudly a couple times, but it was nothing that lasted or was disruptful. We were in the Limited area, space C13, backed up to grass and trees, with only water and electric hookups. Many spaces around us were not being used, so we had lots of room. I understand this is the off season though. We found the bathrooms to be very very clean and well taken care of. 2 out of the 3 nights we enjoyed the hot tub and pool, which were also extremely clean feeling, and well maintained. On Thurs Evening and Friday morning was the only time we saw kids riding bikes around the property. Many of the kids had adults with them. Some older ones (maybe 14-16 yrs) were by themselves, but they were not being unruly, they were having fun, riding wheelies, being kids. So if you want an adults only park, this is not the place for you. We love kids, and were glad to see them having fun. One evening, 2 sisters, maybe 11 and 7, joined us in the hot tub, and they were very sweet and respectful. We drove around and looked at some of the other camping areas. Closer to the beach was more of a parking lot area. I don't know how much those spaces were or what kind of hookups they offer, but I don't think I would have enjoyed being over there as much. But the advantage, I think, would be for families to have easier access to the beach and not have to walk or drive over there. We didn't eat at the cantina, but our neighbor (who lives there 4 mo out of the year) led us it's very good. We got a pina colada that was excellent. The neighbor also told us that 2 weeks ago, it was packed and loud in the park. I believe it was spring break. Much seems to depend on when you go. But during the week, in the off season, we had a great stay.
Complete Chaos
Not family friendly Not relaxing Complete $hit show Underage drinking and driving Public intoxication Probably the most detailed review you will get and the most insightful. Let’s start with our background. We are RV campers. We have traveled all over the U.S. and live in San Diego. This is not the first visit we have had to Campland but certainly the last. Reservations: We made reservations for our spot a last Labor Day weekend for this year. We picked our spot mainly because of availability. We ended up in one of the worst/best spots available depending on how you look at it. The best because we got great neighbors. The worst because there is literally no space and we happened to be right on the main entrance driveway so we had like a million people passing all day. That usually wouldn’t be a problem since we like to people watch but the problem was exactly the type of people this camp pulls in now. Trashy to say the least. A few years ago it was a very family friendly place with plenty of kids activities. Now it caters to drunks, pot smokers, underage drinking and driving and seriously bottom of the barrel crowd. Rentals: This place offers RV rentals. You know the kind that set up everything for you and you go spend a weekend and then leave. That attracts people who regularly could not afford to be campers, unfortunately a lot of those people are rude, disrespectful, binge drinkers who think it’s cool to let their kids ride all day on their bikes without helmets and with no regard to cars, property or even people crossing the street. We almost ran over 3 kids on our first day. We were sober and going way slower than the speed limit. Underage drinking and driving: This is something you will read a lot about on here. I think it is a real security concern but I saw plenty of 14-15 year olds drunk to the point of vomiting and driving rental golf carts while blasting music full of profanity. I don’t scare easily but I am being detailed so you get the full picture of our stay. The camp sites: 1 word - horrible! Besides the fact that Campland has the beautiful views of San Diego Mission Bay that is the only thing they have going! They allow multiple vehicles to be parked at each campsite. If you walked around, Campland looks like a junkyard. More cars than anything else. No room for much on our site, that’s for sure. We did notice some sites had a little more room but still not worth the hassle. Security: definitely worthless. We had security escort us to find a parking spot for our guest parking which was just my other vehicle. The following day we passed by to see it being hit by another car that had shimmied in between my car and another car. They decided just to leave it parked that way. When we called security, they said they went to the persons campsite and that they said that the car belonged to no one from that site, even though every vehicle that goes into Campland has to be checked in. They just chose to do nothing about it. We had to call the SDPD to come write a report for us. Afterwards, the security was told by SDPD to give us a parking spot on an empty site because of the hassle, the security refused. Thankfully the SDPD pressured them to give us a parking spot. The following night our RV window was broken by teens lighting of fireworks next to our campsite, we didn’t even bother to report it as by the way they handled the parking situation, nothing was going to be done. Quiet Hours: It’s a joke. No one respects quiet hours. I am usually all for longer hours on the weekends. I was happy to see 11pm was quiet time however when at 2am you are hearing teens driving around drunk, blasting music, and zipping by the campsites super fast, it gets annoying fast. Public Intoxication: Trashy people left and right. We had to report a man passed out in the bushes that some teens were recording and were asking if he was alive. He had to be picked up off the bushes by a few security guards. Dog Poop: We have two dogs that stayed with us. We love dogs. We hate people who leave their dog poop all over the place. We actually called someone out on it and they just kept walking. 0 stars if your a real camper.
Regret
I don’t know where to start. If you haven’t been here recently I would spend time reading all the bad reviews because they are incredibly accurate. This place is where you drop off horny teenagers, to drink underage, and ride their e-bikes without helmets at full speed. We’re talking hundreds of teenagers running in packs of 10-20. This place is out of control. The rangers and staff don’t care. They only care when they can capitalize on the issue. Like charging $25 per day to bring your own golf cart! Be prepared to get hit by at least one golf cart or e-bike. This place is also overrun by tent campers, like 15 people deep in one tent site. We had trash from the tent sites blowing into our camp site. If I could summarize the crowd this draws it be would if Pismo beach and Glamis had a baby it would be called Campland Rv, except you are squeezed together in tiny spots and it costs $250 per night. Save your money and run. You won’t get a spot at the beach. They let campers leave their popup canopy’s over night because they can’t capitalize on it. So good luck squeezing in. Regret, is how I would summarize my overall experience. Regret that I spent so much to stay here. It ruined our family vacation. I’d ask for my money back if I knew I had a chance to recoup it.
Worst experience not a family environment please avoid
Worst trip ever was there only one day planned on enjoying three nights. Had trailer dropped off on Friday morning check in. My senior mom and her grandson stayed there until we arrived late Sunday night and slept. Spoke to a security guard that night when we arrived on a golf cart the other space next to us had all their tables, pop up, table awnings up over our spot because the trailer was not parked correctly when dropped off but I told him no big deal it was late we would move over correctly tomorrow. Went to the public restroom two young girls using Cocaine in the men’s restroom and washing their feet under the sink. Returned later before going to bed to use the restroom again and the two girls were in a shower stall with two other boys taking shots and recorded them on sink and in shower stall talking about using cocaine and friends they looked like they were locals and saw them later walking in and out of the exit. With nothing being said by security. Next morning saw the two girls walking around in same dirty clothes. It was disgusting. Sweat pants filthy etc. I was approached by our neighbor who said they received a notice to move belongings I told them it was not a big deal we were moving sites next to friends since an opportunity opened up next to them. The only reason why the open spot to move to was because the family that was there was feed up with the environment. We also left early too because Ranger Dave and security have no control over this place it’s a free for all with young teenagers riding golf carts ect…. believe me it’s not a family environment save your money. I have been going there for years and finally to return after years it’s changed. Not a family environment. And I’m not the only one who thinks this way other people within the sites said the same thing who we didn’t know but gave me there information and will also probably post.
Worst camping experience ever…
First of all, we paid 200$, for an awful noisy parking space! It was a Premium site, they said…. We went during the Father’s Day weekend. I knew it was very pricey, but a campground located in San Diego, on the beach, I thought let’s take it! What a mistake! The pics on the internet site don’t show that this campground is in fact a huge PARKING LOT! No grass, but a black paved lot with white lines not much larger than in a Walmart lot. Just a little space for an awning open and a picnic table underneath. The premium site was the same, with a tiny little grass spot, full of weeds, on the canal side. But our van was in a parking space… San Diego was a nice 4 day stop for our 2 month road trip adventure. Unfortunately, every time we got back from some sightseeing tour in the city, we got so tense in the campground. The noise is awful, the music so loud at night, even after the quiet hours. The bands invited or the DJs stop at around 9 pm, but the campers play loud music on their sites, or bicycle riders SHARE their music with you, carrying beatbox players, lights and so many people aboard…It’s like a freak show. It’s not even secure to walk, there are so many bikes with kids and teenagers at night. The e-bikes even go as fast as 20 km, and the riders aren’t careful at all. And the security does nothing about it. A place to avoid. Never experienced something like this before.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
