Dining at Cana was amazing! The staff, chefs and overall ambiance was great. Perfect for a date night or girls night. The food was so fresh and fun to watch it being made at the chefs counter!
If you are a caipirinha lover then this place is a must-try
If you are a caipirinha lover then this place is a must-try in DC. I've tried their traditional and their lychee variation, and I heavily prefer the lychee one. It just adds such a sweet fruitiness to the typical tartness of a caipirinha. I can't really speak for anything else since I've only ever stopped by after 11:30, which is when it turns into a traditional bar but I adore the vibes. There's several tables along the sides, a DJ mixing vinyls, and some fun mood lighting.
"We make the country's best caipirinhas," said the server
"We make the country's best caipirinhas," said the server proudly. With that confidence, we had to try a few. Over an hour, I ordered the Maracuja with passion fruit and the Caju Amigo, which was described to me as the lovechild of an apple and pear. (It's an accurate description.) Each was unique and refreshing, but the Maracuja was the winner. It comes with passion fruit seeds to add a crunch. The space is beautiful with a few tables along the sidewalk and inside at the bar and at tables. Restrooms are in the back. Service is friendly and efficient. If you love caipirinhas, go here, but make a reservation to ensure you get a table.
Somehow someway, my friend and I scored a seat at this
Somehow someway, my friend and I scored a seat at this extremely popular Brazilian steakhouse an hour before the kitchen closed. Divine timing truly! Get a reservation here before you go (especially if on a Friday night!) The steak was absolutely incredible. Low in fat but it was perfectly juicy. I think it was the Fraldinha and the farofa added a salty, crunchy texture. The sourdough bread was tasty and very charred but paired well with the herb butter. I couldn't taste much duck in the Coxinha de pato but was a tasty appetizer. The side salad was really refreshing and simple but paired so well with the rest of the meal. My friend enjoyed Cana's take on an Old Fashion and I tried Cahaça in their self tiled drink. My goodness, it was made with three simple ingredients and it was strong, refreshing and smooth. It tasted like margarita's older sister, more mature and classy! Our waiter was from Brazil and he was a GEM! I absolutely loved how he was patient and helpful during our selections (and getting us a table!). The ambiance is great for date night. The atmosphere was very grown and intimate but I saw people celebrating birthdays, casually chatting and enjoying the food and drinks. Definitely worth a visit.
One of the best places to eat Brazilian food.
I appreciated the customer care the waitress had.
We have eaten here twice now and we are just mad we didn't
We have eaten here twice now and we are just mad we didn't come sooner! Everything we have tried has been so delicious. The drinks are AMAZING. The staff so welcoming and friendly. Happy to walk you through everything on the menu to make sure you get what you like. Jonathan is the best waiter made perfect recommendations and checked on us often. We have only been for brunch so far but will definitely be back for dinner soon. It has this fun 70s retro vibe to the place. It's all very well done I would encourage anyone to go there.
As a caipirinha lover I was so excited to try Cana and it
As a caipirinha lover I was so excited to try Cana and it did not disappoint! Came for a 10pm reservation on a Friday night -- DEFINITELY make a reservation. This place turns more into a traditional bar around 11:30 but when the kitchen is open its not a standing room kind of place and hard to walk into without a reservation (I've tried without success!). We were seated at the bar after a short wait and were greeted shortly after by our server who was AWESOME! She was so friendly and kind and also really knowledgeable and shared more about cachaça and the popularity of caipirinhas in Brazil. She was also nice enough to let us taste some cachaça on its own to get a better sense of the spirit. The drinks here are freaking phenomenal, especially if youre a cachaça/caipirinha lover. The standard 'cana' drink was incredible but the lychee variation really blew us away. This bar is also FUN! The vibes were right: great Brazilian music and energy with an open kitchen so you can see and smell all the delicious plates. I had an amazing time and would love to come back for dinner. This is the absolute perfect date night spot and great for a girls night too. It is LOUD and I wouldnt recommend a big group as its a fairly small bar/restaurant with mostly bar seating. Definitely the kind of place where you need to shout, especially later in the night with the DJ there. If you come earlier in the night I imagine its a little quieter but if youre looking for a litty/vibey/trending dinner and/or drinks spot, Cana is your place!! Absolutely cannot wait to come back.
Trendy bar/restaurant featuring Brazilian-inspired dishes
Trendy bar/restaurant featuring Brazilian-inspired dishes with a modern twist. Service was excellent. The food was very pricey for the small, tapa-like portions--even the main dishes (called pratos) were small. Worth coming back for: caipirinha drink, Black Angus beef and the authentic Brazilian flan. Would not order again: Toasted (charred) garlic bread and the heart of palm salad (cucumber/onion salad).
I was immediately charmed by the entrance to Cana of all
I was immediately charmed by the entrance to Cana of all things, the cute doorway framed by luscious green and blooming plants creates an inviting invitation that is hard to ignore. I personally am a sucker for charred octopus dishes, so as soon as I saw this on the menu I knew I was in for a treat. The associated pirão sauce was a perfect accompaniment, and was scraped clean off the plate like most everything else we got for dinner. My other favorite of the night was probably the vinaigrette de palmito, with high acidity and excellently balanced vegetables included each bite was a delight. Our server was wonderful, she checked in on us regularly and gave great recommendations for drinks and snacks alike. It is very loud inside, even on a weeknight the smaller space was crowded end to end so bring ear protection if you prefer and get ready for an experience.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Cana Washington at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Cana Washington page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FluffyStar64, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FluffyStar64 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FluffyStar64 for any questions Peter may have as FluffyStar64 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FluffyStar64 now uses their connections at Cana Washington to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FluffyStar64 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FluffyStar64 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FluffyStar64's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Cana Washington!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
