This hidden place doesn't look like much from the outside - you have to ring the bell to be let inside!Had a reservation here for 8pm, which is the earliest they open for dinner service. For a Friday night, it was not very crowded but would not have ever walked by this place had it not been planned. This place focuses on their risottos, so much so that at the end of your meal they give you a small booklet of their risotto recipes as a gift! Each risotto takes 25 minutes to make and requires you to order a minimum of two portions per risotto (bring a friend!). The appetizer was top notch - it was all vegetarian and had great flavors and textures. The star of the show however was the risotto. I could smell the red wine in the risotto (as well as see it), and it made the flavor of the dish so rich. The sausage was a great addition to the dish as well. Ended the night with some espresso; I'm not an expert on this but it tasted solid to me. Service was great as well; it was a very intimate experience since there were only three tables being served total while I was there, and they closed up the restaurant after I left. The amount of tables served definitely is not indicative of how good the food is! If you're looking for a wide selection of great risotto, this is a great place to go!

Very good! Quaint. If you're looking for other menu options, this is not the place.
Be the first to ReplyA delightful little restaurant specializing in risotto.
I have been coming here for many years. The food is prepared to order so grab an appetizer and relax as your risotto is being made. Every time I come here I find a new favorite. Try the Ossobucco! Located in a residential neighborhood a quick cab ride from Centrale Station, the restaurant is small and calling for reservations for either of their two evening services (7:45, 9:45) is highly recommended (don't worry, they speak English...). Tips: (1) if you arrive early for the 7:45 seating, just ring the bell to the left of door and they will open up for you (2) don't trust the transit maps - the public transit shown actually runs on an overpass and it is a tricky walk to get to the restaurant and (3) when you are finished and contentedly full they will be happy to call you a cab....

We had a long layover in Milan, and decided to check out what Milan was best known for: Risotto. This place was a few blocks from our hotel, so we decided to check it out.We went on what was clearly a packed night, and there should've been no way we would get a table. The staff however told us that if we were willing to wait outside for half an hour or so, they should be able to squeeze us in. The area is nice, so we took a short walk and came back, where we were promptly thanked for your waiting and given a table. The first thing the waiters will tell you is that if you would like to order risotto, there's uusally a 25 minute wait time, as they make it fresh to order. The second thing they'll tell you is that you should really try the risotto. So we did.We ordered the risotto Milanese with ossobucco, and the cassouella to nibble on while we waited for the risotto.Cassouella is a typical northern Italian cabbage stew that's usually eaten in wintertime. This one included sausage and veal as well, both of which were extremely tender. I'd tried this dish before, but something about the way this restaurant made it, made the flavors just blend so well together. The Risotto and Ossobucco were phenomenal. The risotto itself was just so much more flavorful than you'd expect a risotto to be, but combined with the juices from the Ossobucco it was on a completely different level. The Ossobucco itself was perfect. It wasn't too tender, and had just enough of a chew to it to counteract the soft texture of the risotto. To top everything off, the owner came by at the end of our meal, and handed us a small 5 page recipe pamphlet. He said that he gives them away in case anyone wants to try making his risotto at home. What a wonderful experience
Be the first to ReplySooooo good.
The prices were reasonable. The service, excellent. We had Ossobucco, Risotto Milanese, Risotto with Porcini Mushrooms and Zucchini flowers. All were flavorful and delicious. We have discovered this gem and I'm so happy that we decided to walk around this neighborhood.

We came by this place on a recommendation from a local friend of ours as I wanted to try the best risotto in town. I know, how boring. He instantly came back with this place and the next night we came in for some food.We ended up getting risotto Milanese and an appetizer. The appetizer might be the best single item I've had while in Milan. It was perfectly cooked eggplant with this parmesan crust on top (very similar to apple crumble) which gave it this crunchy texture with a burst of cheese flavour. It was also surrounded with this fantastic tomato and basil sauce. I'm tempted to go back and order a few of these just for dinner. They brought us a spoon of some risotto topped with wine to cleanse our pallet and the main was coming out. The risotto was cooked in saffron with some grated Romano cheese on top. It was some of the best risotto I've had! It also came out with a side of bone marrow in some fantastic jus. This tasted great with the risotto and the marrow was extremely creamy! This wasn't the best Italian restaurant I ate at on my trip but I can't imagine better eggplant and the risotto was really good, even though risotto is kind of a boring meal.I wanted to try some Milanese dishes and this was a great start. This restaurant definitely earned their Michelin rating.
