A must for caviar lovers.
... It's a luxurious experience with top-to-top feel and a menu to boot. We are upstairs for a small and cozy dining experience...but you can also sit at the bar or go to the lounge in the back-all on the first floor.

If you're into caviar, Caviar Russe can be a preferred experience. We sat at the bar & lounge area, as we weren't going for the tasting menus. We went for the Authority Tasting, in which comes with a selection of caviar by the spoon; you can add belgua and/or the almas osetra with an additional cost. We also ordered some bites: +Milk Bread with caviar butter +King Crab - tempura, cucumber, and salmon roe +Caviar Baked Potatoes - marbl potatoes with chives and pomme puree +Caviar Dumplings - with burrata, ricotta, and chives +Bao Buns - with softshell crab and pickled cucumber +Lobster Rolls - with crustacean butter +Toro & Foie Cornet +Caviar cornet - wit classic osetra, creme fraice, and chives Definitely a pricey meal, but everything was well-presented and tasted good - service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a sophisticated vibe to it with a modern flair - I really liked the crown molding! Good for get-togethers or dates. +all about the caviar! +friendly service

We have been to many Michelin starred restaurants in the US, France and Germany and for some reason, the only one I always say I want to go to is Caviar Russe. Amazing experience, the lights, the view, the atmosphere and of course the food. Very different from all the other restaurants, very unique, would absolutely go again

Do you love caviar? Do you not care about spending thousands of dollars on dinner? If so, this is the place for you. We came here back in April for the grand tasting menu and at almost $1000 per person before tax tip or alcohol (other than a glass of Dom to start), it is one of the most expensive meals in the city. Everything we had was delicious, starting from the caviar by the spoon in the lounge downstairs and the bites to the meal in the dining room, we enjoyed it all. Other than the foie gras everything else was fish or vegetables so if you prefer meats, then you may want to monitor their menu - I believe it changes.

Hip yet romantic setting for one of the most over-the-top splurge meals you can find in the Manhattan. Vodka flights were extraordinary. This is a place where, if you are so inclined, you will learn whether there is a such thing as too much caviar. A+ service, setting, menu variety.

We ate in the bar not upstairs on the restaurant. The mini hand roll papers were hand made- absolutely delicious when you crunch into it. We had a scoop of the caviar ostera on an ivory spoon and served on bone china. We also tried the CAVIAR BAKED POTATOES Marble Potatoes, Chives, Pomme Purée, SMOKED SALMON withBlinis, Crème Fraîche. The waitstaff was very informative and nice. Total was about 159 per person. I will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyExquisite food and service costs a pretty penny.
Still, there is a way to spend less than $200 a person. Sit in the lounge and get the smoked salmon plate with blini, which is really filling. Get some cornets and don't forget a spoonful of caviar.

I make it a point to go there whenever I travel to the Big Apple

I love caviar so I wanted to stop here while in NYC. It was fun to directly compare different types and see which I liked best. We started off with the classic caviar service which included 25g each of classic osetra, siberian sturgeon, and pacific sturgeon. My favorite was the osetra. We also got some other items from the menu such as the rock crab cornets, caviar baked potatoes, bluefin tuna bao buns, and "the golden egg". The caviar baked potatoes were insanely good and I could not get enough of the spicy bluefin tuna bao buns, they were the best bao buns that i've ever had! I really enjoyed each item that I had here, even though we ate in the lounge and didn't get a tasting menu the service was great and the food was all Michelin quality. They even gave me some madelines since we were in NY celebrating my birthday!

We came here for the caviar ofc and it was delicious! But also quite filling esp with all the spreads I.e. blinis and crepes so we didn't have much room for entrees and got apps instead. I was a bit thrown off by service, they didn't offer us a dessert menu nor did they seem enthusiastic to give me recommendations for entrees when I asked for a stunning dish.
Be the first to ReplyThe foods are amazing .
I had a wonderful experience with the exquisite flavor of the caviar and the variety choices to pick. Will definitely revisit again everyone is friendly and attentive. The design of the the restaurant goes well the food ~~every little details of the utensils brings ocean vibe on the table ~~

I had a really nice evening here with my girlfriend and the food was super yummy, especially the caviar. It's not a huge amount of food for what you pay for but the quality is top-tier and so is the service. I really love this place.

Lunch at Caviar Russe was divine! We sat in the main dining room. We ordered the Sevruga caviar, sea urchin, blue fin toro tartare and foie gras. Everything was beyond delicious, especially the foie gras. In fact, the foie gras here was the BEST we've ever had and we order it every chance we get. The tuile on top was the perfect crunch for all underneath. We loved how the martini came with assorted olives... what a brilliant idea, a personal olive bar. The martini was very well crafted. Also enjoyed the different bases for the caviar- potato rounds, toast and crepes. The bread course came with three different flavored butters: goat cheese and lavender, caviar, and rosemary chestnut. Service was impeccable (thank you, Armando) and the ambiance was classy and beautiful. We can't wait to return!

Caviar was recommended by an amazing friend with exquisite taste, every course exceeded the last. We started with caviar service and moved on to the tuna tartare, the egg and caviar, and the Dover sole and caviar. Each taste had its own flavor profile, balanced, elegant, and flavorful. the ambience was exquisite, amazing chandeliers and wall frescoes, and incredible service. This is an intimate and curated spot for any fine dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyI really like this place and have experience incredibly
I really like this place and have experience incredibly warm and hospitable service here. Caveat - I've only sat in the bar lounge but it can be a casual relaxed experience on a Sunday afternoon or it can take on more of a vibe at night complete with DJ. The caviar here is fantastic with all the accoutrements-love the potato slices and the warm blinis. Oysters and sashimi is also on point. The also have incredible pastries too. Note that this place is pricey so expect to hit the bank a little hard.
Be the first to ReplyTop notch service & ambiance is truly luxurious.
Most of all, their caviar is superb & sustainably farmed in Germany.

I concur with other reviewers that for those who love caviar, Caviar Russe is a must have experience. This visit was our second to Caviar Russe and we ambitiously elected to try the Caviar Russe Experience pre-theatre. We initially had made a reservation for their 5 PM opening time to ensure that we would make our show. However, when I learned that the Experience tasting menu started downstairs in the bar, I telephoned the restaurant, and they moved us up to 430 PM. The bar experience started with a glass each of 2012 Dom Perignon and a traditional caviar tasting of five different caviars: gold and classic Osetra, Sevruga, and Siberian and Pacific sturgeon. It was accompanied by potato slices, latkes, blinis, toast points and pancakes as well as creme fraiche and chives, The plate looked slightly messy, as all of the spoons were overflowing with caviar (so, we're not going to complain!). My wife learned that Sevruga is not quite to her taste. Otherwise, it was a fabulous way to start, To follow in the bar were four fabulous bites: a perfect raw Pacific oyster with a nice dollop of Osetra caviar on top; a little ice cream cone filled with bluefin toro tartare and caviar; a caviar, creme fraiche and chive macaron; and finally pan seared foie gras and Osetra caviar on top of crispy rice. All four of these bites were mind-blowing and I will probably fondly recall the last three of them for the rest of my life. Once we were finished with our champagne, we opted for a bottle of 2019 grand cru Chablis, which we sipped on for the remainder of the evening. It was like drinking angels' tears. The bar atmosphere was lively, but it was still easy to talk. The service was doting and friendly and it was fun to watch the chef assemble the different courses right in front of us (a la sushi bar).We then moved upstairs to their beautiful little front dining room and had a nice table overlooking Madison Avenue. Despite the huge window, the room is largely devoid of traffic noise. The courses upstairs were also wonderful. Bread service was a small baguette and a wheat bread served with three butters : caviar, goat cheese and rosemary. There was not as much caviar flavor as we would have expected in the caviar butter. The goat cheese butter was particularly delicious. We started with two non-caviar containing dishes of sashimi grade hamachi with honeynut squash three ways followed by braised celery root covered in thin truffle slices. Both were beautiful and absolutely delicious. We were then served a soft scrambled Jidor egg with a dollop of Osetra. This is simply the best scrambled egg that I have ever had (I will now devote the remainder of my life into trying to recreate it!!). We then had a lovely tagliatelle pasta with sea urchin, horseradish and Osetra, which I thought delicious, but was not to my wife's taste. Following that was a small perfectly cooked piece of 45-day dry aged ribeye again with black truffle and a killer Bordelaise sauce. Dessert was a cannelle topped with Osetra sitting on top of a creme Anglaise, also delicious. Following that were chocolates, warm madeleines and perfect cranberry gelees (all yummy!). The service upstairs was also excellent. They paced the meal perfectly and we were on our way to the theatre in plenty of time for curtain. This experience is very expensive. But, you only live once!! If you can afford it and you love caviar, go for it! You won't be disappointed.

The bar downstairs is a great addition to the restaurant and evokes modern classic bar . I absolutely love the ambiance from plush seats to the lighting to the food . We sat at the bar and enjoyed the small bites with champagne and martini. the bar man was friendly but a bit opinionated . Nevertheless I would go back next time to do the multi course menu offering at the restaurant. Can't wait to have more delicious caviar !

For caviar affecionados, this is a must go. You need to realize that whatever item you order at this restaurant, caviar will be a part of it no matter what. Typical UES upscale eatery vibe, a little more on the old school side in terms of decor. Depite the fact that it faces busy avenue, it's very quiet inside. Service, food, there's nothing bad to say about. I wish they sell more on the retail but I guess restaurant is their main focus, which is understandable.Good portion, justifiable price, we would come back again

We ate at the bar for lunch, and it did not seem like reservations were a must.Very nice bar area, great service, great bar drinks, and a killer caviar menu. Caviar was very fresh tasting, as was the lobster, shrimp, and hamachi. Cone of foie gras and toro was delicious but way too small. Would definitely recommend.

Gorgeous space and very elegant!Stopped in and had a glass of bubbles. Decent list by the glass and very well thought out wine list.I had hoped to get some retail but they have very limited selection in store.Service was great and I had a delicious snack (picture) - bluefin tuna cones topped with caviar and exceptionally crispy noir.
