We ordered two pizzas and some chips to take out and it was delicious. Really authentic and tasty- will definitely be back!

We visited on a Saturday evening. On arrival there were quite number of cars on the car park which always looks promising but on entering the restaurant only about half a dozen tables were occupied. We were shown to our table and given menus. The waiter returned and took our drink and food order. They had no cannelloni (a quiet Italian restaurant that has run out of cannelloni). Our drinks arrived and the wine was pleasant. The garlic bread with tomato was under cooked arrived with our starters of stuffed mushrooms. These weren’t cooked in olive oil more like sunflower oil and were greasy and tasteless. The waitress (a very young girl with obviously no training) cleared the starters from the table and never asked how the food was. The mains arrived after less than a 5 minutes and we had to call the waitress back as we hadn’t been given any cutlery. We weren’t offered any black pepper or parmesan and were given the smallest dish of veg to share. On a positive note the mains were excellent. The meat was perfectly cooked and the sauce was very tasty. Again when the table was cleared we were not asked how our food was. All in all we were in fed and out in an hour. We like to go out and take our time and enjoy the experience. Make an evening of it. We felt rushed and will definitely not be returning.

Really enjoyed everything, traditional Italian and will definitely go again soon, service excellent plenty of parking which us always a bonus - we had a mix of pizza, lasagne, pasta dishes etc all excellent … just thought the lobster ravioli was overpriced at £15.95 for the portion size (small / medium)

We didn’t know about this place until we happened to drive past it last week. Decent sized car park Nice seating waiting area Traditional Italian interior with candles in the evening Very friendly staff and good choice of menu The garlic bread with tomato was lovely and the spaghetti pomodoro was spot on, generous portion as was the spag bolognese. Eton mess was nice Lemon Cheesecake wasn’t a cheesecake , more a sponge But nice £7.25 was a bit steep for dessert Would definitely return

Love Checco's, so traditional & authentic, owners & staff are friendly & attentive. Food never disappoints. Just love the atmosphere, everything is just as you would want & expect. Not many places that deliver on all areas. We will be regulars for sure.x

From arriving to leaving on this chilly October evening with Mum who feels the cold this place was warm and welcoming
Cups of tea were warming and refreshing and the lady on service was respectful, knowledgeable and polite
Garlic Bread with Rosemary was a lovely starter for us ( mum loved it too ) but the stars of the show were 2 portions of meat cannelloni. The best I’ve tasted in years. I just wish I’d photographed them. Hot and filled with tender seasoned beautiful meat filling and accompanied sauce, cheese and herbs. A right affordable treat
Finishing of with lovely scoops of flavoursome ice cream. What more can I say apart from I’ll be back 👍👍
A meal with a view!!!
Friendly service, buzzing on a Monday night. Great choice on the menu really enjoyed our meals. I had garlic prawns then pizza, hubby had chicken livers and I had a taste they were really good, then he had chicken his plate was cleaned! Thank you!

Well catered for a party of 12. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Catered for our gluten free member superbly . Food was exceptionally good. All contributed to a fantastic night. Can’t thank them enough thoroughly recommend. Definitely worth visiting. Pasta dishes and pizzas were very enticing my fillet steak was superb.
Thanks for a wonderful night.
Trip down memory lane
We were in the area and decided on Checco's for my birthday meal. The place hasn't changed and we were grateful for that. Good retro menu and well cooked food. The Barolo bottle was opened when we arrived at our table. Would recommend that you ask for the bottle to be opened in front of you. Thank you for an enjoyable meal.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced Mean child size portions !
We have loved this place over the years but not been for around 4 years. I had garlic stuffed mushrooms to start and was so disappointed to get 5 mushrooms. The portion size is so mean. We then had lasagne which was lovely tasting but again was like a child’s portion. Desert was the same gone in 2 mouthfuls. It cost over £70 and we left and ordered a pizza. We were so hungry. Unfortunately we were trying it again planning on having a 50th party there later this year but it was overpriced and very mean portion sizes. We won’t be going back again. I’ve never been for a meal and felt so hungry before !!!

My husband and I and friends ended up getting a table at short notice at this lovely Italian on Saturday evening. They made us feel very welcome. We were let down by the hotel we were staying in and luckily for us found this little gem. Full of atmosphere everyone was enjoying the food. All the staff made us feel very welcome and made our evening out feel very special. If we are ever in the area again we would be sure to book again for another meal. Thanks again for a super evening.
Be the first to ReplyNot what we expected
We went during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme thinking we’d get a really good value meal as we went before lockdown and got a 3 course meal for £50. While the food is amazing, we only got a main each and 2 sides for the same price (£30 after the discount) so I’m sure there was some inflation there which just didn’t sit right with us.

I’ve been coming to Checco’s since I was a child (over 20 years) and recently visited again during the governments scheme on a Tuesday night.
The service was fast, the staff were attentive and the food was as good as ever! The atmosphere was bustling with many happy customers. We had a three course meal and I could go back and eat it again every night!
Looking forward to our next visit.
Social Distancing Not Followed
This is a difficult review to write due there being some good points, but also some seriously bad ones. The main issue was that social distancing was not being applied throughout the restaurant and our table was less than 2 feet from two others. This was worrying. In other parts of the restaurant there was better spacing. Had our table been removed then there would have been compliance for the others.
The staff were friendly enough and the speed of service was acceptable. Most of the food was of good quality however it was extremely expensive. Thankfully the government scheme was available. I found the Pollo A'la Crema very good however the Prawn Cocktail (see photo) was unbelievably disappointing, with just a scattering of prawns on some shredded lettuce and a slice of lemon. No tomatoes or paprika and no bread to accompany it. The charge for this was very high. With my main course I asked for chips as part of the vegetable accompaniment and was amazed that there was a high charge applied for these rather than substituting the standard potatoes as requested.
The venue was pleasant however the things that were weak did spoil the visit
