CheLi New York Reviews from The Last Year
This is some authentic Chinese food for sure.
As someone who misses home a lot, I haven't had such well-made red braised pork was in a long while. The restaurant was a bit crowded, but their friendly servicer definitely makes up for it.
Pretty good place for Shanghainese dishes.
Quick and attentive service. I really like smoked fish and basically all the dishes are very good.

Very good Chinese restaurant, the price is reasonable, the amount of food is relatively sufficient, the environment is very beautiful, suitable for family gatherings, especially my love of fresh meat dumplings, every time must order

They serve traditional Chinese food and while the dishes are well-prepared, it is on the pricier side given the smaller portions. Out of all the dishes, I would recommend their crispy smoked fish and the red braised pork. The dish I wouldn't recommend is the Shanghai stir fried noodles The staff are efficient and dishes come out quite fast. The layout of the restaurant is also really nice with a dark interior reminiscent of a night market.

With sister restaurant Szechuan Mountain House being one of my favorites in Manhattan, Cheli had a high bar to meet! Roasted Pork Belly (5/10): Like many other reviews noted, this pork was quite dry. I wanted to try for myself, but ultimately I wouldn't order this again. Flavor was fine but the pork was indeed dry. The quail eggs were a nice, delicious touch though! Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao (7/10): This was a really lovely, delicate bite! Chinese Crispy Lava Buns (9/10): I loved this - big fan of the slightly salty touch which balanced the sweetness well. There was also a mochi-like texture, which I love! Song Dynasty Steam Bun (10/10): This was frankly my favorite dish even though objectively it was a simple dish - a lightly sweetened, fluffy steamed bun. I couldn't stop thinking about how my mother would LOVE this! Fried Pumpkin Cubes (8/10): This was powdery (in a melt in your mouth way), salty, sweet, and crispy. I really liked it. I'm excited to come back and try more dishes! I think our selection was solid, but I do want to try some more of the protein dishes since the pork belly was a slight miss.

The Shanghai cuisine served here is authentic, with the Hunan style stir-fried sliced beef being particularly flavorful. The house special fish stew is also quite good. The service and ambiance are also commendable.

Just had a great meal at here, and I've got to mention their Steamed Yellow Croaker and Sweet Osmanthus Rice Cake! The croaker was cooked perfectly, with really fresh flavors. And that rice cake was sweet, fragrant, and just delicious. Portions were good, atmosphere cozy, and service was on point. Only thing to note was the wait for a table was a tad longer than expected. But if you're in for a treat, definitely give these dishes a try!
We came here very spontaneously on a Wednesday night.
Luckily, we did not have to wait to be seated, but there were a lot of people at 6:30pm. If we had come later, we would have had to wait. The food here is delicious and has a nice range of different, unique flavors. None of the dishes were too salty or too bland--very nicely seasoned and balanced. Not pictured are the Shanghai stir-fried noodles and orange-steamed eggs (we ate before the camera did), which were also delicious. The portions for the noodles and tenderloins are really big, so definitely share with other people! Our server was very friendly and gave us great recommendations from the menu. The service was quick and efficient, which is always appreciated, especially at busy restaurants. Cheli fully leans into Chinese decor, complete with wooden structures, Chinese calligraphy, and red lantern lamps that give off nice ambient lighting. It feels authentic without feeling "touristy." It's quite spacious for a restaurant in Manhattan, so you feel at ease and not cramped alongside other customers. Whether you come here with a small group of friends or a date, make sure everyone is ready to eat!

Having eaten Jiang nan cuisine growing up (although I'm an American so maybe this doesn't mean much lmao), this spot has become one of my favorites in the city. Don't expect large portions for cheap like your typical Chinatown restaurant but if you're looking for a nice sit down restaurant I really think the experience is worth it! We made a reservation thankfully bc the wait can get p long otherwise. Ordered pear juice for drinks which I really liked bc it def tasted like smth I'd drink in China, and was only slightly sweet. For food we got the braised pork belly, fried pumpkin cubes with salted duck egg yolk, eel, wine soaked chicken, and green beans. I loved every dish but my favorites were the pork belly and pumpkin cubes. Pork belly was so extremely melt in your mouth and not too salty (btw if you're not familiar with southern Chinese cuisine, the pork belly may be sweeter than you're used to). The salted duck egg yolk on pumpkin was FIRE like I need to be adding salted duck egg yolk on everything now tbh. Service was wonderful, everyone was super attentive, and decor was vibey af. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

It's my first time try Zhejiang Cuisine, and it is way better than my expectation. We ordered the bamboo shoots soup, house special frogs, and grilled boneless beef ribs. Nothing is left but the plates lol. It makes my NY trip more memorable!
Very good Chinese food in New York.
We ordered Longjing shrimp and Hangzhou Brasied duck. Kind of sweet, but I like it. The environment and service were also good.

As someone who grew up in Shanghai, I'm so glad to be able to enjoy authentic Shanghai cuisine here. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, it's not too noisy, and the service is very attentive. My favorite is the Wine-Soaked Chicken; it's the taste of my hometown. I'm always excited to bring my friends here and share the delicious food from my hometown.

I want to eat Jiangnan specialty dishes! I recommend you to come here. Every time you go to New York on business, you have to come here because there are too many delicious foods. Do not miss the crispy Roast squab Yangzhou lion head. The boss is very nice
Solid 4 stars.
I was more impressed with the food this time - everything we got ranged from good to great. We got: Sweet & sour short pork ribs - This was solid. I wasn't expecting it to be cold but it worked - sauce wasn't too sweet and ribs were tasty. Soup dumplings - solid soup dumplings, not a must get but they weren't bad Qianlong's favorite eel - Love wrapping up the eel in the thin pancakes with cucumber and scallions. Steamed dungeness crab with steamed egg and minced crab meat - This was a full crab perched on top of steamed egg. Very tasty and flavorful dish although be prepared to work for your crab meat. Braised pork belly with quail egg in chef special sauce - I was surprised how much I liked this, pork belly was tender and I really really liked the quail eggs. Might have been my favorite dish of the night. Green tea milky rice cake - This is hidden in the dim sum instead of dessert section but it's a really good dessert. Not too sweet with just the right mix of milk powder / matcha on top of the glutinous rice. If you (like me) like the traditional dim sum version of this dish (usually covered with peanut / black sesame), then don't miss this modern take (although maybe not the best value dish at $18).
Great ambiance (old village vibes) and amazing food.
We got xlb (top favorite in the city), fried pumpkin, fish stew, and white pepper beef tofu. Fish strew as a perfect blend of numbing spice with hints of sour. I would highly recommend coming here if you like Chinese food. I love xIb (soup dumplings) and have tried many I'm the city. Eating this one here reminded me of my time in Shanghai and Taiwan. It is legit!

Exquisite, exceptional Chinese… HOT!, refined and above the norm.
Downtown Flushing… the erstwhile New York City “Little India east”, which morphed into “Chinatown east” and then partially (mostly?) into “Koreatown east”, that pulsing, teeming, thrashing, humming, vibrant ‘hood, packed with shoppers, diners, eaters, walkers, gazers, gawkers, yellers, sellers, teeming masses seeking electronics, oriental groceries, signs, sights, sounds, and sssssmells, and delicious, mouthwatering foody aromas. This is a humming hub of oriental life and hectic activity ~ almost like a mini Hong Kong transplanted into northern Queens, complete with golden-brown roasted ducks hanging in restaurant windows, amidst flashing strobelights, hawkers on street corners, sign-carrying yellers flashing flyers-in-your-face, and the resplendent colors of cheap wares everywhere. Just fascinating, fascinating and deliciously fascinating !! Che Li is located on 39th Avenue, by the Hyatt Place Flushing ~ a neighborhood that has morphed from down-at-heel to funky and cool. This place is a visual and culinary delight – if you like eastern food. The décor is Chinese garden from the Jiangzhe region – very much in keeping with the cuisine: with a curving path through wooden pavilions with ornate, carved pergolas over seating groups, plantings, artworks, rocks, rock-pools and a koi pond by the front entrance - quite well done and “authentic”, mimicking a pavilion-ridden riverside dining experience commonly found in South-Eastern China – as per their “story”. The menu offers a wonderful and extensive set of Jiangzhe cuisine, from Southern China. The menu is printed in Chinese (Cantonese ? Mandarin ?) but the very attentive servers are available and eager to help with the selections nd recommendations, based on one’s choice, and heat level. A word of caution: the pot of House Special Fish Stew ($30) is absolutely delicious, but fiery hot. Even if requested “mild.” The serving was a huge, flat-ish bowl, which served the two of us for another two dinners at home. And the Crab Meat Sauce Noodle ($25) is to die for and go to the Heavenly Kingdom. Another notable choice is the Sweet & Sour Short Pork Ribs ($14)… which come in smelling just just just, and off the bone, as delightful lumps of succulent meat. And Atlantic Blue Crab ($14) is served cleaned and split up, in a flat dish, with an amazing sauce that we just couldn’t get enough of. Highly recommended ! We have gone back twice since then already, with various guests in tow … and all have loved the place.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Newbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
