A great meal, great waiter, and the perfect setting in a old neighborhood. First time visit will return at some point. Service with a smile
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food and outstanding service.
This restaurant is one of the top 10 in New Orleans and deserves an A+ rating.
Be the first to ReplyGood lamb-chops, even better scalloped potatoes & soups too.
Perfect spot just off the bar up the steps if you want more intimate conversation otherwise it's a great scene. Enjoy!

We enjoyed dinner at Clancy's several years ago and have been trying to get back. We finally got a Friday night reservation and the evening started out strong but we left disappointed. Appetizers we tried: egg plant fries and chicken sausage gumbo were both tasty. The Boston salad and Romaine salad were both excellent. After a lengthy sales job from the waiter about the excellent sushi grade tuna special, it arrived so over cooked that it was inedible. When the waiter checked in after I had eaten what was cooked correctly and saw all of the overcooked tuna still on the plate, he urged me to let him know "next time" which would mean I would need to get up from the table and hunt him down because he was nowhere in sight after the food arrived. My husband ordered the sirloin which was excellent; however, the fries and greens that were served as sides were cold and the greens were bitter. The coconut pie was average and could have been straight from a box. The ice cream was excellent. We ordered two cafe au laits with dessert and the first one was served with great flair and mixed at the table. It was delicious; however, the other one didn't arrive until we were finished with dessert. The staff appears to be concerned with the guest experience but just doesn't deliver. Dinner for two was $230 and just not worth it. There are too many other options for excellent fine dining in New Orleans, we won't return.
Be the first to ReplyThe gumbo was fantastic.
I also got the lobster risotto and asked for a wine pairing from the waiter and it was spot on. So delicious and upscale without being stuffy. Staff are very welcoming.

If your looking for awesome food and service that's not a tourist trap this is your place. It's always full of locals and even celebrities (Cooper Manning was at the table next us). Everything here is great but the Lamb Chops are truly life changing!

Be the first to ReplyIt was ok.
The turtle soup wasnt very good and the shrimp remoulade was terrible. The bartender was great. Very disappointed.

We were in New Orleans for a friend's birthday in mid-December came here for dinner on a Thursday night. After a very brief wait at the bar we were seated at our table. Drinks arrived promptly and the service was attentive all evening. We ordered a bunch of apps for the table that were all great (especially the veal and ricotta meatballs). For dessert we had the famous icebox pie and it did not disappoint. Wonderful experience!

My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary at Clancy's and had a great experience. The service and food were great. The turtle soup is highly recommend and do not miss the lemon ice box pie We liked the neighborhood atmosphere too. You are not on a main road. It just feels more cozy. If you are looking for a special occasion meal, you can't go wrong with Clancy's.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing! This will be a new staple to our New Orleans trips.
Everything we ordered was on point. If you are on the fence, just go!

One of favorite. Veal annunciation is a must. Delicious as always. Plus the old fashioned were perfect with the right hint of mix . If you come to New Orleans and do not eat here you missing out big time .

Went to New Orleans for a long weekend trip for husband's birthday and chose Clancy's for our birthday dinner. We had an early reservation (5:00 pm) but worked great for us as it freed up our evening for more adult festivities in the quarter.Dinner was most great. Husband had the double cut pork chop and it was just amazing, perfectly cooked and moist Fried eggplant with aioli for an appetizer. huge portion, aioli was very garlic forward though. I opted for the smoked duck with dirty rice. The duck was cooked perfectly, however the dirty rice was bland to me. I also ordered the turtle soup as an appetizer. Very rich, especially finished when finished tableside with sherry, I'm still undecided which I prefer more, the soup here or at Brennan's. Finished dinner with a bottle of Pierre Peters Champagne and the Banana Fosters bread pudding, quite decadent.

We wanted a fine dining experience and went based off the recommendation of a local business owner. We were not disappointed. Not only was our server, Greg, excellent with his recommendations and explanations of the menu but he was also very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant. I had the lamb chops Webster with broccoli and potatoes. Everything was perfect. The seafood special was trout and it was also delicious. Everything we ordered was amazing including the fried fish and pork chops. The pork chops took the trophy though. We finished off dinner with lemon ice box pie and peppermint ice cream, also amazing. For drinks we had a gimlet, margaritas and an old fashioned. All were perfect. We highly recommend the restaurant and Greg. We will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyVery cool, off the 'beaten track', uptown restaurant.
We'd recommend getting a table on the first floor. If you are seated on the 2nd floor be sure not to be anywhere near where the waiter named Peter is working. His voice is so loud you won't be able to hear anyone at your table when he's speaking. When we asked him to lower his voice around us he did with no problem. Must just like to hear himself broadcast menu items and specials to the whole room. Actually spoiled the evening for us.Otherwise, our waiter Greg was terrific, as was the table service personnel. Attentive, charming and quick. The food was good. Anything with the fresh lump crab meat is terrific. The pompano fish with BBQ Gulf shrimp and delicate squash was lovely.
Be the first to ReplyI will put this at my top 5 dining experiences of all time.
The waiter was the best, food incredible, and the atmosphere was perfect. Please make the effort to get here on your next visit to New Orleans. Tremendous!!
Be the first to ReplyUpdate to my old review:Clancy's is awesome.
The more I eat there, the more I enjoy it. From the specials to the staples, I'm rarely disappointed. I'm highly concerned about the soft shell crab shortage. Fingers crossed that comes back. Upstairs vs downstairs dining. Two totally different vibes. Downstairs is loud...in a good way. Lively might be a better descriptor. Upstairs is better for an intimate dinner, more privacy. Either way, hard to go wrong.

3 of us went to Clancy's on 08-13-2021 to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Arrived at 9:00 pm and were immediately seated. It took 25 minutes after we ordered our cocktails for our waiter to bring it and he forgot the 3rd cocktail for the 3rd person. The place is small, it was not packed!!! He spent a lot of time speak with the staff by the bar. We had to ask for the wine menu 3 times. The appetizers were good. I ordered the lamb. It took quite a while for it to arrive to our table. The cauliflower was cold and hard with pepper sprinkled on it, the stacked scalloped potatoes were cold - literally and the lamb chops were lukewarm at best but the size of lollipops all for $46.75! I was shocked!!! My husband's and daughter's meals were tolerable. We will NOT be returning. DO NOT RECOMMEND

When we got up to leave our food finally came (took well over an hour) and it was the wrong order. Managers attitude was obtuse instead of apologetic. Did manage to get the sweetbreads appetizer, not the best ever. Don't waste your hard earned money, Nola has too many other great restaurants for less $$$

Not as good as I expected. You can follow me on Instagram on #thenolacritic to read my brutally honest reviews. Had a dinner date with my husband on a Saturday early evening. Fabulous very Nolan ambiance. Superb service. I had the lamb chops. The meat was super fresh and cooked to perfection, but was only seasoned with salt and pepper. I would still give the meat 8/10. It was served with a potato Parmesan bake which was extremely salty 0/10. It was also served with Brussel Sprouts which was terrible, but in their defense I am not a big fan of Brussels Sprouts. I should have asked what the lamb came with. I the sides were not listed in the menu. I had the bacon shrimp bisque for appetizer which was very good, 8/10. My husband had the pork chop which he really liked it, 8.5/10. The greens and sweet potato purée that came with it were just blah. Definitely at their price point, I expected better. We will give another chance to this New Orleans famous classic.
