Nice
Food was quite nice, nothing special, but very pricy for what it was. Nice location and feel to the bar. Great quality bread too.
Be the first to ReplySuch friendly welcoming staff
Super friendly, helpful staff. Weโve been welcomed in so many times for a light lunch, these guys are a total delight. Ignore the annoying negative reviews. If you treat people with respect, youโre rewarded with delightful service. Oysters are superb with a beautiful Sancerre. The tarama is full of flavour and the Crab Orecchiette is superb.
Be the first to ReplyGreat oysters but staffing issue
On a positive note, the oysters are still top notch if pricey and the burrata was spot on. The noticeable lack of atmosphere is somewhat offset by the splendor of the building. However, the brooding presence of a guy dressed in black who appeared to be part manager/doorman/bouncer was somewhat off-putting. A few tweaks with the staffing would make this a more friendly place to visit in future.
Be the first to ReplyThank you to everyone at the Oyster Bar !
I travel to London once a year for business or pleasure. Every time we are in London, we come to the Oyster Bar for lunch or dinner. All the staff are very nice and everyone makes sure to give us a very pleasant experience. The food served is excellent and the service is outstanding. The restaurant is also magnificent and well located. A great team! Thanks to Nordine, Jรฉrรดme and Ruby!

Very disappointing food. The monkfish was tough and the mussels tasteless. The ceviche was not recognisable as such. The native oysters were good. The room is lacking in atmosphere, is badly lit and badly decorated. The service is slow and almost offhand.
Be the first to ReplyCame for a cosy dinner - left disappointed!
We went for a dinner and left disappointed. We ordered oysters, a starter and a main dish, a bottle of wine and everything arrived within one go. We finished the oysters and as soon as we ate last oyster, the ceviche was served, my partner wasnโt even ready when they took the plates of the ceviche when the main course was served. We arrived after 7pm and the main course was served within 45 minutes. They tried to persuade us to order the dessert but we insisted we first finish our bottle of wine which wasnโt even half finished. Trying to sell a table twice an evening is of course something one needs to do to survive in the restaurant business but serving dinner within 55 minutes and then adding a 15% service charge and a cover charge of 2ยฃ each on top of a bill of 200ยฃ is just a disgrace!

Came with high expectations and left wondering why they are still in business in the fine dining city that London has become ,must be the iconic building that it occupies on the open air ground floor. The food is less than mediocre, the pricing way to high for the quality, and the service so disjointed we concluded that it must have been a training exercise. Will not return, recommend others not to expose themselves to the disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyRude Front of House
We could have put up with the overpriced bill if the front of house person hadn't been so rude and unpleasant. We've never had to ask that the service charge be removed from the bill before. The manager didn't even attempt to smooth over our very obvious indignation. All the other staff were lovely and the place is great.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely Superb
Iโm often in London on business and love travelling down night before to relax and prepare . Whilst great if more than one diner , if youโre considering somewhere to dine solo I canโt think of anywhere better than here . Pavement table on a balmy early September evening , utterly delightful service from Dervla and Calmerie ( spelling could be wrong ) and very good food and wines . I donโt think Claude Bossi ( had the most incredible meal at the outstanding Chester Hotel in Aberdeen when he cooked there ) will have as much to do here as with his Michelin upstairs Bibendum and he doesnโt need to - uncomplicated but very good French menu with an utterly superb location to people watch Cosmopolitan London . Been coming for years and Iโll go back and back 10/10 .
Be the first to ReplyExceptional architectural landmark, humdrum grub
Being a petrolhead I had always wanted to dine in this iconic landmark. Lovely place to people watch. However, the food wasn't up to the quality of the venue. I'd try again though.
Be the first to ReplyHandy lunch spot
I dropped in for lunch with friends. A limited but well chosen menu . Food was well cooked and tasty. Service good. Ambience surprisingly good given you are in a potentillas cavernous space with other people walking through, but it was warm and comfortable. Prices are quite high, but sadly not unusual in the London of today.
Be the first to ReplyGreat venue, poor value food
A limited and overpriced menu, with underwhelming food and meagre portions. Lovely venue and attentive staff: probably best for oysters and wine.
Be the first to ReplyStunning Place. Good times.
stunning setting and neighborhood favorite set in the classic art-deco Bibendum building. the oyster bar is the little sister of claude bosi's signature resto upstairs. great for a date night or a boozy lunch. you have to know your way around the menu a little bit but the seafood is always very good as are the burgers. the staff will be happy to guide you. ask questions. sometimes the setting of a restaurant trumps the food, and maybe the case for the oyster bar here, but a must visit if you're in the area. look out for the original mosaic floors.
Be the first to ReplyGood spot for lunch
Perfect beef! I had steak frites, service was friendly, the salade niรงoise was a little chilled. Otherwise very good. Nice room.
Be the first to ReplyDonโt miss !
Forget about all the other oyster spots and make the effort to get a table at Claude Bosi oyster bar. The team is hardworking and doesnโt know how to say no. We enjoyed excellent wine choices from the 2 star Michelin wine list. Our somm Galina presented, decanted and managed a delicious 1995 Clape Cornas.. Caylan our waiter knows the menu and helped guide us to the perfect oysters and a few other dishes. The room is run by a true restaurateur, Nordine who uses his background from Lyon to put the perfect twist on your dining experience. Highly recommended this excellent restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyA major improvement over the past
After three years of forced separation, we were finally able to travel to London again in late August/early September. We dutifully made lunch reservations at Bibendum Oyster Bar as we have for more than a decade. What we encountered this time really impressed us. The restaurant has undergone a major upgrade in both menu and aesthetics (thankfully keeping the flower stand!). The service has upgraded, as well. We were warmly welcomed and seated at a sidewalk table at our request - the people watching at this corner is good but the motorcar watching is also excellent! Rollers, Bentleys, McLarens, Ferraris and other exotics pass by constantly...it's enough to make a gear head swoon! We enjoyed a tin of caviar and six delicious oysters, a lovely buratta plate and a salad. Champagne accompanied this fine feast from their impressive wine list. Next visit, I'm going for the Salad Nicoise and/or the fruits de mer plate. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Full marks to Nordy and his team for a perfectly delightful lunch. Congratulations on your vastly improved offerings.
Be the first to ReplyPretty good experience
Very good option for lunch or dinner. Those interested in a good bottle of wine can request the list from the restaurant upstairs. Very casual atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyRum the baba..
Still a fantastic venue with great service and excellent food which has improved post lockdown. The tortelloni was superb, the rum baba was delicious - there was no need for an after dinner drink as our server very kindly allowed us to select the quantity of rum in our rum baba - needless to say it was overflowing with rum! Highly recommended venue.

Perfect bank holiday lunch. Really knowledgeable waitress helped us choose the perfect oysters and rose. Buzzy people watching.
Be the first to ReplyVery average
Absolutely nothing special here. Fish and chips below average. Fish soup ok, but not more. Friendly efficient service and fair wine prices. Food is honestly a bit of a shame for a place with Michelin restaurant above.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, lovely atmosphere and great menu.
Highly recommend! We had oysters and a bottle of wine, the waitress (who was very knowledgable about the wine menu) took the time to recommend the best wine for us to have with our oysters and let us test two different types. All the staff we interacted with were so friendly and polite, will definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food
Great service, staff were super accommodating. Delicious food and gorgeous atmosphere. We had a lovely lunch here and canโt wait to make it our regular spot.
Great for casual and special occasions. Thank you!
Nearly great
We had the very expensive seafood platter and mostly it delivered. The mussels and whelks were cooked to perfection and the oysters were great, if unexceptional. The crab was the best cornish version I have ever tasted, so that made it worthwhile. But the brown shrimp and the king prawns were boring. Fresh but without any flavor. There was not crustacean taste and no sweetness. The "caesar salad" is lovely, light and a perfect refreshing complement to the shellfish but it seemed to be completely devoid of anchovy. If it weren't called "caesar", I would recommend it! Very tasty (but very expensive) wines and the table service was excellent.

We ate here for Saturday luncheon and it didnโt fail to meet our expectations. The setting is fabulous art deco and retains the majority of the buildings original features.
The limited menu showcases the ingredients, from sardines simply grilled to lobster tagliolini, fresh oysters to the pate en croute, all were prepared and cooked to perfection.
The wine list, whilst not extensive, has a range of prices to suit most wallets and having wine available by the carafe makes a welcome change from most restaurants.
Having managed to bag a table at the back we were well placed to take in the ambiance, people watch and admire the fantastic decor from the days when the building was the England HQ for the Michelin Tyre Company.
An excellent place for a luncheon and well worth a visit.
What happened?
This used to be one of my very favorite restaurants for a casual lunch in London. They've changed the menu, and in trying to be modern and new, I feel it's been ruined. I can't imagine going back, none of what I loved, classic good fresh simply prepared seafood is there anymore. I need to hear from others who've returned and say that it's back to what it used to be before I go there again.
