Very posh! Amazing views.
Food was too heavy for a mid-ski meal. And there were no good options for veg or dairy-free. Basically, people go so that they can say they were there.
Be the first to ReplyThis was a beyond disappointing experience.
We made a "standard apres" reservation for 1:45 pm as we wanted the apres experience at cloud 9, not the lunch experience that we would have at an earlier seating. When we arrived we were seated at a table crammed between other tables that barely fit our 6 people around. No one came to our table for at least 15-20 minutes- when someone finally came over we tried to order a couple bottles of wine but were told VERY rudely that we could not drink unless we ordered food. The attitude from the server was so off putting that we wanted to leave instantly. We said we would order a couple appetizers for the table (as we'd already eaten lunch prior to 2pm) but were told that we'd all need to order an entree otherwise she could only give us each a half glass of wine (the allotted food:alcohol ratio was extremely arbitrary and nothing I've experienced at any mountain bar/restaurant EVER). We were told that this is for "liability" issues and is a "restaurant policy". This was not mentioned anywhere in the reservation booking. Needless to say we were not interested in ordering full meals when we'd already eaten and were just looking to have a couple drinks and a fun time. We couldn't get up and leave fast enough- when you're gonna pay the outrageous prices they're charging for wine, I'd at least like to be served with a smile and not treated like the scum of the earth by the extremely condescending staff. Spend your money at the many other wonderful places on the mountain and avoid this place at all costs!
Be the first to ReplyMid mountain restaurant and famed après ski party site on
Mid mountain restaurant and famed après ski party site on Aspen Highlands. Not a big lodge, with a cramped indoor space that sits 20-30 guests and an outdoor patio that's about the same size. Ski/snowboard in and out. Definitely get a later reservation ($50 deposit minimum, 1:30 or 1:45pm) to get into the party. The food is pricey, and the champagne list is even pricier. My friend and I both got a hot chocolate to start. It's an okay hot chocolate for $8. The prix fixe mains are like $68 each and includes soup or salad. I got the short rib and got the soup. The soup is a shellfish (maybe lobster) bisque which was decent. The short rib came with some greens and potatoes. Tasted fine, although portion is not that big. Lastly, ordered the chocolate fondue which is $25 and can only be ordered if your group has 2 or more people. Portion wise this was pretty big, and has a bunch of ingredients like berries, marshmallows, cookie chunks etc. to dip into the chocolate sauce. Overall bill including tip was around $120 per person. Will be a lot more if you order alcohol. The apres-ski party starts at around 2:30pm, and happens in the outdoor space. Highrollers that buy champagne are given special champagne spray guns that look like Thompson submachineguns. The DJ starts blasting the tunes and everybody is singing along and dancing (as well as you could in ski/snowboard boots) while people spray thousands of dollars worth of champagne all over the place. Was a bluebird sunny day when I was there, so got the beautiful backdrop of the blue skies, snow on the ski runs and mountains in the distance. Party ends at about 3:45pm after all the lifts close, and hopefully you're not too drunk to get down the mountain. Overall, a pricey but fun experience. The food is okay and not great for the price, but it's the setting and the party that makes the experience.
Be the first to ReplyDon't believe the fake reviews.
Smells like pooey. Cheapest glass of wine is $40. They'll ask you to lie to them just to get in. Kitchen closed before three. We walked out so cannot speak to food or drink quality.
Be the first to ReplyFood was amazing.
Chicken superb. Salad tasty. Savory bread pudding was amazing. Service is five star. Eating on the deck in the spring is priceless.
Be the first to ReplyThe coolest ski in/out restaurant ever.
Incredible views. Champagne flowing and the DJ always rocking, its a day club on the top of the ski hill. You have to make a reservation a year+ in advance if you want a table inside (which we did not) but got to hang inside for a bit with some new friends we made in line for the bathroom(it was super crowded). Food was average but vibe was 10/10

I got in to the 2pm seating with two friends, but they sat us in the no spray/family room. At 3pm the party breaks loose. Great music and people were having a good time all around us, but not where we were seated. I saw others go back and forth between outside and inside, and I went outside to take a quick photo. When I tried to go back in the door to my table less than 10 ft away I was grabbed by the arm by what I can only describe as an elderly rent a cop. He very forcefully pulled my arm down and pushed me backwards. I have never ever been touched like that in my life. AFTER grabbing me he said I couldn't use that door and had to use another entrance. I was so confused and said "my table is right there." He argued with me and blocked the door. I had one glass of wine all day at this point and wasn't by any means drunk or looking for a problem. A waiter walked by and I asked where I could enter and pointed to my table nearby. He told the security guard to let me go in. The security guard said "well she never told me she was right there." I cannot believe his behavior. I should have spoken to someone in charge at the time, but I was so shocked by his aggressive behavior. A couple at a table inside asked if I was ok and commented on how absurd the whole thing was. Shortly after my friends and I left. Don't pay this kind of money to be treated like shit. Also the reviews about the food are true--it's not that good.
Be the first to ReplyThe smell of sulfur is nauseating.
$60 for one person is fine if it is worth it. We had a group of four for the fondue and they gave us one tiny platter ... after a morning of skiing that's a SNACK. I left feeling still hungry. This place is the definition of a rip off. It's just an overpriced instagram spot. NOT WORTH IT.

Be the first to ReplyYou can't beat the views from Cloud Nine! Having a drink
You can't beat the views from Cloud Nine! Having a drink with Maroon Bells in the background is an experience in itself. The prices of everything is also as high as the clouds but it's on top of a mountain in Aspen so what else do you expect at the rich peoples party. The 3pm après-ski party is like nothing I've ever seen! Music bumping, people dancing on tables, and hundreds of dollars of Champagne being sprayed everywhere. Such a fun experience... I will say the inside party was so hot, humid and smelt like straight booze that I almost puked just walking inside. I also got aggressively pushed by a server as I was trying to walk to the bathroom. I'd suggest enjoying the party outside which seemed much more enjoyable. Also, you have to be careful skiing back down to town after champagne galore. Drunk skiers all going down at once is never a good mix.
Be the first to ReplyI was greeted by George who was at the hostess stand.
He was very rude to me and my guests. I notified the manager, Tommy. He was not very helpful and dismissed George's rudeness. For the amount of money they charge for a meal I would expect to be treated well. So, if you like being treated like shit, this is the place for you..!!!

I love this place ! A must go when in Aspen! Such a unique experience. Lots of Champagne ! Excellent menu too, try the seafood tower !
Be the first to ReplyWent there over the weekend of January 23rd.
Had a great time, but when it came to pay, our group clearly explained that we wanted to pay for our $267 tab with $100 cash, and the rest on a credit card. Our server, Cliff, must've pocketed the cash, as we left a 20% tip in addition to the $267, thinking that he deducted the $100 from the total. The total we were charged for was $317, in addition to the $100 cash we already gave. After explaining this to the credit card company, Cloud Nine has continued to deny our claims, and suggests that there was ever any cash involved. Great location, shady business. Hopefully they turn it around soon.
Be the first to ReplyYou can't make a trip to Aspen without going.
Even if you have to ski Highlands just to go. By the way that's the only option for getting there as it is ski in ski out. Pre-Covid there was a famous champagne party which will hopefully be back but in the meantime you can still enjoy the bubbles along with the raclette and fondue among other delicious mountain delicacies. Make a reservation way ahead of time!

5 stars to the Chef! Food was outrageously good! It was extremely windy and freezing the day we sat outside. Our water froze in glass during our sunny lunch. Soup and fresh bread was such a good start. We split entrees and I had to add an apple dessert. Come on now.

How fun was this experience ! If you like to go crazy on the slopes with music and champagne showers but also enjoy tasty alpine cuisine.. then you gotta try Cloud Nine ! Staff was so nice and welcoming. I'd highly recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my third time at Cloud Nine.
The first time over ten years ago it was a tiny shack with great alpine food. Then five years ago they doubled the size and the prices but it was fun and the food was still really good. So we came back today for their signature gruyère fondue, which is just an awful powder mix that, despite asking three times, they never managed to get hot. We finally sent it back and settled for the dish of the day, a Wiener schnitzel that was small, way overfried, and just disgusting too. The waiter did his best and was very sweet, but that food just sucked. Even the tomato soup tasted more like a punishment. We were at the first, 11:30 AM, service, the 2 PM is more about dancing on tables and spilling Veuve Cliquot. I hope that part is fun, but I will miss my $180.
Be the first to ReplyDo NOT order the gnocchi it's horrendous.
I can't believe I got charged $51 for dry sweet potato pellets covered in cinnamon powder. Not at all what was described. Yuck.
Be the first to ReplyThey were knowingly charged my credit card fraudulently.
Watch out! They mark up the wine 4 or 5 times retail.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was EXPENSIVE but a blast.
We had a beautiful view and our lunch was great. Severs were polite. One word to the wise: if you book the 2pm seating, make sure you're INSIDE! They will not let you into the party even if you're a paying customer sitting outside :(. Kind of disappointing but the views and food made up for it :)
