So, I'm going to start off by saying this isn't my typical preferred restaurant style. It's a little 'fancy' for my taste. I don't like exotic ingredients and overly complicated dishes. Yeah, more of a meat-potatoes guy, but not quite as limited as that implies. Regardless, overall I would say it was a relativley good experience. The Good: Food was good. Not great, but good. I tasted three apetizers. Calamari was good, not tough like most times I've had it. Blue crab claws were ok, but not as good as expected. The shrimp and cheese dip was very good as well. I had the filet for my meal. It was a good cut, but was a little under-seasoned. It was cooked perfectly medium as requested. The ok: Service was friendly, but slow. They were surprisingly busy for a weeknight, but I didn't expect it to take 2 hours and 20 minutes for us to go from seated to leaving. I had the key lime pie (traditional, it also comes in dark chocolate covered), the texture was good, the crust was good, but it was just a little too sweet. Plus it was $11 for an average sized slice, probably not large enough to share. The Bad: The restaurant has two seating areas, one indoors around the bar, which was fine, and a 'patio' that was mostly enclosed. Outdoor temps were in the upper 40's and the patio was uncomfortable. They had about 40 propane heaters around the room so there was this weirdly inconsistent temperature depending on where you sat. Sometimes I was comfortable, then I would get cold with no warning. Management should just go ahead and put in a heating system to be consistent. The patio was very loud. There were 8 of us at the table and I could not hear the person sitting across from me. It was very difficult to carry on a conversation. Cost. The cost was not excessive, but for what I got I felt like it was overpriced. My filet was $52 and included mashed potatoes and a vegtable. Filet was probably 6 oz. Compared to my favorite steak place where I can get a 12oz filet, salad, baked potato, and bread for $50. It's also a superior steak both in the quality of the meat and the seasoning. I guess I just expected better given the price. Last negative... the men's bathroom had two stalls. One was fine, but the second one was tiny. It was hard to get into and out of and I felt claustrophobic using it. In conclusion, I wouldn't choose to eat here again. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going, but I think there are better options available. I could see how others would like it better.
