Memorable and Wonderful!
I've been meaning to write a review of this gem of a restaurant since my husband and I had our small reception here when we got married 10 years ago this Nov! The downstairs wine room was ours for the evening and my daughter picked out our wines with the Sommelier! Everyone totally enjoyed literally every dish ordered and the service was wonderful. My brother and son competed on who could eat more of the delicious marinated olives we had as one of the appetizers. LOL! We've been back several times over the years and it never disappoints. Time to visit again!! You won't be disappointed! Charming decor and delicious food, what more could you want?

Excellent food, wines, service and ambiance for memorial & thank-you time with 16 friends of late son. Cost was quite reasonable for a restaurant in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyPast its Prime
This used to be one of the best restaurants in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Alas, time--or perhaps Covid-19--has taken its toll. On our last two visits we found the food just average, as opposed to exceptional two or three years ago. The lone waiter worked as hard as he could but we still had to wait a very long time for our main course. We wish Convivium well (it seems to be thriving!) but we probably will not return anytime soon.
Be the first to ReplyWhen you just need the Italian experience
I ordered food for take out here. The food was one of the best meals I had I all year. After visiting the Italian countryside a few years back I longed for that Italian experience of delicous food and I would try to find it here again in NY. I hit the jackpot here! Plus we found some olives in jar in the mini grocery area and threw those in with the order as well. To my fiancé and my delight we raved about every bite of the food. And the olives where bay far the best we have ever had! Thanks for putting so much love in the food and making such special dishes. Everything was very special!

Went with my wife and some friends for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed everything, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was charming and warm. Definitely will be going back.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing and expensive Thanksgiving
My sister, husband and I had Thanksgiving here are my sister’s suggestion, she had been to this restaurant a decade ago and loved it. Unfortunately it was crazy expensive for the meal we received. Scallops were bland and gritty. Turkey dinner was nothing special and pumpkin pie was barely edible. Service was just fine and atmosphere was cozy and lovely, we just felt like we spent way too much on a just ok meal. We will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyGood food. Shady business
This was our second visit to this restaurant. Food was very good and service was adequate. Unfortunately both times when we tried to pay the bill they told us that our credit card was not working . This was not true. Credit card company was called and said nothing wrong with card. First time we gave them the benefit of the doubt. Second time they lost our business .
Great atmosphere & good food...
Made a reservation here for my daughter and I before a concert at Barclays. We were escorted past the small upstairs dining area to the "wine cellar" basement which was very cozy and atmospheric. Service was slow but acceptable, but not so for the party next to us. Took a very long time for them to even get menus and then even longer for just the drinks to come out. There seems to be no dedicated host, server or bus person. Everyone does everything (which can be good or bad). Menu is a bit limited for picky eaters. My daughter asked for plain tomato sauce with her pasta but was told that they did not have any that day. Would like to visit again in the future though...it feels like you went to Italy for a bit.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Mom & Pop Italian Restaurant
This is a "mom and pop" Italian restaurant with extensive wine selections. It had rustic charm, beautiful that lovely. Such a warm, romantic space for a perfect date! It is a rather small space, but they do have another room downstairs, which can be used for a private event.
We had a few appetizers to share; Burrata con Pomodoro e Basilico, and Ravioli di Mele. Burrata dish was fresh and tasty, refreshing on a hot, steamy day. Ravioli had a nice sweetness to it, packed with flavor!
We also had their infamous Carciofo alla Romana, which is a Braised Artichoke. It was unique and impressive. The heart was almost creamy, melt in your mouth.
They had a few special of the day, and one of them was lasagna. We didn't order it, but we got a small sample, and it was soooooo good!
For main, I chose Spigola al Forno, a ‘Whole’ Mediterranean Sea Bass It came out beautiful! One of the owners, Michelle, filleted it for me right there. The first bite of the fish gave me such joy...it was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed this dish very much!
My hubby went with Agnello in Crosta di Pistacchio, a Sicilian Pistachio Crusted Roasted Rack of Lamb. It had a great crunchy exterior with plump and juicy inside. Packed with flavor, tender and very satisfying.
We ended with Tiramisù and Torta di Cioccolato. It was one of the best Tiramisù and flourless chocolate cake I’ve ever had!
We had an amazing dinner here, I am so happy to have discovered this restaurant! Everything we had was superb, we enjoyed them all from the first bite to the last. Our main server, Valentine, took a great care of us. If you want to have some authentic, delicious food with family and friends, or have a very romantic date, this might be the perfect spot for you!
This place is perfection!
My husband and I booked a table here for an early dinner before an event at the Barclays Center. Convivium Osteria is a very charming restaurant with a rustic Italian feel. The street level dining room is small but not crowded. There are more tables downstairs in the “wine cellar”. The gentleman behind the bar greeted us at the door and took us to our table. There was one other server at the time and the two of them took care of us in tandem. The service they provided was excellent. The food was incredible. I started with a sausage- stuffed grilled quail on a bed of figs and finished with a port reduction. The sausage was a perfect contrast to the quail and the fruit and port together completed this perfect dish. Next, we shared a green apple and ricotta ravioli topped with a duck confit ragu. Again, this unique dish was the perfect blend of flavors and might be my favorite ravioli of all time. I ended my meal with a whole roasted Mediterranean Sea bass and my husband had the pistachio-crusted lamb. Both dishes were delicious. I could have spent hours here sampling dishes and drinking wine (it’s that kind of place) but we had an event to attend. The restaurant is only two blocks from the Barclays Center and I highly recommend dining here any time you find yourself in the neighborhood. Actually, I would say dinner at Convivium Osteria is worth the trip to Brooklyn.
