Coop's Place New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Great drinks and food
This is a little hole-in-the wall bar & restaurant on the lower end of Decatur Street. It's a bit divey but that's part of it's charm. My husband had the fried catfish and I had the fried shrimp and both were plentiful and delicious. We also had the Rum Punch to drink and they were tasty and strong.
Cool little dive bar in the French Quarter
One of my waiters at another restaurant recommended this place for gumbo, so I gave it a try. I am not a gumbo expert, but I liked it. Service was great, and very affordable. This is a small dive bar in the French Quarter, nothing extravagant, but I like those kinds of places. If you are nearby during lunch hour, I would give it a try.
Good beer, great food, tons of character
Coop’s is my favorite spot in the city! Great food, great beers, great music. Very friendly staff, tons of local character, lots of lively conversation and NOT a tourist trap.
Real Deal Dive with the BEST food
AWESOME food and funny staff. True hole in the wall in the French Quarter. Do not expect a fancy or formal experience- the staff is direct and doesn’t appreciate snooty or demanding guests, which is hilarious to me. It’s a place to get in, eat, and enjoy. Our waitress was hilarious and warm, it’s a small place to make sure everyone in your party is there to be seated. Must be 21. Best fried chicken and gumbo !
I WILL RETURN WHENEVER I RETURN TO NEW ORLEANS
Excellent Cajun and Creole food. I really enjoyed their food. I know several places in Louisiana and this one is very worth it. Etoufee is delicious but prepare for a really spicy meal. The fried oysters, Cajun chicken and jambalaja, simply delicious. Every time I return to New Orleans I return to that place. The service is also very good.
Rude staff but not bad food
I’ve tried eating here before but ended up leaving because a server yelled at me to wait outside after entering and when I stood in the wrong place outside the restaurant entrance, she came out and insulted my intelligence by saying to wait by the line on the sidewalk and said “you do know what a line is don’t you?” I gave it another chance and the staff was just rude and obnoxious. Won’t be back. The food wasn’t bad.
Skip this place…rude staff…filthy bathrooms! Makes you wonder about cleanliness of the kitchen!
Good food…..rude waitress!! Bathroom was filthy! Would not have eaten here had I used the restroom first! Heard the men’s room was no better…which says a lot!
Omg!!! Jambalaya gumbo fried chicken and lamb were all
Omg!!! Jambalaya gumbo fried chicken and lamb were all sinfully delicious the flavors are what I've always dreamed it would taste from New Orleans will be coming back again and again from New York
Had a bowl of gumbo there on St.
Paddy's day. The roux, everything was fantastic, but very very salty.
Food good, staff rude
No doubt the food was excellent, but the waiter we had was obnoxious and rude. I think he was trying to be funny, but his sense of humor was crude. The bartender was intoxicated taking shots with the patrons. Overall, atmosphere was a tank, but food was delicious. I’d definitely recommend, but with different staff.
Did not have the shrimp creole this time.
I opted for a combo shrimp and crawfish poboy. The bread was soft and melt-in-your mouth but also maintained its integrity in the face of overstuffed shrimp and crab. The fries are good, but you don't really need them, this poboy is enough. My husband had the jambalaya which is what he always gets and he was incredibly pleased to see that it's still damn good. The prices are still so reasonable, too. This is a place you need to time your meal because it gets pretty busy fairly quickly. I didn't use the restrooms here because I remember them being pretty bad so if they've been improved in the last 8 years, I apologize.
Probably my favorite spot for drinks and food.
Etouffee is the best, but all the dishes are spot on.
Food was under seasoned and very watery.
The fried chicken tasted good but nothin special. The shrimp etouffe was tasty but diminished by the bland watery mushy rice base
Fairly tasty food in a busy area.
We walked about 20 minutes to eat here because of the reviews. It was 3:00 on a Monday and we did not have to wait for a seat. However, the bar chairs are not comfortable for elderly—we were given a table when I requested after a little hassle. The woman server was a tad surly, but she was efficient. We liked the casual atmosphere of the place. The food was good and very plentiful, but I would not say it was great. We had so much better getting away from the Quarter a bit. I ordered a combination shrimp and oyster po boy with a side of fries. I was delivered the combination platter rather than the sandwich, and I think it was a better option actually and the fries were not extra. My husband had the sample plate. The chicken was excellent. I was not wild about the beans that I tried from the plate, so I liked my dinner better. He rated the gumbo as spicy and ok.
Get away from Bourbon Street and enjoy this earthy bar/restaurant
A friend of mine, who is a New Orleans native, highly recommended this bar/restaurant for its earthiness, vibe and good food. He was spot on. We ordered a blackened redfish po' boy. It was huge on soft bun. It was one of the my favorite things I ate during our 5-day stay in the Big Easy. it was $22.95. The people sitting next to us ordered a huge plate of various fried things. They left one small French fry. They must have liked it. The bartender/server was friendly and was kept busy by a place full of customers. It's located near the French Market and Cafe du Monde' it was an easy walk 20 minute from our hotel (Renaissance French Quarter).
I'm a local, have eaten here before.
I had read about their rabbit and sausage jambalaya - so thought I would give it a try. I ordered the rabbit and sausage jambalaya supreme, (they add shrimp and tasso to the dish.) It was just okay. Tasted like the cook had put an overwhelming amount of hot sauce on it - to give it a little flavor? Addition of that much hot sauce should be left up to the individual diner. Hot sauce overpowered the flavor of the dish. Portion size was good. As far as the service .... the grouchy female bartender/server (I ate at the bar) was making negative comments to the customers about other customers and food workers that came into the bar while I was there. Didn't think that was necessary. I do recommend the chicken. Have eaten it on multiple occasions.
Worth the wait and sitting at the bar is best! Ms Laura
Worth the wait and sitting at the bar is best! Ms Laura guided us on suggestions: from the shrimp and grits to the blackened redfish, everything was AMAZING!!!!
We really enjoyed the visit.
They made a special vegan dish for us. The atmosphere was very cozy.
Legendary food in a bar atmosphere! Service with an
Legendary food in a bar atmosphere! Service with an attitude, a very fun place! Looking forward to going back this fall when I ride my motorcycle through.
Fun local dive bar that my sister and brother in law told
Fun local dive bar that my sister and brother in law told me about years ago. I've stopped by both times I've been in New Orleans. Fresh, homemade food with great service. The seafood gumbo was our favorite part of the meal. The bar area is the place to sit to get to know the staff who's all been there forever. The place is small, but normally busy. No reservations taken and I appreciate it being 21 and over.
Best Fried Chicken!
Coop's Place came highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken was to die for and the dish came with two large crispy chicken breasts, jambalaya and coleslaw. It was a huge place of food. My friend had the cajun pasta and loved it.
Put your phone away and eat!
We ate here twice while staying in NOLA for a week in early January. It was recommended by a food tour guide on our first day, and we were in a hotel nearby. Words to describe this place, lively, tasty, delicious, and memorable. The staff were fun and helpful and we felt very welcome. This is exactly the food we wanted to experience on our trip from Scotland.
Excellent food and drinks.
Found this place when searching for restaurants that Locals eat at. It did not disappoint. The drinks were tasty, but the food was awesome. Excellent Creole/Cajun food - redfish, Shrimp etouffee. They may sit you at a long table with other guests -like a community style table; or you might get a regular table. The waitress gave us excellent suggestions on what to get, when we couldn't narrow down our choices - and they were so good.
Authentic and Tasty Casual FQ Fare
In my opinion, this was the best local casual food in the FQ on our recent trip. Casual, nice, friendly bar feel. Great service. We had the fried oysters appetizer. My first time trying oysters, and they were very delicious. For my entrée, I had Chicken Tchoupitoulas. It was a delicious grilled chicken breast topped with shrimp in a cream sauce and tasso on top of rice and green beans on the side. Only thing I needed was a bit more of the delicious cream sauce. I also had a very nice cocktail, although I don't remember the name.
Good food
Awesome food and atmosphere! Kattai was fun and the food was outstanding.. we had the fried chicken, alligator bites! Everything was good
No pomp and circumstance here but some darn good food
If you want some great food without all the fuss, this is the place to be. Do not come here for ambiance, but you’ll be sure to get some good food. Ask the wirey, gravel voiced waiter-he steered us straight

Thank you for the question, if a seller is working on answering your bid, you cannot cancel it until their time is up and the bid is released back to you. The full amount of funds then go back into your AT account. Typically a seller has 48-72 hours to complete the bid.
