COYA Mayfair London Reviews
Overpriced
Our waiter and sommelier were great, very helpful and very informative. However, whilst I am used to paying top dollar in London restaurants, this placed is well over-priced for what you get. £46 for a teeny-tiny fillet steak with no other accompaniments?! The worse bit though.....£95 for a bottle of Cloudy Bay which is £22 in Waitrose?? We really don't mind spending decent money for incredible food but we also don't like being taken for mugs when ordering a standard bottle of wine. The food is good but nothing to write home about. Sorry COYA, you need to look at this. The fact that there were hardly any guests must resonate with my review??
Disappointing.
Coya is a Peruvian restaurant. Some of the food is terrific while other dishes are just adequate. The service is just okay. Overall there are many spots for an interesting dinner.
Unprofessional service
Horrible experience. I had to ask more than 5 times for my still water and then they brought me a bottle refilled with tap water. They didnt ask if we had any intolerances or alergies and werent able to inform about the ingredients. I would never come back.
Very expensive, Instagram and poor food
The service was ok. The music was very loud - like eating in a nightclub. The food was very expensive, I was expecting that, but it really wasn’t worth it. Had the steak which was great, the rest to be honest was average to poor. I should have looked more closely before booking and I’d have seen, the target market is clearly people who want to go out to be seen rather than people going out for good food.
Amazing
Amazing taste of meal, great atmosphere. Especially I want to thank Pedro from the staff for his advise and interest. Thanks Pedro!
Amazing food but not the friendliest staff
The food is cooked beautifully, amazing flavours, I just wish the portions were slightly bigger! The music and atmosphere is also great, however the staff could stand to be a bit friendlier. Having been here a few times, we only return due to how tasty the food is! Once tried to book by calling and after the first attempt, the reception staff just took the phone off the hook to stop us calling 😐

Excellent food, surprising dishes, great cocktails and beautiful decor. Service was accommodating. Music too loud.
Will go again 🥂
Great experience . We had a big voucher to spend at La Coya and we went with friends! Great choice of dishes made by the chef , fab wine recommendation to pair the food, delicious desserts too . Lovely service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing chef selection menu that my girlfriend and I
Amazing chef selection menu that my girlfriend and I enjoyed. Great ambiance and service during our meal! My first time enjoying this type of food!
Go somewhere else
Table wasn't ready on time and we had to wait 15 minutes while standing in the bar which was extremely packed and incredibly loud. No one came asking if we wanted a drink and it was impossible to order. When we finally got a table, I almost had to beg for a waiter to come and take our order. Bad services, great food, and expensive bill. There are better choices in London.
Must go place in Mayfair
A bit small portions but flavoursome food. Good cocktails and deserts. A must try place for a twisted Peruvian food. Love the decor.
Lamb chops!
Lamb chops 10/10 bit pricey but worth it!l You get what you pay for and it definitley did not disappoint! Service was good. A bit more room needed with the tables, slightly tight but was great overall
This place is absolutely beautiful! The food, the cocktails
This place is absolutely beautiful! The food, the cocktails and the service is outstanding! The DJ plays great music and it is a whole vibe!! Everything we hoped it would be, coming to London for the first time from the U.S. we were not sure what to expect and we were so happy with the entire experience!! I highly recommend!!
UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!
I visited this place with my partner on 26 January night. Everything was smooth and we almost finished our night with very positive vibes but unfortunately Mr Gorav ruined everything in just 10 seconds… We had our last drinks at 00:45 and at 01:00am music finished and it was like a time to leave. At 01:05am Mr Gorav came to us and said that it is time to leave, with what we certainly agreed, but only after we are going to finish our last drinks tho as we have PAID for them already, which would have taken no more than 3-5 minutes. This unacceptably rude and impolite guy told us that we have 30 seconds to leave this building or we will be kicked out by FORCE! Just imagine that! I am sitting there relaxing with my girlfriend and I have been told that a bouncer will come and KICK ME OUT!!! They just made a harassment on me in front of my girlfriend (who can confirm it btw)! We did not do anything unacceptable or wrong. BY THE WAY NO ONE INFORMED US THAT EXACTLY AT 1AM WE HAVE TO BE OUT WITHOUT FINISHING OUR DRINKS! After that we asked them to provide plastic cups (as they usually should do in that type of situations, but we have been refused as well!) So no plastic cups, 30 seconds to leave, thats all! I assume for that kind of restaurant and also for that high prices this is not the service you would expect from them…
AVOID!!! AVOID!!!! AVOID!!!!
PLEASE AVOID!! I’ve been there for drinks on Friday night. Me and my partner had 3 cocktails and around 00:30am the waiters told us that they are doing the last drinks order. We decided to have another cocktail and around 00:45 we got them. Unfortunately, straight ahead at 1am one of staff members who’s name was Gorav told us we have to leave the building IMMEDIATELY despite the fact that our cocktails haven’t been finished, our glasses were half full. We asked for just few minutes more to stay there and finished our cocktails, because no one informed us that exactly at 1am we have to be out of the building. THIS GUY THREATENED US TO BE KICKED US BY FORCE!!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! This night was going on really well until this GUY ruined EVERYTHING!!!!! I finished my cocktail just after 30 seconds. I’ve been in this restaurant so many times, and not only in London. I know so many people who are working there and in Dubai COYA AS WELL!!!! If no one of the staff members going to look at this situation seriously, then unfortunately I will have to proceed further legally and I won’t leave the situation the way it is now !!!!!!
Strongly Disappointed
Very disappointed in the ambience and all of the above (except the staff were nice). Such an overrated place and not worth its price range.
Good but not amazing.
Food was good but felt a bit rushed. Like as soon as we took our last bite of anything they took the plate/bowl away. Also very Miami vibe in terms of the oontz oontz house music played by a live DJ all night.
Do not cater for food intolerances
If you have food intolerances, avoid absolutely, they don’t cater for special requirements. I met friends at COYA in the city and was very disappointed. The waiter was confused by our orders so a plate went back to the kitchen when it did not need to. When I listed my intolerances, the waiter looked like I was bothering him. After checking with the chef, nothing on the menu except steak (£44!!!) and grilled broccoli (as in raw and burnt). No need to say that left a very bitter taste in my mouth… After 2 hours at the table we were asked to leave. Think twice before booking!
Great experience
The restaurant has a beautiful Mayfair style. The waiters were all very friendly and spontaneous. A great experience for an unique trip
Ladies lunch
Three of us went to the Coya for lunch on Friday. The restaurant was beautiful. Unfortunately we found the service very slow. We had a long wait for our drinks and then a long time before our food order was taken, finally a long time passed between courses. I ordered the kingfish as one of my starters, I was very disappointed to find that it was full of mushrooms which I do not like. There was no mention of mushrooms in its description on the menu.If there had been I would not have ordered it We did mention this to our waiter who thanked us for the feedback but did not offer anything to make up for this oversight.
Never again
Smelly glasses Expensive nonsense service ok. Petiole lovely but no way. And I eat out but no way. Never again can you make me eat here.
Good food bad service
The place was well-designed and the music was good. The food was delicious but the service was bad. There were many tourists like us around us and we were treated like we didn’t belong there. The service charge was included in the bill but the waiter asked us for more while we were paying. It is such a shame for the owners of that place to have such people work for you when you invested so much in the business. The lady who was at the coat check was very nice and welcoming though. They need to find more people like her.
Fun night!
Great service. Wonderful drinks. Good vibe. Nice atmosphere - we had a fantastic evening out - thank you!
Great atmosphere and food, but tip as well as service?
Had a lovely lunch, wonderful food and attentive staff. But please don't add 15% service charge and then ask me if i want to add a further tip. It'= just makes the customer feel awkward in refusing, particularly when the service has been good. The 15% came to £30. Isn't that enough?! Please stop this irritating practice. No one likes it
Great food, terrible service
Food was sooo good! It’s really unnecessary that waiters are so unorganized and slow that they cannot bring drinks to accompany the food. We had two glasses of wine each (that’s all we had time for as no one managed to come by and ask if we wanted more) to go with 6 different dishes. We saw people next to us sitting with just a glass of water waiting “forever” before they were waited on. Waiters seemed very disorganized and unprofessional. Monday night should call for a more quiet and manageable setting for good service at such a pricey establishment. Cool ambience and great food though. Go if you aren’t starving and ready to sit and wait..and wait. Ps. Make sure you don’t eat too much. Bathrooms are so tiny and doors go inward so you might not be able to get in/out :-)
Wonderful experience!
Contrary to some of the other recent reviews, we had a very enjoyable time when we popped in without a booking and fortunately there was a table available . The service we would say was outstanding , the atmosphere vibey and upbeat . It is quite pricey but that is to be expected in an area such as Mayfair . We particularly enjoyed the desserts, although lamb chops overcooked . 5 tables were celebrating birthdays , and there was plenty of fun and joviality. We certainly didn’t feel as if we were being rushed through the meal .
Our fav restaurant
A repeat visit to our favourite London restaurant to celebrate my wife’s graduation. Exceptional food and service as always. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The cerviches dishes were super fresh and tasty. We always order the arroz nikkei and the bife de ancho. We also had room for two desserts which were also fantastic. We will have to come back again soon to try the other dishes from the menu.
I came with the mindset that I was here for vibes only, and
I came with the mindset that I was here for vibes only, and that the food would be subpar. I was overall impressed, though it may have helped to have low expectations.Live DJ after 7pm and the vibes were spot on - it felt like I had stepped into an underground rainforest with house music in the background. I wish it wasn't so dark though - we sat on a separate floor from the DJ and could barely read the menu, people were even using their phone flash lights to order because it was so dark.Thoughts on food we ordered:- Calamares con Ocopa: the calamari itself was fine, was covered in an interesting green sauce (I couldn't see because it was so dark). It didn't taste bad but not my favorite dish - Atun Chifa ceviche: this was surprisingly good, a very small bowl but reminded me of truffle tuna poke and would order again - Wagyu Bao: my favorite dish! Came with 4 bite-sized Bao buns that were so delicious on the inside and would def order again - Lomo de Res (spicy beef): pretty tasty (almost too salty) but the amount of meat they give you is pretty laughable for a main dish...the portion was smaller than the palms of my hands, and my hands are pretty small. This was 100% not worth the money and made me wish I had eaten before coming to dinner so that I wouldn't be left so hungry after.- Broccolini: this was a side and it turned out bigger than our main beef dish. It was slightly undercooked, but nicely flavored and a good side to even out our main dish For drinks I ordered the Tokyo Fizz, which was super refreshing and had more 'volume' than the other drinks. It didn't seem to have much alcohol though and almost tasted like a mocktail. And lastly for dessert we ordered the Tres de Leche, which also surprised us with a crunchy caramel candy on the outside that was very delicious.Overall, I was disappointed with portions here but had a great, vibey experience.
