The Most Disappointing Dining Experience...
We only had 1.5 days in Milan, and had never been; so we planned some of our culinary experiences based on Giada Delaurentiis's recommended 'must visit' restaurants. Da Giacomo's Milano was one of them, as was their spaghetti alle vongole. The description of the ambiance, food, and service sounded wonderful so we decided to add it to our list for the day. The host was pleasant and welcoming as we walked into the restaurant, and the charming, unique decor was just as we expected. Although the setting exuded elegance, as soon as we were seated, the grandeur of it all disappeared with the arrival of our server. He approached our table as though we were the biggest inconvenience. He then seemed to be more annoyed when we ordered only one course. The spaghetti alle vongole veraci was beautifully presented, delicious, and the ONLY pleasantry of the experience. Regrettably, delays in attending to our needs and lapses in attention to detail marred the dining experience. Despite the culinary offerings showing promise, the subpar service overshadowed our overall enjoyment. As seasoned travelers with a discerning palate, we have had the privilege of dining at numerous esteemed establishments worldwide and have never experienced service like this. In a realm where hospitality should shine brightest in an establishment like this, the service fell disappointingly short of its potential.

It's my second visit to this restaurant 8 years apart first time was 2017. Have to say it is the same & maybe slightly better. The location & view is spectacular. Nice bar , enjoyed their cocktails and then wine. Booking is a must luckily at the terrace overlooking the Dommo. Our waiter was overloaded so was not the best. Food was very good. Price reasonable with the food quality and the location and as a tourist attraction.

The Giacomo restaurant was recommended by a taxi driver and I regret I did not read the reviews before booking. The place is a complete waste of money. Do not go there, there are so much better seafood restaurants in Milano. The food was below average for the ridiculously high prices and it was not of any special quality, preparation or size. The staff was nice but certainly would not recommend the place. The space between the tables is very small and not in line with any normal standards even for a fast food restaurant. The chairs are old and I almost broke my stockings as they kept being stuck in the chair cracks. The ambiance is non existent as it is a run down facility. The prices of drinks are even more ridiculous than the price of the bad food. Plus the crowd was a mix of Russian speaking possibly Ukrainians and other foreign tourists who just were ill advised.

First time in Giacomo and YOU have to go! Itโs beautifully interior with amazing food. Everything I had is to die for especially the Bomba dรฌ giacomo. The service was amazing, very attentive. I will definitely be back again. Staff and Paolo, the manager made me feel welcomed and gave me an amazing experience.

Last night in Milan and was hoping for something more classic and Milanese (previous night at Langosteria), Da Giacomo delivered. Solo travel/dining can be awkward at times but was made comfortable from the moment i walked in. Space is just great architecturally with small bar for aperitvo, high ceilings, soft colors and humble furnishings. Think best 1950's style bistro decor. Staff was welcoming and polite. wait staff was professional and glad to add recommendations on food and wine without being arrogant or pushy. fresh fish brought to the table prior to preparation, shell fish were fresh and entree prepared extremely well (if slightly under-seasoned...) Wine selection was great and enjoyed the waiter's recommendation to pair the food. Looking forward to a return visit and hope to have the same quality service and food

We went to this renowned restaurant in Milan and ate a seabass Giacomo style. I remember being with them 6 years ago but today never go back. Service verybad and quality of food rare.
Be the first to ReplyGot food poisoning and the restaurant blamed me and demanded I go to the hospital to prove it
The food was not bad, but then 6 hours later I had horrible food poisoning. We went to the restaurant as a party 6, and the 2 people who felt bad had both eaten the same lobster and nobody else had. In the evening I called the restaurant to let them know about this situation and it was one of the most unprofessional responses I have ever received. Instead of apologising, the person asked me if I had gone to the hospital and how I could be SURE it was lobster. When I explained the reasoning his manners didn't change. He said that to get a refund I would need to prove that it was a lobster. This topic of refund I had never brought up and was truly offended since I had just called to make sure nobody else experienced the same day I just did. If this is how little they seem to care about making sure that all their food is properly cooked and will not give people this type of reaction, then I would not trust them again. Truly unpleasant experience from a restaurant that positions themselves as being high quality.

My favourite place in Milan ! Just prefect. We had enjoyed our lunch as every time. Tradition, fantastic food, constant perfect quality. No disadvantages at all.
Be the first to ReplyWORST DINING experience in MILAN
We have had a wonderful extended stay in Italy this summer - and this is the WORST DINING EXPERIENCE by far. 1). Service - we had reservations booked through our hotel, but we were met with suspicion the minute we presented to the door. The host had to โcheck with his manager.โ Then our waiter greeted us and then largely ignored us for the remainder of our meal. We typically would order more than on bottle of wine for our party of 5, but we did not have the opportunity because the waiter never came back after our bottle was empty. The air of AGGRESSIVE DISDAIN to this establishment and the amount of ridiculous, pompous strutting that occurs with the manager and staff would be much better served by a lesson in true hospitality and the kindness that is so common in Italian restaurants - but not in Da Giacomo. 2). Environment - LOUD. SO LOUD. Could not hold a usual conversation without shouting over the music and other patrons. 3). BUGS - our table was overwhelmed by multiple mosquitoes during our meal. When we questioned the manager (we were dining inside) - his response was โthey are everywhere this time of year.โ I have yet to go to another restaurant in Milan (inside or out) that had the number of mosquitoes we were literally fighting, and some were just dead on the table. 4). Food - MEH. A tourist trap for sure - so disappointed in our hotel concierge for the recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyMOSQUITOES DEAD on our table and on our plates!
My family and I went to Da Giacomo on the recommendation of our hotel, Hotel Viu Milan. Unfortunately, this recommendation created one of the worst restaurant experiences we had during our entire stay. The staff was judgmental and largely ignored our table, waiting for over 15 minutes between getting our order and remembering to ask if we would like to see the wine list. We hoped to order another bottle of wine after our first and desserts, but due to the lack of attention paid to our table, we were unable to purchase these items. We were placed in an area that was very small but packed with tables, creating an incredibly loud atmosphere that made any conversation impossible. These all would have been fine if not for the mosquitoes that plagued usโthree that died on the table and one on my sisterโs dinner plate. When we told the staff about this issue, they merely said that there were mosquitoes everywhere in Milan. I have dined at many establishments where the mosquitoes were not at all a problem, including at outdoor venues. Overall, we were incredibly disappointed with what could have been a lovely dining experience.

Food was very average. Second bottle of acqua panna water came from the tap. Very hurried service. Definitely a tourist trap in cahoots with the hotels.
Be the first to Reply!Crowded, Loud, the waiter hit me in the head and didn't even apologize
The food was okay nice fish although they didn't bother to clean the bones from it fully, beware not to get choked. The atmosphere is very crowded, no room to move and therefore the waiter hit me in the head when he moves, didn't even apologize, for the price you're taking you should have some manners. Was with my family won't be back for sure.
Be the first to ReplyMouthwatering food, exceptional service and great atmosphere. Can't miss out.
Long overdue review after many years of visiting Da Giacomo whenever my family is in town! Shoutout to manager Paolo for his warmth and hospitality. Food has always been top notch, besides portion can be slightly bigger. I am totally obsessed with their bottarga pasta and pizza appetiser - too good! Also Giacomo runs a cake shop right opposite the restaurant - the mille-feuille cake is exceptional. Can't upload photos due to large file size :/
Be the first to ReplyExtremely loud and incredibly close
Now, Giacomo is a Milanese institution. It has been around for years, it has expanded with a bistro, a patisserie, a cafe, a tobacco place (...?), but this is the original one. The interior design is very art deco and pleasant, and it reminds you straight away of what Giacomo has become: a Milanese living room more than a restaurant, where upscale people chat at an incredible loud volume, where you go dressed to appear. The food is indeed super good, but don't expect to have any possibility at conversation with your friends, you can barely hear the waiter. The service is not up to the food standard, waiters are not very careful in placing the food on the table, different orders come at different times. Still, it's up to you. The food is good, definitely worth it. But...
Be the first to ReplyAMAZING!
my husband and I had dinner at this restaurant a few nights ago. We're not the type to do reviews, but this restaurant really deserves it. The location is unique. Food and service were flawless. The little lobster was amazing. A special thanks, however, goes to the person who made our dinner unique: the restaurant manager Francisco. Never before had anyone taken such good care of us. He really made us feel at home. Thanks also goes to all Giacomo's staff, you are unique. Thank you.
