Great evening in Venice
Amazing night of great food and wine. This is a special place that should be reserved for a special night.

Dama is a family style, Latin American restaurant, located deep in the Fashion District in Downtown Los Angeles. Family style means the dishes are portioned to serve 2-3 people each. I was in a big group and we ordered a significant portion of the menu for our group. But the standouts for me (please note I do not eat fish) were the Ribeye, Rotisserie Chicken, and Crispy Pork Shank. The steak was, of course, cooked to perfection, grilled, supple, tasty, the Rotisserie came with three different sauces for dipping. It was perfectly prepared, juicy, delicious and flavorful, finally, the Crispy Pork Shank was extremely tender mouth watering. I also had the corn on the cob. It was served with

It was our final dinner in LA before heading home and thankfully it was a Sunday night, so we landed at DAMA on my daughter's choosing and it was PERFECT! We did make a reservation, but it wasn't all that busy. The venue is in the weirdly cool fashion district so parking is easy on the street. We may have seen a rat running on the street... but once arriving at the venue we were amazed! It is a beautiful atmosphere with a great vibe. It has many seating options so depending on what you are looking for you could sit at the bar, on couches, outside, in softer lighting or under brighter lights. The menu is full of flavor and options! The waitress was one big smile and very helpful in picking dishes! We ordered about half the menu and it was delicious. EVERY single dish was SPECTACULAR! The flavors were all unique and literally everything was prepared to perfection. We had a couple beverages from the bar and they too were delicious. We also saved room for dessert and so glad we did! Thank you DAMA for a wonderful night. We had so much fun that my daughter cried at the end of dinner!!
Be the first to ReplyAtmosphere: very nice trendy, nice patio. Service: good. Food: great!
We were a party of 3, with 8:30 RESY reservations. Upon arrival to this Latin American restaurant, we were greeted and seated at an outdoor patio table which was very nice. The restaurant was quit full. The atmosphere was very nice. Our server Nicole was good though she could of been a little more attentive, understanding it seemed she had a lot of tables to serve. We ordered cocktails which were excellent: the Sierra Norte, Sandia Mezcal and my favorite the Latin Lover. We decided to order all "Small Plates" so we could have a tasting party. Plates were the Lamb Chops, Aguachile, Empanada, Clam Toast, Fried Calamari and Bone Marrow. Our tasting was a success, all the dishes were great. My only comment is, if you are dining on a budget it is easy to rack up a pretty hefty bill with the cost of these small plates and cocktails. Well worth it for a fun evening Atmosphere: very nice trendy, nice patio. Service: good. Food: great!

Be the first to ReplyMy second visit to Dama,
My second visit to Dama, this time early 6:30pm on a Friday. The music and groups hanging out by the bar give the room a nice buzz and tempo. Staff is excellent and was quick to decant the wine we brought for dinner.
Octopus chopped charred and light dressing very good
Crispy potatoes great dairy free dish with big flavors and fresh herbs.
Guacamole expensive and just ok
Bread and tomatoes use this dish to fight off colds with excellent raw sliced garlic and crispy bread.
Aguachile no flavor, but refreshing. Don’t recommend this one.
Squash blossoms perfect light starter if you want something fried.
Whole seabass not the best but decent share main course for 4 people. Lots of fresh herbs make the dish.
Overall Dama is perfect for a night out with a group, couples or business. I hope the spring menu brings back the over the top creative flavors they had last year.
Valet Parking $10 Corkage $35
A Memorable Birthday Meal
Relaxing atmosphere with attentive service. Interesting menu with "tapas like" items you order and share as they are brought to the table.

We had a lovely meal of shared small plates. (I recommend the seafood tacos, especially. But everything was very tasty!)
Dining at Dama, you could easily imagine that you’re in Old Havana. Their wrap-around deck is perfect for enjoying a lovely summer evening. And the wine list was very impressive, as was our server’s knowledge of the various offerings on it.
Perfect for any occasion
What a hidden gem! I felt like I stepped into Havana nights. The restaurant is very visually appealing. From the moment I arrived the service was great, everyone was so friendly. The food and drinks were delicious. Will be back!

Dama is killing it. First, the bar is beautiful. The staff is so friendly and everyone is smiling all the time. Oh, and the food? Outrageously delicious. Don’t forget the cocktails and the local brews. We can’t wait to go back!

So many thanks for this recommendation from our hotel concierge. It is now a new favorite and members of my dining party returned the next night. Delicious cocktails. Wonderful atmosphere on the patio. Tapas style food was exceptional. Try the delicious stuffed squash blossoms, crispy potatoes, and corn. And the churros for dessert!
Be the first to ReplyA different take on Latin food. Amazing experience.
The ambiance is a very open space with a lot of character. The service was very attentive but not intrusive. The food was a culinary delight. We started with the bread. This is not any ordinary bread and butter or olive oil. It was more like a bruschetta but not a bruschetta. It had a perfect balance of flavors. The Guacamole was one of the best I have had. The whipped beans was a dish I have never had before. We all devoured it. The crispy squash flowers was another unusual dish. It had so much going on, When you bite into it flavors just burst in your mouth. I could eat this all night long. The oxtail tacos were finger licking good. They came with 3 sauces on the side. The piece-de-resistance the crispy pork shank. The meat just falls off the bone and it come with lettuce cups and corn tortillas. In one word, scrumptious!! The Churros came with a arequipe dipping sauce. The churros were light and airy. The sauce was just delicious. I can't wait to return and try some other dishes.

In LA on business staying at the JW downtown. Reached out to my business partner’s brother for a good restaurant suggestion. He made reservations at Dama. Being the foodie that he is I expected to be pretty good.
What we got was nothing short of
Epic!
The menu was exceptional with really creative dishes all based on a Latin flair. We had everything from guacamole to softshell crab, to lollipops to an awesome chicken dish as well as a dish with fresh seafood made similar to ceviche where they use the lime juice to cook the seafood.
We were there with a friend of mine who is the vice president of culinary for a chain called Café Rio. Doug was exceptionally impressed as we all were with the menu, the knowledge of the staff, the space and the variety and flavor combinations that they built. As you guys know I’ve eaten in over 40 different countries, hundreds of restaurants and I will tell you this is one of the very best experiences overall I have ever had.
Chef was not in town as she was in Spain with Jose Andreas one of the most famous Latin chefs in the world. Can’t wait to go back and meet her next time I’m in town, shake her hand and tell her she is doing amazing things. Just wish Dianna would’ve been here with me to enjoy these flavors.
