It has been a long time since the Mrs.
and I spent the entire day in town, enjoying the city and doing a little shopping. Location wise, Davio's is conveniently located within walking distance from all the shopping on Newbury Street, and from the Prudential Center.Additionally, once the weather gets warmer, it's perfect walking distance to Boston public gardens. (Great way to walk off all the guilty pleasures of desert). Beyond a delicious meal, their service was second to none. From the moment, my wife and I stepped into the restaurant, we were treated as though we were VIP. The host was very kind and asked if he could take our jackets, which was nice to sit in our chairs without having our jackets getting in the way. Although we did not have a reservation, we did not have to wait long for a seat that day, and the bar was a great place to wait and have a drink. Love the popovers that they served before our meals. They were hot and chewy that we had to ask for another basket to enjoy. When our meal came, it looked like art. It was so beautiful. Beyond the fantastic appearance, each dish was amazing. The clam chowder and lobster bisque was sweet and creamy, with strong flavors of clam and lobster in each respective dish. We shared the Meatball, which we later found out that it's made from a special mix of veal and Kobe beef. The soft texture and flavor packed in this dish is something worth trying. Definitely I great place to come when in town. We will be back again soon.

I so enjoyed this restaurant during a business dinner that I decided to bring my other half with me for dine out. It was one of my favorites and now I'm telling others to go. The popover is such a nice start!

I can't say I was in love with my cocktail choices but all the food options were absolutely delicious. It has been awhile since I have paid this much money for a meal but actually felt it was worth it. Steak was super tinder with a nice sear, lobster risotto had good size chunks in each bite, and the ravioli sauce was rich and creamy. All delicious.
Be the first to ReplyDavio's is decent.
It's a place for people who live in the suburbs, or non-foodie tourists who want a reliable steak or decent Italian meal in a quasi-upscale environment. Fresh pasta and gluten free menu is a plus. This is one of the few restaurants within a short walk to the theater district - that was my motivation, and I think they are capitalizing on that. Some items are a hit or miss. My pasta was excellent but I would pass on the Doli martini (unfortunately). Also, they serve popovers as their bread.....which is not my favorite option to go with pasta.....but they were good.
Be the first to ReplyFrom start to finish the experience was great.
a spacious, illuminated place, with a wonderful central bar. We ordered two different types of pasta, both delicious, the service was great, as was the dessert offering, it was a great place to go, and although we went for my wife's birthday, we will return whenever we are around. Finally I must recommend the house beer, excellent flavor and balance!

This was my go to restaurant for filet mignon, went today for lunch, hardly anyone in there and it was so disappointing, steaks were chewy and not cooked how they were ordered, sadly won't be back!
Be the first to ReplyNice Italian restaurant in Boston.
Came here to celebrate a dear friend's birthday! This place is her fave restaurant in Boston. The bread is so yummy especially when it's right out of the oven!!! The food was delicious and flavorful too! Our server was attentive and did something special for our friend's birthday! What a great touch!! I would definitely come back to try other menu items.
Be the first to ReplyWe went there for Valentines pre fixed menu last night.
We have been here many times and expect the quality we pay for and they are famous for. Our waitress was attentive and ambiance was okay. I ordered lobster as my entree and it was missing claw meat and the crabmeat stuffing was imitation. I was shocked at this. It was filled with so much butter instead of lobster. The manager came by and joked it off and never rechecked to see if I received my claws. My husband got the steak and said it was good. I understand a pre fixed menu but there was one minute between courses which did not even give us time to digest. This was a 400 meal that was disappointing.
Be the first to ReplyI can't say enough good about Davio's restaurant.
We sat at the "kitchen/bar" where we could watch all the impressive activity going on. The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance great. Not to forget the yummy pop-overs. As for the service, Zeke (the Manager), as usual, was helpful and very pleasant, our waiter, Craig and Rudolpho, were great too and in spite of all the orders and cooking and activity going on, getting one's food was very fast and efficient. and the staff organized to a tee....Cannot recommend or praise this great restaurant enough.
Be the first to ReplyStopped here for dinner with a friend before seeing a show.
Service was friendly and attentive. The popovers are always scrumptious and the perfect way to start a meal. They had a holiday drink menu which was creative, I had the Christmas margarita which was very strong. We shared the chicken parm spring rolls to start which were absolute perfection. For my entree, I had the ricotta limoncello tortelloni. They accidentally brought out a half order of my pasta (pictured below) and brought me a second portion without charging me (and only making me pay for the half portion). It's an expensive restaurant, but the quality of the food, ambiance, and service definitely makes it worth it.?

With 4:30p reservations This might be my 20th time at the Davio's chain. It ranks HIGH on my list of favorites. Please come here for an excellent diner. I learned alot tonite. Let me share. In this specific location, I was sat at what I'll call one of the 4 "limbo" booths. Walking in the venue they are to the right of the bar. They're disguised as restaurant tables - and they are- but my server is the bartender. When I sat at 4:30, said bartender was attentive. Now that dinner is over, there are roughly 35 people at the bar and I now feel ignored. Do NOT accept a table there!! After dinner, I had to ask a passing server for the Davio's signature popovers. Appetizer plates were never removed. Crumbs on the table were never cleaned (I believe this is a Davio's signature touch). I had to approach the host stand to ask to be served dessert. The food was-of course- absolutely delicious and Davio's gets 5 stars for its quality. The server- while I feel was (rightfully so) focused on her bar patrons- was very pleasant. The manager or lead was also very apologetic.

Davio's offers, upscale Italian dining, in the heart of Boston proper, it's affluent Back Bay. It's close enough to the theater district to catch a meal before your show. Sadly, on the day we came for lunch, the service was very, very, very slow... Even though the place was empty. It took a half an hour for us to get our check, after we asked for it, and my friend was late for her doctors appointment. My friend dines there often, and claims this was atypical. I can only review my experience. I ordered the gluten-free pizza, and was pleasantly surprised to find it was pretty good. Keep your expectations realistic. The crust is gluten-free, and not gonna taste like Italian bread. But, it did taste like a chewy pastry bread. THE DEAL: if you're looking for some of the best gluten-free pizza in Boston, it might be at Davio's!

Been coming to Davio's since 2016 when our son started college. Every visit to Boston meant a dinner there. Davio's had also become a day-after-Thansgiving tradition.THIS Friday after Thanksgiving, we had the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. Upon arrival, the host could not find our reservation. Half of our party was already seated, but the hostess kept looking at the computer screen saying, "NO reservation." At that point my sister, who just finished chemo, goes walking around the large space, cane in hand and finally finds the rest of our party. I then said to the hostess, "That was ridiculous and rude. Just shaking your head no for 10 minutes. What an awful way to handle that." I did not raise my voice. As soon as we were seated, the manager on duty, STEVE, came over to our table sweating and ranting, saying I upset the hostess. He just kept reprimanding me, embarrassing me while I said nothing. My husband said, "She didn't raise her voice or do anything wrong. She just spoke sternly." The manager, STEVE walked away, then came back and insisted we leave the restaurant. 6 people. 7:30pm. The Friday after Thanskgiving. One person in our party wearing a chemo headscarf. Thank goodness my cousin, who lives in Weston has connections and got us a wonderful table at beautiful Mistral (Our new tradition.)
Be the first to ReplyFood was pretty good but nothing special.
The starter bread was amazing. We then had the calamari which was really good. Pastas weren't that great except for the lobster risotto. Cheesecake was really good as well. The only dishes I thought they did well were the seafood ones.

Amazing service, aamzing food and a great vibe. Check it out and you will not be disappointed.
Be the first to ReplySolid steakhouse.
I wasn't blown away with anything but the meat was good and there were some solid, fun appetizers. The desserts were yummy as well. Left being really full which is a good sign.Came with a large group and we ordered a wide selection for the whole table. For starters we tried the meatballs, three kinds of the spring rolls(chicken parm, buffalo chicken, and cheesesteak), fried shishitos, spinach salad, bolognese w penne. I didn't love the meatballs or the bolognese. The penne was well-cooked and had a great chew but didn't think either had particularly strong or great flavor. The meatball was also a bit too mushy. The spring rolls were good but I wasn't super impressed. I'm not sure having it as spring rolls added to the dish so felt a bit gimmicky. For the mains we had filet, rib eye, and veal. These came with caramel used onions, corn, Mac and cheese, and fries. The corn was really good and so was the Mac and cheese. I love fat so the rib eye was my faborite. The veal was a standout just because I normally wouldn't notice it. The seasoning was very basic but that's all you need for steak. Super good with the onions. The service was okay. Took a while for them to take our order especially since the restaurant wasn't crazy busy. Solid steakhouse nothing incredible or standout.

Very nice restaurant recommended by the concierge at our hotel. Went inside and had the most professional and knowledgeable waiter I have ever experienced anywhere. He suggested a steak and a half order of pasta and he was right the steaks are decadent and the pasta is phenomenal. The dessert selection was outstanding and the apple streusel was good, next time I am trying the Tiramisu

We have been to Davio's in Boston and the one near the stadium as well. This one is the worst in terms of the big three: ambiance, service and food. But the worst is still three stars - making it an above average experience. The decor is nice, white tablecloths, good cutlery and great lighting plus the popovers are no doubt.I have never been to this location and it being a vibrant "scene" so if you want a quiet dinner this will work. The night we were there are server was a disappointment, not really promoting the restaurant or being excited or promoting anything - fortunately the group of 6 are all foodies and know our way around the menu, cocktails and wine bottles- as the server was just that a server- not a good representation of the establishment and offerings- which actually was awkward.
Be the first to ReplyWent to Davios with the family.
.. Food was a 5 as my wife and I had steak, the kids had pasta... ceasar salad was excellent and the truffle fries.. and grilled corn were excellent as sides. Nice ambience, good vibe in the restaurant. Service- the waiter was very good but here is why Davios is not getting a 5... our reservation was at 7:30 and we did not sit until 7:55..we didn't order our food until 8:45. In addition, the table was the size of a postage stamp and where we were sitting the tables were on top of each other... sometimes you roll the dice when you eat on Friday and Saturday nights... Food was pretty darn good though and the popovers were excellent...

Rare is the occasion I enjoy spending $8 on a singular spring roll but will gladly do always at Davio's. Drinks, apps, entrees were all spot on tonight.

I have been coming to Davio's since Flash's was across the street and had an after hours dance club upstairs there. Back when Flemings was around corner. Now If I sit at bar and notice bill still present from previous customer one would assume it has not been cleaned yet so when I ask the barback to wipe it down , dumbfounded that you tell me with a look 'I just wiped it down" I get it staff shortages ?? but sure twice is nice so do it. Also the menu has some miles on it as it was wet before dry now its paper after all ...Finally now I am approached by bartender ,would you like a drink ?? Well how about a menu as I am not at McDonalds although this place has become similar to a Cheesecake Factory in its service !!! I should not have to do your jobs as I am the customer??Food was ok consistent always .. Also when I am sitting eating its not best Idea to blast ya spray bottle spraying next to me eating then do otherside next to her purse and food. Try spraying into rag I mean who is training the staff... Well I guess if I do dine will be going to Seaport location next time or Chestnut Hill as it maybe a better night out !! Obviously management is lacking or slacking....
Be the first to ReplyCame to Boston for a show at the Emerson Colonial theater
Came to Boston for a show at the Emerson Colonial theater and walked 7 min to Davio's for dinner after the show. We had 4 tween/teenagers (11-15 yo) and 4 adults. They accommodated our party of 8 and provided excellent service. Warm popovers were a hit with everyone and the best I've had in New England. Everyone enjoyed their dishes- rigatoni with sausage, shrimp tagliatelle, tortellini, scallops with risotto. For dessert we had the panna cotta, cannoli, and a chocolate cake. Expensive but great place for a family to enjoy dinner on a special occasion. All your pickiest eaters and discriminating foodies will find something to enjoy.

Tonight I went to Davio's Back Bay for an early-evening solo dinner. I placed an order for drinks and a meal consisting of free-range chicken, french fries, and spinach. The drinks arrived promptly, and the food was served after an appropriate amount of time. The chicken and spinach were acceptable, but the fries were soggy and not too warm. I had to speak to both a busboy and a hostess before my server finally appeared. By then I was almost done eating the chicken and spinach. The server apologized and said that she was serving a function that was taking place in the restaurant that night. She then brought a fresh batch of fries. It wasn't clear if the problem originated with the server or with management for spreading the staff too thin. Either way, it was an unpleasant experience. I'm not going back to Davio's.
Be the first to ReplyGot the oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer.
It was OK but I don't recommend. It's basically an oyster covered in a rich topping (which I'm assuming contains cheese and butter). You can't really taste the flesh of the oyster. Plus for service though. They missed my order and gave me a crab cake while I was waiting. The crab cake was pretty good. The steak was standard and tasty with no complaints or super impressionable. The steak came with blue cheese mashed potatoes. The blue cheese in the mashed potatoes honestly was not bad considering I don't like blue cheese, but its smell and taste definitely overpowered the mashed potatoes. The vanilla bean panna cotta for dessert was probably my favorite part of the meal.
Be the first to ReplyThis was my first time dining at Davio's.
We came for restaurant week so we ordered 3 courses for a set price. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and I would come back again. I thought both the food and service were good and I enjoyed the atmosphere. My only cons were that it took ~40 minutes to get a drink and the dinning room was pretty loud, making it hard to hear. Now onto the food - let's start with the popovers. So fun! I had no idea they did these instead of bread and they were AMAZING! I could go back just for the popovers. Then for our restaurant week selections, the appetizers (an iceberg salad and a lentil soup) were both ok, but I would not order again (however, I did dip the popovers in the soup and that was yummy!). The main courses we had (the chicken with risotto, and the saffron pasta with shrimp) were both delightful and I would highly recommend. We finished off with blueberry crumble and strawberry shortcake. Both were great!
