A Memorable Lunch
My wife and I savored our lunch at De Kas. The friendly staff made us feel welcome and the greenhouse setting charmed us. Simply being at De Kas felt exciting. The meal started off strong, with hearty rye bread and whipped brown butter, a wonderous gazpacho and a tremendous celery root puree with crispy tapioca sheets. Most of the subsequent dishes--mushrooms, scallops, veggie spring rolls-- were merely good and the bland whole radish disappointed. The parfait with praline ice cream impressed, though. We enjoyed lingering in the sunlight-filled dining area and would definitely return to De Kas!
Beautiful Evening
We visited De Kas on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant were kind enough to accommodate us on the Saturday when our airline changed our flights at the last minute. The service was impeccable, food was out of this world and setting was magical. We have bought their cook book so we can recreate some of the amazing cooking at home. Can't wait to visit again. De Kas offers a truly special dining experience in a stunning greenhouse setting. The atmosphere is calm, elegant, and full of charm. Our host Rachel made the evening even more enjoyable with her warm and attentive service. The menu was a celebration of fresh, seasonal vegetables—beautifully presented and full of flavor. Highlights included the tomato consommé, a vibrant beetroot dish, and a selection of excellent local wines. They catered wonderfully to my vegetarian wife, with thoughtful and satisfying options throughout. Highly recommended for anyone looking for creative cuisine in a beautiful, relaxed setting.

Tucked away in the park, De Kas boasts "harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon" on their website. It's truly a farm to table experience, where you walk into the restaurant through their greenhouse (and you can walk through it as well). We did the 6 course menu, but there was a starter soup and bread so more around 9ish? It was a long meal, being over 3 hours so the timing was a little slow between courses. To start, the cold clarified tomato soup was incredible! I still think about that soup often. It doesn't looks like much but it was packed with flavor and so refreshing for summer. The spreads for the bread and crisps were veggie based, and nicely spreadable. The rest of the courses were beautifully plated with editable flowers and herb garnishes. Some better than others, but everything more earthy taste, not heavy at all. Desserts were not my favorite, on the tangy side, but the sherbet still refreshing. My only comment is to make sure you're explicitly asking questions and clarifications. Could just be us not as accustomed to Euro culture so it's always good to check. Celebrating my bachelorette and the server goes 'can we get you a glass of champagne which I say yes obviously! I assumed it was complimentary but then she opened up a bottle and starting pouring for everyone but some were pregnant, some not drinking, so it seemed a bit off and we had to explain we didn't want the bottle, which made them act a little off putting. The price or the kind of champagne wasn't discussed before opening it so that was a weird miscommunication start to the meal. We had to explicitly ask these questions to our server.

A restaurant since 2001, with nearly 300 varieties of Vegetables, Herbs and Fruit grown on site the rest comes from their field just north such that a motto of "Harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon" carries weight. Toqued by Wim de Beer and Jos Timmer, the kitchen in full view, lunch begins with a refreshing Amuse followed by small bites, the Strawberry Lettuce Wrap vibrant and delicious while Bread and Tapioca Crisps each garner their own unique Condiment. Working with limited Proteins, Brandade made from line-caught Fish forming a bed beneath a generously breaded Squash Blossom, an entree of Mushrooms and Asparagus proved dynamic without seeming forced thanks to Chicken Soup that accentuated nature with finesse. Awarded one star by Michelin, plus a Green Star for obvious reasons, Dessert comprises one or two servings depending on hunger and can range from Goat Cheese Mousse with Melon to this day's Tarragon Panna Cotta with Hazelnut Cake and Raspberry Sorbet.

Can’t miss Restaurant! Book early!
This is an absolute Must Do! We were in Amsterdam last year and was recommended this Restaurant. It was by far the best and most delicious meal we’ve ever had. It is Farm to Table so dishes came out looking nice but had NO idea what to expect until we took a bite. It was “mind blowing” Unexpectedly DELICIOUS! We went back this year and made reservations for lunch at the beginning of our trip and dinner at the end of our trip. Again, mind blowing incredible! The atmosphere, service and wines were wonderful too!

Each plate was thoughtful and made a unique use of fresh, local produce. This was definitely an experience rather than a simple meal. I recommend that everyone come here at least once in their life.

Was a little bit of a trip to get here but was an incredible dinner. Heard it was kind of difficult to get a reservation so I was glad we were able to get one last minute. Restaurant is located inside a beautiful green house where they grow some of the herbs used in the dishes, a real farm to table experience. Focus is veggies, but we did get a meat and fish course as well. The food was so unique and flavorful, my boyfriend doesn't particularly love mushrooms and thoroughly enjoyed one of the mushroom dishes. The service here is just as great as the food. It was a truly memorable experience.

Truly the best restaurant I visited in 2024! Everything was spectacular and so so fresh. It's a gorgeous atmosphere and the staff is so helpful. The only option seems to be a pre fixe menu - but deff try their add ons too! The steak tartar oyster blew my mind.

To say it was an amazing lunch experience is an understatement. We biked to the park, in true Amsterdam fashion, and found the greenhouse that the restaurant is located inside of fairly easily. The architecture is beautiful, and you truly feel like the food was grown and harvested steps away from the table. We were seated when our entire party arrived, and the service was attentive but also let us savor and enjoy our food - not overbearing in the slightest and highly accommodating to all requests. We were only able to snag a reservation for lunch - reservations go fast so make sure you check far in advance for openings, especially for dinner. Each course came out in a timely manner and every dish was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. Great price and value for a restaurant with a Michelin Star. I would recommend De Kas to anyone in Amsterdam looking for a highly unique, plant-based, fine dining experience. I will absolutely be returning next time I'm in town!

Setting in a park w a large greenhouse attached. That is how local it is! Amuse bouche of gazpacho and celery butter w house made crisps. Appetizer of pork belly w celery rot and slices of truffle. Incredible. Toast beet salad w radicchio and beet purée. Enoki mushrooms were delicious. Main was mackerel. Dessert was goat cheese mousse and second dessert mandarin sorbet w cardamom bookie.

Fine restaurant but NOT even one Michelin Star, insulting to even suggest! Service and wine were great - food, nothing special! Certainly would never pay +€300 for vegetables that tasted ok at best.
Best Meal 3 Weeks in Europe
This is our culinary touchstone in Amsterdam. De Kas is in a lovely park just outside of the city center but in an interesting neighborhood nonetheless. They have two greenhouses wherein they grow all of their produce, one smaller one adjacent to the restaurant and another offsite. This was one of the original "farm-to-table" establishments and we have been coming here for 20 years. De Kas NEVER disappoints. Service, ambiance, and especially the quality of the food are all 100% spot on. Sourdough bread and tapioca bread wonderful starters. Fresh radishes and tempura asparagus were our amuse-bouches. This was followed by the brightest, freshest gaspacho ever. I mean ever. Haddock the next course-sublime. Interestingly ( and it worked ) white asparagus was our main. We understand why white asparagus is so celebrated in northern Europe in the spring. No room for dessert, but it looked over the top. I believe it was a pound cake with fresh berries. These nice people know what they are doing. Special mential to our server Sharon. Lovely in every way. Three weeks in Europe-including two in Italy- this was by far our best meal.

We joined the waitlist the day before and two hours before lunch we got a call saying they had room for us. The ambiance was wonderful and the appetizers were phenomenal. The food was so fresh and the flavors were incredible. Servers were friendly and experts about the cuisine they were serving.

We loved our lunch at De Kas. It's a stunning setting where plant-based dining and small-scale farming take center stage. Each dish was tasty and memorable, and the service was on point. We had several great meals in Amsterdam, but De Kas stands out as the most outstanding.

The food comes from the greenhouse or locally sourced otherwise. We had the set course dinner around sunset so it was beautiful through the glass windows. The food was great! It was € 79 / person and we left so full. it's a great deal for a Michelin star restaurant

I am from Los Angeles visiting and had some wonderful foods at De Kas. The service and the food is amazingly delicious. I definitely recommend this place. The staff and the service is top notch.
BEST MEAL IVE EVER HAD!!!! The food is mind-blowing.
They grow their own veggies and use them in ways that are just incredible. They start you with three different plates before you even get to the tasting menu all of which was incredible. Everyone working there seemed to truly love it and sharing their love with the customers. The restaurant is in an old greenhouse and it creates the most amazing vibes. So much natural light, lots of indoor plants, just incredible. After we finished our meal, we put our names on the waitlist for every day until we left Amsterdam. Did not get in again but that's how good it was.

Our dining experience was on point! The food? Totally delicious (lots of sauces - and I love sauces), and they nailed the customization - one gluten-free and one pescatarian. The second dining room (the one in the tent) wasn't as ideal as the main dining room (and a bit cold in winter!), but the overall vibe was pretty great. Now, let's talk about Freya, our server - she was the real star. Super knowledgeable, super chill, and she made us feel right at home (if your home had a fine dining greenhouse restaurant in it). It was really a memorable adventure (read: a long evening -- because Freya checked:"do you have anywhere to go?" and made our dessert courses last a bit longer ;) Fun!
Absolute Perfection!
Absolute perfection - we were all bowled over with the entire experience. A novel setting, top notch staff, and every bite of food was a marvel. We especially appreciated the vegetable-forward menu. While most of us our party are meat eaters, we find that too many restaurants have a strong dependence on meat. We relish the opportunity to eat vegetables prepared and presented in such a creative manner. Hooray for De Kas! Also - recommend buying the cookbook and taking it home for inspiration and some genuinely approachable recipes.
De Kas or "The Greenhouse" is located at Frankendael Park.
Vegetables are the main feature. At their greenhouse and gardens, they grow a large variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruits. The restaurant has a Michelin star and a green Michelin star. We made reservations and arrived a little before noon when they opened. We walked around the greenhouse while we waited. There are two main dining areas and we sat where it mimics a greenhouse- lots of sunlight. It's a fixed menu of either 3 courses (€ 50) or 4 courses (€ 59) with dessert. As a preface, I don't know/ remember all the ingredients in each dish. There were some ingredients that I've never even heard of before as well. To start, we were given some appetizers- quinoa crisp with pea dip, radicchio with poppyseed & mustard, red cabbage spring rolls, and fried kale. We also ordered oysters which is additional. I preferred the oyster with violet vinegar and lemon over the oyster with steak tartare and parsley cream. The first course was beets with oyster leaves and radish. The oyster leaves actually taste like oysters! The second course was celeriac topped with greens and apples. To finish it off, they shave truffle on top tableside. The third course was squid cut like noodles that was topped with foam. Lastly, for dessert it was ice cream atop puffed grains and topped with foam. We were also given a scoop of chocolate gelato to end the meal. Make sure you allot enough time to dine here as it was about a 2 hour lunch. I enjoyed the meal and experience as a whole. But, TBH none of the dishes stood out as something I need to have more of. The exception is the oyster leaf itself, which is something that left a lasting impression on me.

My husband and I both are meat eaters and our two friends we dined with were vegan (I emailed the restaurant ahead of time to let them know). We did the five tasting menu and the whole staff seamlessly was able to bring our dishes where the vegan dishes were as similar to the non-vegan dishes + made sure the correct people got the right food. The entire restaurant is beautiful on the inside and outside. You feel like you're sitting in an elevated greenhouse! I recommend walking in their gardens if you get a chance after dinner. Everything we ate was from their garden and it all tasted so fresh. The beets, the mushrooms, the turnips, chicken, asparagus, the yogurt, etc. I was just blown away by the quality of food! Make a reservation here because you will not regret it.

Unexpected flavors turned up around every corner and I came away with a newfound respect for plants and the freshness of the ingredients served at De Kas. Impeccable service and an experience of a lifetime.

Beautiful place in a green house type vibe but really big and a lot of airy rooms and natural light. Really delicious food as well. Good for special occasions and also fine to bring children as there is a huge play area outside of the restaurant and lots of families! But we also went for a brunch once without kids and it was really nice. Good wine selections.

The food was amazing and the service was incredible. Just be aware they will charge you for tap water... which I wish they told u ahead of time. Otherwise it's awesome.

DeKas is a truly unique restaurant.
The setting in literally in a large greenhouse, where many of the vegetables served in the restaurant are grown. The food is a fixed menu that changes daily, depending on what is fresh and local that day. Every course was amazing (see pictures), from the first bite to the last! The table service was very professional, and they give you just the right amount of attention. We found out only after we ate that they have a Michelin star, which is well deserved. We also toured the greenhouses and saw som many fruits and vegetables being grown. They also have a larger greenhouse not far away where the remainder of their fresh vegetables are grown. This is a one-of-a-kind restaurant and is not to be missed.
Not worth the trouble
Nice dining room. Food okay. Fresh garden ingredients. But 3 snacks at the beginning all used a form of mayonnaise type sauce. Also too much use of foam, that added nothing to the dish. Set menu, no choices. The worst is it is not a well run restaurant. The front desk person didn’t seem to know if our table was ready for a 7pm reservation in a room over half empty. A young woman was our main server and very nice and knowledgeable. But a young man who served our wine was just arrogant. Made fun of my wine knowledge, when I got a little confused about the origin of our choice. No friendliness just a kind of superiority. Who is managing this room, most handled by very young people? The place just didn’t add up to it reputation. Not worth the ride out of the center.

Every time I return, I face the same hospitality, perfect service and atmosphere. We had two full sets with accompanying Dutch oysters and wine. Perfect. Definitely a spot to visit, totally recommend.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Each course was delicious and the presentation was stunning. I was amazed at the variety of flavors an originality of each dish. The staff was friendly and accommodating. If you want a wonderful dining experience in Amsterdam head to this fabulous restaurant.
Incredible experience and food
There's really not much to think about here: the service was incredible, the location beautiful and atmospheric, and the food was some of the best and most nuanced flavours I've tasted. Obviously you need to be ok with not choosing what you're going to eat as it is a set menu, so not the best for picky eaters. Luckily, neither of us is, and we both agreed it was some of the best food we'd had. Every single one of the five courses was a hit! I'd also argue that although it is on the more expensive side (compared to a main meal at any old random mid-price restaurant), the value for money is really there. For everything you get and how incredible it all is, it definitely feels like a fair price. I've had less good meals for much more expensive.
Easily the best food I've ever eaten
Absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. Very polite and helpful staff, each dish was explained in full and intolerences were well catered for. They asked us if there were any other preferences before they brought the first dish and my friend dislikes seafood so they were able to adapt their dish just for her taste. So clever, well thought out and growing their produce on site where you can see it from your table is a nice touch. Every dish was full of flavour and they just kept on coming! Well worth the money, would go back in a heartbeat.
Great place for non meat eaters
A beautiful restaurant on the edge of a park set in several rooms in huge conservatory/ greenhouse. You can see some of the produce you eat being grown on site. Most of the tasting menu was vegetarian so ideal for non meat eaters who are often not catered ideally in Michelin star restaurants. Personally I enjoyed the first few dishes of various styles of vegetables enormously but after a while I felt something was missing from my meal. Great concept and atmosphere.
An interesting and unique sustainable concept
I have huge appreciation for the sustainability approach being taken here and the skill in putting together these ingredients. These were paired nicely with good value wines by the glass. The setting and lighting is beautiful from the inside and out and the restaurant has a lively atmosphere. I think the depth of flavour on the dishes has some room for improvement

My partner and I went to De Kas as a Valentine’s Day treat whilst visiting Amsterdam and absolutely loved it! Great experience, lovely and attentive staff, and amazing vegan options! Definitely recommend for a special date night.
This place always is on my mind since I have been.
I even ended up buying their cookbook. This place is tucked away in a little park and upon arriving you see their greenhouse on the left. The dining area is open with the kitchen on the left when walking in where you can see all the action as it is an open kitchen concept. The food here is unbelievably fresh as they grow their own vegetables/fruits and pick all their ingredients the morning of. It is a set menu, but I assure you... you will love EVERYTHING. There are lots of veggies in it, but everything is so bold and flavorful you forget you're eating mostly vegetables. They also have a palate cleanser that is a celery purée with a crisp. The service is typical as they made sure water was always filled and was attentive. Nothing over the top, but you're not being neglected either.

You must now be reading this as you are writing your own 5 star review for what has to be one of the most beautiful, well crafted and accommodating restaurants ever. One Michelin Star does not do this place justice.De Kas basically takes the Alice Waters/California Cuisine/Farm To Table concept and takes it to the next level. 20% of all the food they serve is grown in the greenhouse that that restaurant is in or at their larger sister greenhouse facility. The restaurant is actually in a park and its grounds feel like a greenhouse in nature. There is huge open-ish kitchen and multiple dining areas that give different vibes. We sat in the large expansive main dining area and it has two story tall glass ceilings with relatively minimalist decor that still manages to feel warm and cozy. The tables are spaced widely apart so that you can have a normal conversation even with a full house. You can choose to take a break at any point in the meal that you'd like to go look at the actual food growing in the greenhouse. The service here is as tight and solid as any 3 star-Michelin, but done so with a relaxed ease that I would personally prefer for any restaurant I go to. They will never get more stars because it doesn't fit into the classic fine dining box, which we thought was great. Why not have a stand with all your utensils stacked for each course and you just take them yourself each course? Its genius.The food here is INSANE. I don't mean insane service or presentation, but the insanity is in how novel, complex and delicious it was, even though the heart of each dish was its freshness and simplicity. The menu changes weekly, let me say that again - WEEKLY! So I guess there is no point in going into detail about each dish. You can opt for 5 or 6 dish menus for 63 or 71 Euros (!!!!). The small bites at the start of the meal just blew our minds that we would have been happy if that was all we had. But then they brought out some of the best country bread we've ever had (we almost never ask for more bread, but we asked for more twice even though we were getting stuffed), of course served with generous dollops of house made butter. Two of the dishes we had were just OK (mushroom and veal plates) - they were a bit heavy on acid and seemed to lack an identity, but the rest was divine. Who would think that tomato, grapefruit, burrata and saffron would just work together as if it were the most obvious combination on earth? The thing that crushed it for me was the dessert of Jasmine, Fig, Orange and Brioche, which really was ice cream, fruit on a light bread pudding but somehow unlike anything I've tasted before and was one of the best desserts I've ever had. Hubby can't eat milk or cream and we have never been to any fine dining restaurant that managed to accommodate this restriction as religiously or execute it as well as they did. On multiple occasions we were so paranoid and had to ask if the substitution ingredients really were dairy free because they tasted too freaking good. This restaurant is very sensitive to dietary restrictions and does not sweat anything, so you can go there with confidence that you won't feel like death afterwards. For 150 Euros or less, depending on what you are eating or drinking, you can have a truly delicous meal that will make you wonder "its so simple yet, how did they do that?". If I lived in Amsterdam, I'd be a regular here - we're definitely taking an extended layover just to eat here next time we transit through Schiphol, it is worth the effort.
I came here on my birthday and my first day in Amsterdam.
After a missed flight I practically had to sprint there to make my reservation, and I am SO happy I did. Every single bite was incredible. I ate foods I would never normally order and I enjoyed every single dish. I tried to take photos of each course, as they were artfully prepared. However, with that in mind between courses, I don't think I managed to take even one photo without taking a bite first, I was just too excited for what they had in store. Also, I felt great after eating this meal. The menu on the day I came was mostly plant-based, filling, and absolutely delicious!!! It energized me to explore beautiful Amsterdam. I cannot recommend De Kas enough. The staff was exceptional and gave me a small pot of honey to make my birthday even "sweeter." It will always be a great memory.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at De Kas Amsterdam to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at De Kas Amsterdam!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
