❌❌❌GROSS MISCONDUCT AND VERBAL ASSAULT❌❌❌
❌❌❌GROSS MISCONDUCT AND VERBAL ASSAULT❌❌❌ I had a horrendous and frightening experience on the evening of Sunday, January 7 at Dear Irving on Hudson. I came to Dear Irving with the hope that I would be celebrating my birthday. Instead, your manager, Jorge Gonzalez, did something outrageous I never thought I would experience: he threatened me and my boyfriend as retaliation for complaining about him. My boyfriend and I were originally seated in a part of the restaurant which had no view. After seeing many open tables on the opposite side of the restaurant with a view, we requested Jorge to move us to the other side. Jorge refused to move us despite the wide availability and was dismissive and disrespectful to us. After a few minutes, a waitress realized there was no reason to prevent us from sitting on the other side and moved us to one of the several open tables. My boyfriend asked the waitress to provide the manager’s name and the corporate office contact information so we could address our complaint about Jorge with management. Jorge then came by our table and said my boyfriend was “acting like a child” and said he would find out “where he worked” to get him fired as retaliation simply because he we intended to complain about him. Apparently Jorge felt his job was threatened by our complaint and felt the need to personally threaten us in retaliation — something I still cannot believe happened! We were obviously shocked and disgusted that a manager of a restaurant would threaten to contact my boyfriend’s employer simply as retaliation for his complaint. As we were leaving the restaurant, we told the other manager Diego in front of Jorge Gonzalez that Jorge had threatened to contact my boyfriend’s workplace and behaved egregiously and unprofessionally. Jorge then said he knew the reservation was made under my name and said my name out loud in a threatening tone. He suggested he would try do harm to me and my career as retaliation for my boyfriend’s complaint. This is despite the fact that I did not say a word to Jorge at all. In other words, Jorge threatened me, an innocent woman who did not say a word to him, because of a disagreement with my boyfriend. Moreover, Jorge had to be physically restrained by another employee because he could not control himself and there was concern that he would continue to threaten us. Diego agreed that Jorge had behaved extremely inappropriately and gave us Jorge’s full name and told us YJRG/Hudson LLC is the owner of the restaurant. We both feared for our safety because we have never been personally threatened in any restaurant anywhere before in our entire lives. Under no circumstances should Jorge be employed at Dear Irving any longer after behaving this way toward me and my boyfriend. His conduct was disgraceful, menacing, and egregious. I expect a formal apology from management and confirmation that Mr. Gonzalez has been terminated. I do not feel safe to return to the Dear Irving on Hudson establishment and will promptly escalate my safety concerns with the appropriate authorities if Mr. Gonzalez is still employed at the restaurant following this incident.

We wanted to visit a rooftop bar in Manhattan and were lucky enough to come across this one just along the street from our hotel on 40th St. We didn't have a booking, but we're told we could sit at the bar, which was perfect as we had already eaten. The environment was perfect for our taste, and the view from the bar did not dissapoint. Empire State, the Edge and Chrysler building. The bar staff were friendly and happy to shoot the breeze with us. Prices were similar to similar places and they had a fine selection of drinks, including a Glagow Blend whisky! They were in no rush for us to leave, and we would happily have stayed all night.
Be the first to ReplyRude Rooftop
My family and I (boyfriend, father and 17 years old sister) were staying at Aliz Hotel so one night we decided to drink something in the rooftop at the last floor of our hotel. The view was amazing, the drinks a little less but acceptable. Of course we went up with a the 17 years old (she didn’t order anything of course) and at the lobby when they asked a last name for the reservation nobody asked us our IDs and a girl with red curly hair unlocked the elevator with her card and let us go up. 2 days later, we wanted to use the bar at the rooftop again but we were stopped at the lobby by the same redhead that was on shift the time before. She told us that with a 17 yo the access wasn’t allowed. We totally understand the US law, but why did you allowed us to go before? Well, she answered me “HOW YOU DARE TELLING THAT I LET YOU GO, IT’S NOT THE TRUTH”. That was very rude and not professional, right after the manager came to us with some excuses, putting in doubt that we really went upstairs with questions like “maybe you went up in the afternoon before the opening and just to make pictures”. Actually we have the receipt of the purchase of drinks and pictures, but it was 9.45pm and the rooftop was full room, dj included! That was even worst than the rude and unpolite answer of the girl with red hair. NOT RECOMMENDED.

The atmosphere in dear Irving on Hudson is captivating. The panoramic view of the cityscape is breathtaking. The cocktail and the cuisine are top-notch , earning a 9/10. The gentleman at the reception stands out with a remarkable 9/10 rating by providing a welcoming introduction to the rooftop.

Approached the gate keeper, and he was friendly and asked a few questions about reservation and if I was meeting anyone. When I said no, he let me up anyway to go and experience the rooftop bar. Nice view of the city but not on all sides of the building… but the terrace they have has a nice view of the Empire State side of Manhattan. Small but very friendly bar with good choices of beer and top shelf liquors. Didn’t rush me to order and felt exclusive yet friendly

Pre booked this roof top bar for the evening of my son’s 21st birthday prior to arriving in New York. Photos looked amazing with mixed reviews from other customers but for us it did not disappoint; sensational views of Manhattan, friendly service and great cocktails. Weather was fabulous so our group were able to sit out in the balcony area. I would certainly return, weather permitting.

Amazing bar with great views of NY skyline. Enjoyed a pre dinner fizz and starter before heading off to another restaurant close by. Great ambience, back ground music, comfy seating, Highly recommend as not many would know about this bar and terrace from the road.

My son made reservations to this amazing rooftop cocktail bar. The views were amazing! The interior is small and cozy with classy speakeasy style lounge chairs and couches. The views of NYC from this area are great. The drink menu was somewhat intimidating for me being that I am not a typical cocktail drinker. However, the server was very patient in describing what the drinks contained as he added recommendations for me. After visiting the restroom, I made my way to the back section, behind the elevators where I unexpectedly found an outdoor section with even better views compared to those from the other side of the building! The amazing views of the NY skyline are what make this cocktail bar a hit!

It was wonderful to rise above the fray. The views are delightful especially of the water. This was so much better than paying $79 to go to the top of the ESB; this way we had the iconic landmark IN our photos for the price of a drink. On a hot muggy day, the cooler air & breezes were most appreciated. The cocktails and wine were delicious but expensive even for NY. It did not say reservations are required but our experience indicated that they are recommended. We arrived at 4:45 for a 5 pm opening. We were not allowed up until 5 but were seated in a fantastic conversation pit by the bar. It may be tougher to walk in later. We will probably make this a regular stop when we go into the theater because it's on the way back to Penn Station which makes it quite convenient. It is on the south side of the Port Authority & that neighborhood always feels a bit skeevy to me but the Aliz hotel is part of the gentrification
Be the first to ReplyAverage at best, not worth a visit
It’s a nice place to sit and have a drink while you look at the incredible view, but the service was shocking and completely ruins it. Booked as soon as reservations opened and still didn’t get a great seat, asked if we could move to an available couch by the window and were told it would mess up the system…to quote the manager ‘the view isn’t any different anyway’ and ‘we have to make money.’ Got up to get our coats on and they then quickly offered to move us. Cocktails were average at best. Frosty service all round, and they add the gratuity onto the bill as well as asking for the tip at the end. With so many great places with views in the city, I wouldn’t waste your money.
Be the first to ReplyToo expensive for view and service
We booked this bar before a show on Times Square and we were quite disappointed from view and service. Wouldn't go again and spend a lot of money for standard drinks and expensive food. Watch out for the tip. It is set 20% but not worth.

After attending a Broadway show this past Sunday, my wife and I had a drink at a beautiful rooftop bar. Dear Irving on Hudson is a rooftop bar with 360 degree views on the 40th floor of the Aliz Hotel. They offer many unique cocktails, beer, wine and other mixed drinks in a beautiful setting of indoor and outdoor seating. You could view the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center and the Hudson River to name a few. The rooftop is stylish and the staff friendly. Dear Irving was one of the nicest rooftop bars that we have visited.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Views, Good Drinks
We had a party of 5 and begged for a corner couch table. We were probably the oldest people there (over 50), but enjoyed our quiet space next to the window. The balcony had great views for pictures, as I was in town visiting old friends from our college days. No chairs had been set up out there yet. - Service came around a little too often. - Waiting in the lobby of the hotel was ridiculous in the crowded space. I would hate to have been a guest in the hotel. - Great drinks and furniture pre-dinner at another place.

Incredible views, delicious cocktails and friendly service. Our time here absolutely made my husband’s 30th and I only wish we could have stayed longer.
Be the first to ReplyPoor and overrated with 0 service
Booked in advanced with a request, seat was cramped so I ask to move we ordered two glasses of champagne with wanting to spend more as it was a special occasion. Waiter said they will see if they can move us, then he disappeared never to be seen again
My partner did a walk round of the place lots of tables, we asked again no response and then again. We paid bill, admittedly we’d forgot about the tax but server chased us down and we handed over the money of course. They waited for the tip we pointed the issues with service was to why no tip was being paid and the manager was just so rude and arrogant. Do not waste your money if you want to something special. Go to castells rooftop instead your not treated so poorly and the atmosphere and views are so much better
Service let this down and it doesn’t cost anything for good service it’s your job !!!!!!
Overpriced and Underwhelming
We’d booked in advance, where available earlier and so we’re told we could bring forward our sitting. We were sat beside a pillar with none of the hyped view available and despite a request to be seated elsewhere were told other reservations had the number of seats with a view that appeared readily available.
We watched several groups finish in the short time we remained and also watched newcomers, initially seated elsewhere than asking to be moved to the ‘reserved’ seats and then this being accommodated for them, where the same courtesy was not extended to us.
There is much hype about this bar, mainly it’s views (being on the 40th floor of the Aliz) and ironically, we were already staying very nearby - the 39th floor in fact.
So view really wasn’t much better, the service poor and drinks overpriced.
The fact the Aliz tries to portray this as one of its amenities is a joke as well. It’s includes photos of this bar on its sites advertising the hotel and yet residents can’t simply access it instead having to book in advance via Resy. Under 21’s not allowed either so also an inconvenience with those with families staying in this hotel and expecting to be able to easily access this bar.
Furthermore to add further insult, we’d had to listen to the noise from the bar for the two nights previous. Then when we do get the opportunity to try it out, we get crap seats and an overall poor and underwhelming experience.
Ok, but definitely not more
Great view from the 40th floor, but the cocktails are not meeting the expectations - and do not match the price level.
I would normt recommend to go there. Service is slow and below standard.
Great view of the city
This is an upscale bar offering a great view from up high and a really moody ambiance. No dress code enforced, so just go to have a chill time.
Be the first to ReplyGORGEOUS!!!
Everything about this place was gorgeous- the view, the ambiance, the drinks, the bites. We had the best seats, right on the window overlooking the empire state building. GREAT service (everyone was really friendly), drinks and food were delicious and the music was OUTSTANDING. Loved this place.

What a lovely experience. I wanted to go for evening roof top pre show drinks somewhere close to Broadway and chose dear Irving. What a great choice. The views are incredible, the staff are lovely, really chilled out vibe which we like. If having cocktails I recommend the panorama daquiri.

Such a great experience. Girls family trip and we ended the evening here. So glad we did. One of our best evenings on the trip. We didn’t have reservations but it was a rainy, dreary Friday after a show. We got drenched walking back to our hotel on the same street but we decided to drop in and see if we could get a table. The staff was gracious, fun and accommodating. The view was incredible even with the fog, which gave an air of mystery. My new favorite drink is New Pal, but now I’m back in Tennessee and don’t know how to make it. Arghhh! Anyway, if you are in the Times Square / Midtown area, this place is a must visit!
Be the first to ReplyStunning rooftop with fabulous views
This is hands down one of my favorite rooftops in NYC. The decor is stunning, vintage, and great for a mini photoshoot. The view only adds to the ambiance and vibe.
It's a great space for a date night, business event, or ladies night, as there are multiple different themed seating areas.
I'm not sure if they have a full menu, as I was there for a private event and I'm pretty sure the options provided were appetizer items, but either way the food was so good. I thoroughly enjoyed pairing the food offerings with some of their signature cocktails.
My favourite bar ever. Just go.
We went to Dear Irving on Hudson on Thanksgiving while visiting from the UK. We were really early for our reservation because our dinner plans fell through, but the host downstairs was so friendly and fitted us in.
The views here really are something, we were supposed to go to Top of the rock the following night but we didn’t bother in the end because the views here were so good we didn’t feel it was worth it!
Our bartender was Kevin and the service we received really was the best I’ve ever experienced! He came up with different cocktails, off menu, for me to try and they were delicious, thank you Kevin!
Also, the music here is great, not a single bad song on a very long playlist! Loved it!
