good food in a nice ambiance
We are planning to go to another restaurant on Lexington but it didn’t look good and saw Dhaba so decided to check it out. We had no expectations but were pleasantly surprised at the great food chapati and chutney were served immediately and we ordered choole bhature, vegetable biryani and murgh tandoor the chole bhature were very good - we’ve had them at many places and one or the other is good but not both and here both were good the vegetable biryani was excellent and had great flavor the murgh tandoori was also good - we ordered regular naan and peshawari naan - the regular tandoori naan was good; the peshwari had raisins and nuts which were odd overall — good food in a nice ambiance

Very delicous indian restaurant. We went for two different chicken dishes - very tastefull and delicous presented by very observant waiters. Go for it!

I moved away from NYC two years ago (Before Covid!) to a small town in North Carolina which has everything but decent Indian food. Here on a visit, I rushed to Dhaba, a favorite since it opened. Chicken Balti, poori, Kingfisher. I was in Heaven. And the young woman who served me was very sweet.

I was excited to go to this place based on the reviews but found everything to be completely average. The service and the food were mediocre. The food seemed a bit bland. The waitstaff seemed completely uninterested in helping. In a city like New York with so many terrific restaurant options, I wouldn’t put this one on the list.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible place flouting NYC guidelines for COVID
We visited this evening for dinner. While we were seated watched the staff including the owner not wearing mask within in door restaurant catering to over 50 take always with scores of delivery boys. When asked to wear their mask, the owner and manager were rude and asked who are we to ask them to comply with NYC guidelines. I urge NYC administration to immediately shut such places which could become breeding grounds of uptick in Covid cases in NY. Needs URGENT action to shut such places.

One of the neighborhood's charms. This Indian restaurant has such a warm family feel. Great fish curry, great tandoori, and samosa. Can't wait to come back.

Really wanted to say how much I enjoyed dinner here. We tried a few other places in the neighborhood on the Friday and the wait times without a reservation were, in true Manhattan style, ridiculous. It was such comfort to get a seat here! Not a fancy or posh establisment, but enormously kind and respectful service, well cooked food and no pressure to leave. We tried a few of their masalas, garlic bread and rice and it was tasty. Thank you

Went for lunch with a very large group. The menu had something for all dietary requirements: fish, lamb, chicken, and 4 different vegetarian dishes. The food was very good, flavorful (maybe a bit in the spicy side but we had no complaints) and well prepared; the service was excellent. I would definitely go back.

A friend took me to this place on the advice of another friend of his, and it was his gift to me for a kindness I had recently shown him. The dining room is a bit small, nothing fancy, but then again, we were there for the food, hoping to find comfort on a very cold winter evening in New York. The appetizers--chicken drumsticks and stuffed mushrooms--were quite good, but our main courses were subpar: my friend's curry was tasteless, and my chicken Tika Masala was--gasp!--dry, with paltry sauce. The rice pudding dessert was runny. And while the service was ok, the waiter seemed confused about some of the entrees. There are far better Indian places in my neighborhood on the Upper West Side. I will not return.

Ordered take out through Caviar. Four entrees, bread and rice. While we like spicy food several of he dishes, which were all vegetarian, were too spicy. On the caviar menu there was absolutely no indication of spicy intensity. For $110 should be communication.

I love spicy food and I must say that Dhaba delivered the goods and more. I had the vindaloo and I found religion.
