Just astonishing, much more an experience than a meal
I chose this restaurant before they gained their third star. I’d already decided to spend my 60th birthday in Barcelona, and from reviews I’d read of Disfrutar, decided this is where I’d like my birthday meal. Another factor in its favour was that they could adapt their bewildering menu for vegetarians and accommodate a fish allergy. The result was just amazing. I will never truly understand how they can serve 28 courses (called elaborations I think) without you feeling ridiculously full, but you don’t. Many courses just seemed to consist of pure taste and sensation but without any bulk, it’s pure magic. I can’t start to describe the inventiveness of the dishes, but literally none disappointed. Service was impeccable as you might expect from a 3 Michelin starred restaurant, and it certainly isn’t cheap, but it is worth it. I’ve eaten at other 2 and 3 Michelin starred restaurants, but nothing quite like this, it is unique. The paired drinks (11 in all) were thoughtful and enhanced the experience further. How you can order a bottle of wine that would complement such a range of tastes is beyond my ability. Thank you Disfrutar for making my 60th birthday so enjoyable and utterly memorable.

A truly magnificent experience! Service was impeccable, food was delicious and inventiven, sommelier's suggestions on wine were perfect. We would definitely come back no matter where we would be seated.
Be the first to ReplyASK TO BE SEATED AT THE MAIN DINNING ROOM OR YOU RISK SEATING IN A DARK, DUNK, UGLY HALLWAY.
I just left Disfrutar without eating but €300 poorer. I had eaten at Disfrutar last year and really loved it, so I made a reservation to go with my daughter who is a foodie and really excited about the fine dinning experience. I tailored my trip to Barcelona to accommodate our Disfrutar meal. We anticipated this day for many months. But today when we arrived at the restaurant our table was not in the main room overlooking the kitchen as we expected, but in a dark, ugly hallway by the entrance. It really looked like a mid neighborhood joint, not at all a 3 starred Michelin restaurant for which I was about to drop €700 +. I’ve always thought that it took Disfrutar this long to earn a third star because the local’s entrance is not up to standard, and that’s where we were going to be eating. The wait stuff told us that this was our only option since their dinning room was full. Then they tried to convince us that the space was actually better. That was kind of infuriating. We asked if they’ll charge the penalty fee and they said they will. Frankly I think they shouldn’t have, because what they were offering was so inferior we decided to leave rather than spend the whole meal feeling we were second class costumers. So we are a cautionary tale: make sure to ask, when you make your reservation, to be seated in the main dinning room. A normal person would never expect to be seated in the horrible space by the entrance, but make sure to ask because if you don’t you’ll be missing out the experience and paying the same price.

What an incredible experience we had at Disfrutar. I tried to get reservations several months before our trip to Spain after seeing a video about it. There were no reservations to be had, so I was so excited when they called three days before we would be in Barcelona that they had an opening. There were three of us, and we were thrilled. The experience is nothing short of amazing! It was all I had hoped for and more. Our 28 course "lunch" started at 1:30 pm, and we left about 4 pm. We were seated immediately and given a paper with lots of adjectives explaining what we were about to experience. Some of those words were: surprise, craftsmanship, colors, illusion, rigor, maturity, provocation and about 50 additional descriptors. The categories they want you to think about are experiences, exclusivity, friendship, creativity, technique, flavor, memories, and sensations. What a unique opening to our experience. The servers are so kind and fun and so very smart! Each course was described and if necessary, we were given instructions in how to eat it. There were apertifs, savory bites, and then sweets. The sommelier helped us to choose a wine we would enjoy, and the wine itself wasn't too pricey. The three of us all agreed that we would return in 10 years and do it again if possible. All of those adjectives played out in our minds. The dining room is light, the kitchen is open to see, the staff are incredible, and the food was literally out of this world! We all agreed that the price was completely worth it. The experience was exciting, entertaining, fun, intriguing, and definitely delicious. Thank you for this cool experience in Barcelona! So happy that you called and got us in! Next time we will make a reservation months in advance!

I don't want to share too much because the many surprises during our meal are what made the dinner special. We did the classic menu as it was our first visit. It's definitely the best Michelin Star experience we've had in any county, nothing like it, and one of the top 5 meals of my life. Book it if you can, you won't regret it.

Being a foodie, several of my friends have been telling me that I needed to try Disfrutar. Finally I had a chance to travel back to Barcelona and got a reservation. Expectations were very high. From the moment I arrived and was greeted by the staff, I knew this was going to be something different. The open kitchens, the decor, the unpretentious tables and chairs, everything was perfect. And then, the parade of 20+ dishes started.....all incredibly creative and tasty. My favorites....mmmmm....the caviar ball, the green and white asparagus, the carbonnaraand the chicken with the golden eggs....The wine list is very extensive and the very knowledgeable sommelier could made recommendations according to your taste. I felt so at home that I did not want to leave the restaurant. Sadly, the staff needed to go go to sleep.....

I’m started with a warm welcome. The food was inspiring, creative and beautiful made. The staff attentive, professional and friendly. We had 26 course classic menu and it was a great experience.

Be the first to Reply2 Michelin Stars but not Stellar
28 courses of creativity, yet we left feeling dissatisfied. Why? The service was well-choreographed but not warm, the food was unique but not delicious, the ambience was clean but not interesting. My dining partner felt “challenged” by the meal, which defies the word cloud “menu” that was presented at the top of the 3 hour experience. I think the “fun” and “enjoyment” of the meal was on behalf of the restaurant taking 235€pp for the chef’s vanity project. I agree that the menu was ‘out of the box’ in technique and presentation, but when there is no recipient satisfaction or underlying constance of theme, it just seems like a show for the show’s sake. Maybe I am not the audience for Michelin star dining, however, if I have all the money, world exposure, and open mindedness AND still cannot get on board, who is this all for?

Took the classical menue. A very nice evening with excellent food and wine. And some breathtaking creations.

Very enjoyable experience, great staff. The food was surprising in many aspects. We took the 25-course classic menu and we’re not disappointed. We also shared the wine tasting for 2 which we recommend as it being another dimension to the food.

One of the most entertaining and delicious dinners ever! Disfrutar is all it is described and deserves its Michelin Star recognition (3 stars). The service is seamless, un-stuffy and so well done. The food is sublime, with flavor combinations you can’t even describe or appreciate until you have tasted them. In particular the “Panchino” filled with caviar and crème fresh was probably the most incredible bite I have ever tasted. And the Lychee with roses and gin was the most beautiful course but also delicious. Must try!!!

My wife and I came to Disfrutar for dinner on the last night of our trip. We opted for the seasonal menu which I think was a mistake for first-time visitors. Should have probably gone with the classic menu as our first intro to Disfrutar.
One thing I really loved at Disfurat compared to some of the other Michelin-star restaurants is its low-key and relaxed atmosphere. The service is just attentive enough without being overbearing. This was really nice to see.
The food, presentation, and wine pairing really went well together. I actually thought that this restaurant had the best wine out of any of the other ones we've been to on this trip. There were also more dishes that were memorable such as the caviar donut. Overall I thought the food was OK. There was a lot of emphasis on walnuts and other nuts which I didn't care for. One dish was a squab which I didn't particularly enjoy. I just did not like many of the flavors that were presented in the seasonal menu.
One big caveat: We went to Direkte and Cocina Hermanos Torres and did not enjoy those Michelin-star meals either. I believe we just don't have the right palette or flavor profile to enjoy these meals. But out of those three restaurants, we did enjoy Disfutar the most.
Best ever
What an amazing experience. You walk through an unassuming store front. A little kerfuffle: did we have a booking. And then are greeted by the whole team as you are led to your table. And then it begins: a culinary and visual explosion of flavours, colours and textures accompanied by thoughtfully selected local wines. One of our best dining experiences ever!

Worth every penny we spent. Better than two three stars Michelin I ate in back in France. Just perfect. A succession of surprises and amazements.
