We had such a wonderful experience at Dishoom! A big thank
We had such a wonderful experience at Dishoom! A big thank you to Tina, our server--she was attentive, friendly, and made our meal even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Chicken Ruby, garlic naan, daal, basmati rice, and paneer, and every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent throughout the night. The ambience was a bit on the loud side, but still lively and fun, adding to the overall experience. We'll definitely be back next time!
Not adaptable for allergies
Whilst the waiting staff were very friendly, the restaurant could not adapt any dishes for my allergies, they could not make a small adjustment and we had to leave. My allergies are not airborne or affected by cross contamination. The waiting staff were very apologetic and offered a free cocktail which we politely declined as we needed to leave for food. Even Wagamamas are prepared to adapt food to remove one ingredient. Many restaurants are able to do this I had expected Dishoom to be able to cope with a simple adjustment. Disappointed that we had to leave.
Dishoom is worth exploring.
They offer a variety of options sure to please. I especially liked the chicken ruby and the chilli broccoli salad. Service was excellent, attentive, and helpful in guiding through the menu. Great atmosphere. I will return!!
Not impressed that lunch orders not taken till 1215 pm!!!
We arrived at the restaurant around 1150am and were shown to our table and told that our server would be with us shortly. Having waited for 20 minutes without anyone coming to serve us we stopped a member of staff and were told that orders were not taken till 1215 (not even for drinks) !!!!! No where on the website was any mention made of this as the website states on the menu that the "All Day" is served from 12pm daily. Finally we were served by Meghan who was very apologetic and took our order. The food itself was very tasty and Meghan herself very friendly and charming so that saved the restaurant from getting a 3* rating.
Amazing
I recently dined at Dishoom which has been on my wish list for ages. There was a bit of a mix up with my table, however the staff could not have been more apologetic, Dede in particular. I was fussed over like royalty. Fantastic service and all the staff seem to really enjoy working there.
Excellent experience at Kingly Street Dishoom
We went to Dishoom in Kingly Street for a pre-theatre dinner. Weโve been a few times before and it was actually my 10 year oldโs choice! As always the food was stunning, I love the Ruby curry, my son had the Murgh Malai and loved it so much he asked if he could have seconds! Husband has the chefโs special lamb. I would highly recommend all dishes. Our server Aisha was excellent, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and really helped elevate the experience for us. We will be back!
Fantastic Service and a Memorable Birthday at Dishoom Carnaby
We had a wonderful experience at Dishoom Carnaby. Our waitress Cat was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, especially with the allergy sufferers in our group, which gave us real peace of mind. The food and wine were absolutely delicious, and the surprise desserts with a candle for my birthday were such a thoughtful touch. Thank you for making it such a memorable lunch!
Fantastic food and wonderful service
The food and wine were great. The lady (Cat/ Kat) that served us was fantastic, a couple of our group have allergies and she made us feel so at ease choosing from the menu and helping us with what we could have. Sheโs an absolute asset to the Dishoom team. We will definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu!
Book or queue either way you won't regret it!
Amazing food with excellent service. We were looked after by Tom who showed an excellent knowledge of the menu. He was polite, friendly and helpful. Other staff who delivered food and drinks were all friendly and full of smiles. Our food was authentic, tasty and served with speed you would not expect from a packed out restaurant. If I could give six stars I would.
Fun with an Indian mealโผ๏ธโผ๏ธ
Well, I go to this chain of restaurants quite regularly and I have always enjoyed the shaking of the dice which I have. I must say being very very lucky so thereโs always a good chair when I hit the right number, especially if Iโm with friends and the more friends the better anyway keep it up keep it up most of the time I go to Battersea or the one of Carnaby Street. And did have a birthday lunch in High Street Kensington which was a joy oh and guys anyone reading this review do go for breakfast the naan bread filled with sausage, bacon eggs delicious delicious, delicious. And of course, my friends love it when we have a 700 serving us at the table.๐ฑ๐ฑ๐๐
Let's talk amazing "Authentic" East Indian food.
Curry heaven. This was really really great food on a scale that I cut above the best. It was recommended by our driver who was familiar with Indian food having been there a long time and said that because of the quality of the ingredients in the food they get in London And it's the best recipe to come from India with the people making it the old style way the flavors are off the hook. It was so wonderful to taste. Something that had authentic flavors like this. It really doesn't matter what you order off the menu because it's going to be an amazing experience. I recommend that you see this place and treat yourself to a culinary excursion into the unknown, but the lovely unknown.
Great food
Had a superb meal here! We loved everything from the warm welcome to the increible food. I would highly recommend this place !
We went with high hopes given all reviews and to be honest
We went with high hopes given all reviews and to be honest the starters kept the promise. However, an Indian restaurant cannot get butter chicken (Chicken Ruby) wrong - it was too sweet. All the promise of London serving best butter chicken felt like a hype - so far Mumbai and California rule when it comes to butter chicken. I would have forgiven the raw-on-the-edges rumali roti and the over-crispy paratha served with kathi roll if they did not destroy butter chicken.
A visit to London with a meal to remember.
A masterclass in flavor and hospitality. From the moment we walked in, the warm welcome and gentle spice aromas set the tone. We started with crisp vegetable samosas. The mains were standouts: buttery chicken tikka masala with tender char, a perfectly executed blackened shrimp. The dal makhani tasted like it had been simmered all day--silky, smoky, and deeply comforting. The breads deserve their own applause: cheese naan arrived blistered and chewy, perfect for scooping up every last drop. Service was attentive without hovering--water glasses always full, thoughtful pacing, and smart recommendations. Ambiance is relaxed yet polished, with soft lighting and music playing at a comfortable volume. Prices are fair for the quality and portions. Whether you're new to Indian cuisine or a longtime fan, this place hits all the right notes. Only negative I can state is THERE ISN'T ONE IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA!!! EAST BAY preferably.

IYKYK, Indian food in the UK is a must! It was so hard to decide where but my friends and the internet recommended we try Dishoom. Oh my gosh this place is so dang good! Reservations are a must because this is one of the most popular places to get Indian cuisine in London. We arrived before our reservations and sat at the bar. Once our table was ready, we were seated. The restaurant is quite massive. The bar is reminiscent of a typical pub--dark, cozy, old school. As you walk into the dining side it's bright, lots of plants and art, and mismatched tables and chairs for ranging party sizes. Service is fantastic, all of our waitresses are kind, accommodating, and fun to chat to. Everyone who helped us were efficient. We shared family style, ordering the Chef's Caranby Special, Makmali Paneer, Chicken Ruby, House Black Daal, Garlic Naan, and Basmati Rice. Hands down, my favorite curry was the black daal. It is so freaking addicting--creamy, rich, and delicious. The other curries were superb with a hint of spice, plenty of seasoning, and decent meat portions. Our starches were all great accompaniments. For dessert, they had some of the Coconutty Fruit Crumble. I took a bite and the crumble was good--sweet, coconutty, and filled with fruit. I decided to order a House Chai with Oat Milk. It was one of the best chais and a mixture of all the goodness--sweet, spicy, bold, and creamy. Dishoom is a well loved restaurant chain in England. Their Caranby location is off Kingly, which is a walking only path. Make reservations in advance! By the time we left there were at least 40 people waiting outside because it's that good. A true must try when visiting or living in London.

I arrived at 11:40 and was told there was no server for the outside area until 12:15. Could I get on a wait list, I asked. No need. So we walked around Carnaby Street and returned at 12:09 to find all the outside tables were taken. I saw a table open up and was told that it was too small for our party. I went back again and told the hostess we'd make it work, and by then I think my pestering had worn her down and we got a table. Yay! This shouldn't have happened in the first place but yay! Otherwise we would have been waiting around an hour and this might have messed up our plans (we had tickets) for later in the day. We got our perennial favorite, Gunpowder Potatoes, as well as my husband's new fave, a lamb dish (though I can't remember the name now). We also tried the Channa Salad and the Ruby Chicken. The latter included only about 5 not large pieces of chicken, so a little skimpy for the price. And as always I delighted in their Chocolate Chai (the best anywhere) and had another Chocolate Chili Pudding, even though I'd had one a week earlier, because I loved it so much.
the service is amazing.
they'll go over the menu for you. lamb was very soft. monkfish curry was really good. chicken berry biryani had a nice flavor. make sure to make a reservation.
I bought into the hype of this place.
We decided to come here for dinner. We were told the wait would be 30 to 40 minutes and ended up waiting about 55 min. I felt like they tell you a lower time and so you become committed to eating here if it exceeded their estimates. Many people were angry bc they had waited a long time. When we finally got seated, we quickly ordered bc we were hungry. We got this red chicken that was okay. The main dishes don't come with any rice, roti or naan. You have to order this separately. We also got the tandoori chicken which was dry and a little burnt. The okra fries were okay. Nothing remarkable. Service was okay. We didn't get a second refill of water. Ambiance is nice.

After getting the book and reading about it, this was a must go place for me and my wife in London. It did not disappoint. The food was extraordinary in fact the best Indian food I think I've had in my entire life! The service was attentive without intrusive, and this location was super energetic without being frenetic. We started with the Dishoom chaat which was a wonderful explosion of flavor without being heavy at all. The chicken Ruby was the best version of butter chicken that I've ever had. It was flavorful without being greasy or heavy in anyway. But that did not even come close to my favorite dish, which was the black daal. I never knew that this simple dish could taste so complex and rich, and it made me want to lick the bowl! Feeling guilty we ordered the grilled greens, which were simple yet super flavorful and crisp. The naans were top-notch as well. all in all just a delightful evening. And for everything, it was still under ยฃ100! Given other places that we've been to on this holiday, it was quite a bargain.
The food was terrible.
The chapati that came with the channa masala curry was hard, and the curry itself had no flavor. I would not personally recommend this spot if you are looking for flavorful Indian dishes.
Lived up!
Lived up to the hype! I came for breakfast and it was incredible. Had sausage and egg naan and the rolls with chai tea. Tea was religiously good

As always, very good restaurant, it was possible to wait in the bar and as usual, the food was great.
Horrible service.
They will lie to you about seating you. They favor certain kinds of people.
I am a new convert to Indian Breakfast
What an excellent place to eat breakfast, would be great for business meets. Food was delicous, I had the wrestlers naan and although i am not a wrestler i was more than satisfied, set me up for the day. My partner had the veggie breakfast thing which looked delicious, staff were great, atmosphere was spot on, price was right and food was delicious, would definitely recommend

Definitely a must try! The service was relatively quick and the food was incredible! I'd definitely recommend looking at the cocktail menu too
Make the reservation and don't miss out!
We were a group of 9 people so we had made reservations months before. There was a line going to the Thames when we got there, so book early. Because of the size of our group, we had a tasting menu, one vegetarian and one-non. Sharing was easy and the variety of foods offered was delicious. Our food was not super spicy but extra spiciness could easily have been ordered. A wonderful evening with delicious food and very conscientious servers.
Dishoom is Dishy!
Had fab pre theatre dinner. Perfectly located for the London Palladium! Great tasty and quality food, big choice, excellent service, lovely ambience.
What a nice meal w great ambience!
I canโt even describe how enjoyable experience dining at dishoom, everything is great! Service, food quality and ambience Itโs a BIG restaurant at Carnaby but itโs packed, and I can see why! If you love Indian food and youโre in London, must come to dishoom!
Now I Get the Hype!
After being recommended by a London friend, I finally decided to give Dishoom a try, and now I can see the popularity. We opted for a late lunch before heading back to the airport, and even at 2pm the place was rammed. Luckily it was dry and we were offered a table outside (or it would have been up-to an 1hr wait for inside). The idea is Indian tapas style with sharing plates. We opted for four dishes between 2 (*we are small eaters) and a naan. This was plenty for us and couldn't finish it all. Everything was so well spiced and balanced, with soft chicken, fragrant biryani and one of the best naans I have ever had. I am already wanting to go back to try more of the menu. Service was great and our server explained the menu and concept perfectly, recommending dishes for us, which did not disappoint.
Go for breakfast!
Delicious breakfast and great service. We had the naan break breakfast sandwiches and the yoghurt, fruit and toasted nut granola. Good service and warm and friendly staff. Itโs very busy so book a table ahead online
Worst chicken tikka ever
Iโm not sure how or why people have given the food such great reviews.. maybe the food tastes good to people who donโt know what real Indian / south Asian food is supposed to taste like. Not ever going back for over-hyped, overly priced poor quality food.
the best service i have ever received
iโve been to dishoom one other time and my experience was lovely both times, but this time the service was genuinely incredible. i have never had a server take the time to intricately explain any part of the menu when asked and she really looked after my mum for her birthday meal (it was also her first time dining with you). the experience made a very memorable 50th celebration and we will definitely continue to make this a tradition to come here for celebratory occasions! :)i canโt remember the servers name, she served our table from roughly 4-5pm, we were sat on table 10 in the corner and she was wearing a black and white blouse. she definitely came across as though she was a manager too.
Awesome indian food with exceptional customer service!
Thanks Beth! and Manager on floor at Carnaby for providing utmost hospitality, care and attention to overall Customer Service. Food is anyways awesome but we go to DISHOOM for overall experience. Yet again, we were really thrilled since you made our day!! Kudos to the team for showing us why we love & rate DISHOOM 10/10. It's our favourite indian restaurant within London outside India :-)
Ten stars.
The food only lasted 10 minutes until it was finished . Service is great it takes ten minutes to find a table and 10 minutes wait for food after you order.the ambiance was amazing and awesome and impeccable

This place is quite popular and they only do walk in for dinner so come early or after 9p to avoid the rush. When we got there it was a 15-20 minute wait for a party of 2 and up to 50 minutes for a party of 5 from what I overheard. After getting in line a server comes around to take your name down. Then you wait until it's time to go inside and you're handed a buzzer to wait a bit longer by the bar area. They have plenty of non alcoholic cocktail options which was very nice. I went with a na mojito and was happy with it. Beers are bottled and cocktails are premixed. For dinner I got the ruby chicken (like butter chicken) with 4 pieces of chicken and a cheese naan. The ruby chicken was just slightly too spicy to my taste so I don't know about ordering this if you can't handle spicy. I asked about adjusting spice level and they can't so it seems food is also premade. The cheese naan was more green onion than cheese so I don't understand the popularity, it was just ok. My partner got chicken tikka (grilled chicken, no curry) and he was very happy with it. This dish was definitely spicier. He also got a side of marsala sauce ยฃ5. Service was fairly good with someone checking in on us frequently. Although they got our order wrong and forgot I ordered the ruby chicken. Overall it was ok. The music in the restaurant is quite loud, not a great place for a date. I feel that people who enjoy spicy foods would enjoy this place very much. I would not wait for more than 15 minutes for a table.
Food was amazing.
Service towards the end was a nightmare. After asking 4 times for the check and no one coming to give it/get it I had to take it up with the manager. She was sitting with her friends while I waited over an hour for the check. Insane. Ambiance overall was good. The only saving grace was really the food but the experience was god awful.

Sad to say I was disappointed that the hype of the restaurant did not match its flavors. We tried to eat at a different location the day before but didn't have reservations so decided to try it at a later date with reservations. Tonight I happened to be in the neighborhood of this location and it was 10 pm so decided to give it a try. The space is phenomenal. The vibes are vibing in the restaurant I must say. Staff is super friendly and nice. I was seated within 5 minutes of getting there. The restaurant was dark and brown. So be prepared to pull out those phone lights. I was surprised with the menu, honestly. A lot of items were reference as Persian. I didn't quite get that. I ordered a beer which was served Luke warm with a warm glass. Like who does that? I ordered the paneer tikka and their house black daal. Ordered rice and a naan as well. They give you a little platter of chutneys. They all tasted interesting. The paneer was ok. The daal was creamy and rich. Naan was lathered with yummy butter. Everything tasted like something I can get elsewhere. I don't understand the hype. I am positive we will be cancelling our reservations for a later day that we made to go as a family. Just didn't feel it with the food.
The food at Dishoom is so good and worth the wait.
We were told it was a 40 minute wait but we could have some drinks while we wait. They gave us a few drinks to try, complimentary, and they were so good. All the food was delicious - they are small plates so you can order more dishes and get more variety. The waiter was really nice and gave us some of his recommendations which all tasted great.
Awesome food.

An experience of British Indian food
Good experience and food is generally fine. Enjoyed the flavours in food, though I wasnโt exactly used to British Indian food. It was worth a try! Service was very excellent, but seating and moving about was a little cramped, though it is a large restaurant.
Amazing dinner
We had a fantastic meal and service by Keya. We did not have a reservation so we were in line for about 20 minutes. A nice staff member came down the line while we waited offering hot mint and chai tea. It was such welcoming touch since we were outside and it was a bit cold. She told us once inside we could order a drink while waiting for a table. We did so, sat at the bar and had our drink just as our table was ready. Keya was a delight, the food amazing and prompt. Thank you!
We had a fabulous dinner here with the seven of us.
Our waiter did a fabulous job of recommending a variety of dishes, and they were all really delicious. Favorites were definitely the black daal, the ruby chicken for the kids, and the specialty lamb. Even if you don't like daal, I would definitely try this black daal. It was unlike any other I've ever had. The lamb was stellar and the Ruby chicken was very much like a chicken tikka masala. This is a great place to try interesting things and some old standbys. We had a fabulous meal, and would love to come back!
Good ambiance.
Service was ok. Food was way over priced. Just 6 grilled shrimps (mind you shrimp size not big prawns) w/o rice or anything else that accompanied it & garlic naan was almost $40.
Worth the line!!! Our sever was great at helping us order
Worth the line!!! Our sever was great at helping us order enough for sharing and dang, the food was so good. I loved everything about here and genuinely hope I get to return.
Great unique flavors
I decided to get the okra fries, garlic naan and the chicken ruby. Normally I go for the Salli Boti. I liked the Chicken Ruby, it definitely has a sweet & savory flavor with great spice, but I preferred the Salli Boti. The garlic naan was great! The Okra fries people rave aboutโฆ I thought they were just ok. The blueberry compote rice pudding was not very good. A very strong cardamom flavor and not your typical rice pudding.
Very unpleasant experience with waiter
The food was really good as always , however I had a very unpleasant experience with the waitress serving us this evening . We were 4 people, I ordered for everybody since my friends visiting London did not speak that much English . The waitress asked for allergies I said I was gluten and dairy free. I ordered my two gluten and dairy free dishes and explain we wanted 3 starters to share and 3 other main courses . They waitress insisted I could not eat the starters ( I had not even said which starters I wanted ) because I could only eat my gluten and dairy free dishes I ordered , I explained at least 4 times the starters were not for me but my friends but she kept going and saying I could not order them to the point of being rude and not listening . I had to asked her to please stop , to listen and take my order. I honestly was extremely angry at the way she was behaving and it was very uncomfortable for my friends witnessing the argument
This place is quite busy at any time you venture in.
On a recent Saturday night, we waited almost 90 minutes for a table since we did not have a reservation. Drinks were very good and the mojito I had at the bar was phenomenal. Food wise everything was top notch. The chicken tikka roll for an app and then the ruby chicken and garlic naan for our entree were all delicious and hit the spot. Definitely a must try for some unique takes on Indian cuisine.
Really good
Food here is very good and atmosphere great, our server Keyannah was really helpful, she was really good with suggestions dishes and how many we should order. Hope to go back very soon !
Meh
Nice to Average food, very average to poor service, expensive for some dhal - sharing platters we have one or inch peice of chicken each - not good enough for the 70 GBP per head price tag
MUST GO! Absolutely loved Dishoom! Wow 10/10! Service was
