Disappointing on flavours
honestly, not worthy of a Michelin star. We all did the tasting menu. Presentation was good but flavours were lacking. The canapés were bland which was our first tell tale of disappointment. Service was good, atmosphere was nice but food not quite there. having eaten at many stared restaurants my guess is this was will not retain its star. More show than taste. Too bad. Better restaurants to go to without the the cost but with the taste. Also left left hungry.

The view is AMAZING, one of the best in Toronto. The ambience is perfect and the service 💯, as well as the food. At the end of the menu my son asked secretly for a surprise because of my birthday, and offered a selection of sweets as also a Little present and a Happy Birthday letter, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS, thanks a lot! This restaurant really deserves a Michelin star🌟🤩👌🏻

Excellent service, knowledgeable staff. Best meal I've ever had in my life, my wife was pleased with the whole birthday experience.

Outstanding menu and the service is out of this world. We enjoyed their tasting menu with wine pairings and the overall experience was incredible. Best date night spot in the city by far! We will be back for sure.

This past Sunday I took my wife to Don Alfonso’s restaurant for her birthday. Special occasion, really looking forward to it. Maybe our expectations were too high. We went with the a la carte menu, which with two drinks each, tax and tip clocked in at $470 and for that sort of money we expected to be blown away when in fact we were sorely disappointed. Food presentation was visually good, flavours average, but the secondi and primi (hot dishes) were tepid at best, the music choice didn’t say ‘quality’ and the staff, though pleasant and attentive, had no passion. Just followed the script. Sorry Don Alfonso, but on this occasion it didn’t work for us - just a waste of good money.

Really a noisy place. When one enters a Michelin star restaurant one expects more atmosphere and a better service less chaotic and better organized. Our tasting menu was really disappointing even the pasta was overcooked. Only Italian red Aglianico bottle was perfect. Too generous Michelin star award.
Be the first to ReplyTiny Portion and Once in a Life Time Expensive DIning Experience
Our son and daughter in law brought us here for dinner during their last visit to Toronto. It was our first dining experience in a Michelin Starred restaurant. We chose the 8 course dinnerThese are the dishes that stood out for us: 1.The seared Quebec Duck Breast 2The Organic Manitoba Tenderloin wrapped in layered Swiss Chard. 3The British Columbia Wild Turbot fish 4.and finally the dessert plates. My main comments on this dining experience: 1. The washroom are tiny . There were only two cubicles inside the squeezy toilets. 2. We were assigned one service person but our orders each item was brought in by kitchen trainees who rushed through explaining what they were serving us. They looked like they wanted to breeze through the presentation or were ashamed to stand over and serve customers. Before you can ask them what they serve again they scurry away. 3. Not all the items were deserving a Michelin star, we loved the steak, the duck and the fish and of course the dessert out of the 8 course tasting menu.

A fantastic restaurant with great food, great service and great views over Toronto and Lake Ontario. An appropriately extensive wine and cocktail list matched the fine dining experience. All of our dishes were of the highest standard of ingredients, cooking and presentation. For us probably the stand out for our evening was the attention to detail in both plating and the service.

Michelin star ?? Slow service. Expensive. Food was good. Not great. Ambience lacking. Nice view if you can get a lake view. Empty water view tables but would not let us sit there. Terrible walk in ambience as Westin Harbour Fromt lobby is terrible. Many better options for dinner in Toronto. Won’t go back. Slow service ok food. Not Michelin star level IMO.

Don Alfonso 1890 is the best Italian restaurant in Toronto, Canada. After being 6 years in Canada and trying many restaurants, we finally found a top class food experience. High quality flavors, amazing taste, superb wines and excellent service. A wonderful experience that you definitely want to come back and taste again. Highly recommended, and not to forgot, excellent service from Kelly Kwan a senior captain in the restaurant.

Wonderful Dining experience! Nathan and Dillon were warm and welcoming and knowledgeable. Food is presented beautifully and very flavourful. Decor is bright and modern and view is amazing! Tour of the kitchen with a little chocolate and Sambuca is a nice way to end the Experience!

I went a few months ago with two of my friends and we were very impressed. We are so happy that Toronto finally has earned some Michelin stars ✨ The renovations are just stunning and it’s still one of the best views of the cities. They earned their ⭐️! Congratulations. We will be back. The food was incredible and the drinks are very creative and fun. The staff is very tentative and really friendly.

I had a family dinner at this gourmet Italian restuarant in Casa Loma. Wonderful pasta great paring wine and fantastic service. Dessert a must to have. I suggest anyone in Toront to enjoy and visit Don Alfonso.

We arrived and had outstanding pre dinner cocktails. The Martini Four Ways and Hanlan’s Point. Both were stunning. We had the signature tasting menu with the wine pairings and both the waiters and sommeliers were attentive yet unobtrusive. The food was absolutely exquisite with every course fabulously presented. The female washrooms are pretty awesome too! I’d give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! Definitely an experience to be repeated!

For many years I have been going to the restaurant at the Westin. Way back to when it was called the Lighthouse. It has always been one of my favorite places to go. The view is spectacular and so not to be missed at night. It was also called Toula's. But it has since been changed to new owners and is now called Don Alfonso's I am overwhelmed on the ambience of this exquisite renovation that has taken place. The decor has never been so beautiful. Even the bathroom has an spectacular view. But the presentation of the food and the culinary delight is second to none. Each course is presented by different staff members well trained in expressing the origin of the food presented. Every bite mouth watering. I cannot recommend a place more. I cannot say enough of the expert staff, the bar tender, the welcoming host, the waiter and waitresses. I would recommend without hesitant. A must experience not to be missed. I cannot wait to go again.

Received an offer from Vintages (the LCBO) to join a group for dinner and to experience the wines of the Napa Valley. The price for the evening-$499 per person. We live in an apartment with a view of the restaurant and we knew that one day we would have to go regardless just to "scratch that off the bucket list-despite the price.) We really enjoyed the event. We were seated with two interesting gentlemen, we toured the kitchen and met the maitre d, the seven course meal was interesting (I enjoy Denny's as well as high end so dinner is dinner to me), service was professional (I did not know the server's names) and in summary it was a great time. If you are a gourmet I suspect you would find the restaurant fabulous. I am not a gourmet but I really enjoyed the entire evening even at a "grand" for the two of us.

Be the first to ReplyVERY DISSAPOINTING MEAL FOR OVER $1000.00 for 3 people
We had big expectations..Unfortunately the food here is sadly lacking...I will say the service and staff are very good, very knowledgeable . helpful,accommodating..but they are serving up a product that just isn't very good. Pasta was foul the fish pasta had a very tiny sliver of fish the pasta was so hard it was inedible and we returned it. The rigatoni that replaced it was like chef Boyardee!l..Not that tasty..hot dishes served cold we had to return the lobster and the turbot and it was replaced with a warm version, Bison was not that tasty and had a bland au juice ..Nice presentations with mediocre flavors.. .just doesn't cut it. As I mentioned we had to return several dishes but they were good about it. I don't blame their caring staff...I think they need a new chef! Deserts were the only highlight with great flavours from their limited selection. The design of the space is cold and hard surfaces make it very loud...View is wonderful Especially from the toilet where there is no toilet paper to be found. Maybe thats because of their extremely fancy toilets where you can take a bum bath if so inclined... Michelin star...??? I question the Michelin standards now...very disappointing

Let me start by saying that I have in total dinned in 12 restaurants with 20 Michelin Stars in total and Don Alfonso in my bias opinion is in the top 3! Why bias, well because I am from Toronto and have to say that having a restaurant of this level here is impressive and promising. The improvements they did since their days in Casa Loma are very noticeable. Now about the restaurant, this is an upscale restaurant where you get what you pay for! So yes, it is on the pricy side especially for Toronto, but it is really worth it. The food was delicious! Between the two of us we shared 7 different dishes, and if I’m being VERY picky only 1 was not for me (but again it’s not cause it wasn’t well done, this is just due to my own preference) The alcohol was fairly priced and there was A LOT of choices. They had a selection of wines and sparkling wines for all budgets, with popular choices and some exclusive bottles that are not available in LCBO. For the mixed drinks I really enjoyed that they had their signature cocktails as well as “people’s favourites”. Now the best part about this place is the staff/service! My spelling is probably going to be way off but our severs name was Reginald and he was an absolute delight! He was professional, attentive and very helpful without being overly crowding! Answered all my crazy questions about plates, and offered little fun facts about other specialties in the restaurant! If you have an opportunity to visit this restaurant please do, you will not be disappointed!

Very average food. Ice Creamed eel bland. Seared Muscovy Duck little flavor. Vermicelli was terrible. Murluzzo Nero neither myself or wife could eat. Bison was average. Overall extremely disappointing. Avoid eating here if possible
