My go-to when I need to stay overnight in Times Square for work. Reliable. Good bar food, tucked away outside of the Times Square bubba gump and other nonsense, and good drink/beer menu. You will not be disappointed, unless you are tough to please and have a stick up your...
Be the first to ReplyHad a great experience here.
Drinks were fun and tasty. Food was excellent, came out hot, and was cooked exactly how we ordered it. Service was attentive and timely. Was easy to make a reservation online and the vibe of the restaurant was really cool. You'd probably need a reservation if you had a large group but it looked relatively easy for small groups to walk in. It's definitely more of a drinks and appetizers place but they do have main dishes - we just wished they had a couple more options for main dishes (but they still had plenty). Also, prices were very reasonable for NYC. Would definitely come here again!
Be the first to ReplyOn a Saturday evening, this bar was quite noisy and crowded.
They have lots of small high top tables, so it would be a good option for just two or three people. Our waitress was attentive. To eat, I had the roasted cauliflower. The dish was tasty. The cauliflower were tender, but a bit bland. The spicy purée had very little kick to it but it added nice flavor so I would've appreciated more of it. The cauliflower was sprinkled with a few grains of quinoa but don't expect any real carbs with this dish. My friend ordered the pork belly buns and enjoyed them. I'd be interested to come back to try their cocktail menu.

Wonderful ambience, amazing staff, and wonderful twists in classic cocktails. A solid old fashioned vibe with modern Broadway clientele. The whiskey specials are the best.
Be the first to ReplyWe visited on a Monday night before seeing Six on Broadway.
The ambiance is good, it's very dark in the restaurant, but they also have a great outdoor area for warmer weather. We ordered the brisket sliders, ahi Tuna, and truffle fries. Everything was really solid. I especially like the brisket sliders. Our server was really attentive and we would recommend this spot to anyone looking to grab a meal before or after a show nearby.
Be the first to ReplyCool spot, nice vibe and decor.
Creative cocktails, however I would only recommend one per visit. If you order a second, it's watered down. My theory is because once you have the first delicious one, you're less likely to notice the second is inferior (it has less alcohol than the first to save money). It wasn't just me, but my date also noticed the same thing. And we each ordered our own drink, twice. Also the cocktails are all $16-$18/each now, so the photos of the menu with lower prices are all outdated.
Be the first to ReplyGreat little bar/restaurant.
Was seeking something local within walking distance and this was the right choice. Definitely try the bao buns and seared ahi tuna!

First, shout out to Daryl who was an absolute gentleman from the moment we stepped foot inside. He genuinely made our experience that much more memorable. My girls and I were ready to grub after having a couple of drinks and boy did the food hit the spot!! I had the buffalo wings and the Parmesan truffle fries that comes with their chipotle mayo sauce- sauce was on point!! So tasty! My girlfriend had the potato croquette and barbecue wings which she also enjoyed. My other girlfriend had the chicken tenders and had no complaints either

Dutch Fred was great from the bbq wings, to the chicken tenders, truffle fries to the potato Crockett. To Daryl at the door making sure we had everything we needed. Shout to the waitress and the servers who also made sure we were good!!! The music was great awesome vibes.
Be the first to ReplyI came here with a friend for dinner.
It's a pretty quaint spot with decent service. The food is comparable to The Smith if you're looking for most cost effective option.

I would dearly love to give Dutch Fred's 5 stars because the ambiance, service, cocktails and food all were awesome, but I can't because of the total noise level, and we were dining at 5:30 on a Wednesday. The place was packed with a big bar and pre-theater crowd, and while the low, curved, tiled ceiling is delightful to look at, it was a giant noise amplifier, which isn't good even when one isn't hard of hearing like me. We started with cocktails- Red is the New Black for me and smoked Old Fashioned for husband. Pricey but delicious! We shared an order of eggplant chips - an absolute must, salty, crispy and with a touch of honey. Husband had the tuna, and was very happy. I had the fried chicken sandwich and all I can say is yum! It stayed crispy till the last bite, even with a slaw on top, and the bun never got soggy. Fries were good but could have been a bit crispier. I'll definitely give this another pre-theater go in the hopes that the noise level will be less.

I came by here to meet up with a friend for a drink and small bite - so I can't speak for a full dining experience. For my drink, I just had to go with the Working Class Hero (Teelings Irish whiskey, antica, house-made caramel porter) - the presentation alone is reason enough to get this, if you happened to be a whiskey/old fashioned fan. I kept the bottle sealed as long as possible to allow the smoke to really penetrate (sometimes smoked cocktails can look nice, but smoke doesn't really impart much flavor); and this one actually lingered quite nicely! Solid drink, would definitely recommend! For a snack, we just shared some truffle fries - standard issue, well-executed.The atmosphere can get a bit noisy at times / fairly loud music (sort of tough to hear my friend, etc.), but otherwise a pretty pleasant experience and probably wouldn't hesitate returning if in the area.

Very busy on Sunday for brunch but it was a a great experience. The brunch of chicken waffles and omelette were delicious. The server was perfect; she checked in but didn't uncomfortably hover over us. The Willy Wonka drink was cute and good on the first sip but towards the end it wasn't too good. I couldn't finish it. I will definitely come back to try other drinks and meals.
Be the first to ReplyGreat area.
Place is loud when you walk in but there are tables all the way in the back. Not as loud. Service was good. Pickles were on the soft side (not good) but chicken sandwich was ok. Ahi tuna was star if the meal. Great spot right before the theater. Will try again.
Be the first to ReplyTwo crowds here.
The after work scene is loud, fun atmosphere. After 6PM the crowd changes and the atmosphere is active but noise level is tolerable. Food is great for lite bites and drinks. Fun place, recommend it for a casual lite bite dinner and drinks.

A must!!! Every time we visit nyc we stop in for a bite, or dinner and drinks. Everything is good. Had the ahi tuna- amazing! So are the egg plant chips!!! May have to make reservations so always check first- and the location is perfect , just a couple blocks from Times Square.
Be the first to ReplyA comfortable place to have a drink after seeing a show.
Laid back atmosphere with good food and drinks. Their Manhattan is worth trying.

Very solid for brunch! We came here at 11:30 on a Sunday with no reservation and our group of 5 got seated with no wait at all, despite it being relatively busy. While I generally liked the decor (especially the bar area), it's a bit eclectic - the walls had both Russian grandma-style ornamental plates and black & white prints of exotic animals. For brunch, they have a bottomless option that incudes 90 minutes of Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, or Dutchs Punch ($25). Most of my group ended up doing this, but I opted for an Aperol Spritz, which was very well made. For food, I ordered the Steak & Eggs, which was delicious! The name is a bit misleading, since it's basically a Steak Benedict (no complaints here), but the steak was cooked perfectly and the egg yolks were runny. The only part of this dish that fell short were the home fries - really mediocre, I ended up not eating them. Other than that, a great meal!
Be the first to ReplySolid place to come by pre-show or post-show from Broadway
Solid place to come by pre-show or post-show from Broadway for dinner and drinks.Their cocktails, although not mind-blowing, are decent and very reasonably priced. They haven't really jacked up prices compared to other bars post pandemic - which was a pleasant surprise. Compared to other restaurants in the area, they keep their kitchen open longer - comes in super handy when you are hungry after a show and need a bite. Service was quick and friendly.Definitely a place to keep in your back pocket as an option when you're in the area.

My friend & I came here after a Broadway and boy did this place just top off an amazing night. The staff were very friendly and kind and checked on us throughout our time here. I liked the whole vibe of this restaurant. Dim lighting and nice calm music-perfect for a date night. My friend and I ordered wings as a starter. We had the Honey Sriracha flavor and yes it tasted as good as it sounds. The wings were perfect! Super flavorful, juicy and crispy on the outside. For our food my friend had the Dutch Burger with Parmesan Truffle Fries. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the Parmesan Truffle Fries. I loved my Chicken Sandwich, it was absolutely delicious. Crispy and yummy. The truffle fries were also very very good. They were crispy and hot and just scrumptious! I definitely 100% would wanna return maybe after another Broadway show lol
Be the first to ReplyHad this to end a long day of eating around New York.
The drinks were well crafted and I really enjoyed my brother's Sleepy Hollow. It's pricy, but considering the location, it's not too bad. Overall enjoyed this bar quite a lot.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great cocktails, great ambience.
Got a Buffalo chicken flatbread and a cute little cocktail in a teacup. Friends got the burger and Turkey burger and they loved their food and drinks as well
Be the first to ReplyWe actually tried to go to 2 other places for
We actually tried to go to 2 other places for breakfast/brunch and settled on this place because of the apparently great reviews and the fact that we could get a table. We asked to sit outside in a booth but we're told that we were too early by 30 min (which we soon found to be false). My wife ordered eggs Benedict and I ordered baked eggs with tomatoes, and a side of tater tots. While the service was decent, although a bit inattentive, we were there for the food. The eggs Benedict were a disappointment. While the flavors were ok, the English muffin wasn't even toasted. The home fries, in very large chunks of potato, were the best part of the dish. My order of "baked eggs In tomato" was exactly that, 2 eggs in a cast iron pan filled with tomatoes and 4 toasted wedges. How did it taste? It tasted like 2 eggs poached in a pan of crushed tomatoes. The flavor was so bland and not at all impressive for the $20 price tag. Oh and $10 for a small side of tater tots! I should have just gone to Taco Bell for breakfast tacos and tots. Absolutely cannot recommend this place for Brunch. A complete rip off for terribly mediocre food. It's no wonder that we got a table so easily, people who know, just don't come here.

Stopped by for a quick drink, the place is close to the theater but not overly crowded. We sat on the bar got a drink. Most cocktails are around $16, I got the pink is the new black is pretty delicious. It might take a while to get the order there are two bar tenders only. I didn't get to try the food but I saw other tables have some brunch food looks good and good portion as well. The restaurant gets very loud too it was a bit hard to hear conversations even just two seats apart.

The past few times I've come to Manhattan and used Yelp to find places to eat and/or drink, Dutch Fred's has been regularly displayed, plus several of my local Yelp friends had written very favorable reviews. I took this as an indication that I needed to visit it sometime, which I finally did over the past weekend. It was indeed worth it and a very enjoyable experience.I had already reviewed their menus online, but when we arrived, we discovered that they were still featuring their St. Patrick's Day menu for a bit beyond St. Patrick's Day, with some additional options. We took them up on this and added the corned beef and cabbage croquettes and shepherd's pie empanadas to our order. These were unique, a little filling, but otherwise well prepared and tasty. We changed continents for the rest of our food order, adding pork belly bao buns (some of the best we've ever had), and chicken mole tacos (a spin I'd not ever had and equally enjoyable). Our cocktails were along the more traditional side but at the same level of quality. We had quite a few servers and staff taking care of us, adding something, removing something, cleaning something, and we appreciated their attentiveness. It was festive to the eyes and ears as well, with that backlit bar, and a string of upbeat songs from the 70s and 80s coming over the speakers. I'm very glad to have finally added this place to those at which I enjoy dining in Manhattan!
