Worth travelling to this little gem!
Never disappoints. Another lovely meal at lunch on Friday. Doesnโt matter whether you have a sandwich or a main meal there are always little extra touches and care with the food that make it worth travelling to this pub. They have some excellent friendly staff and an outstanding chef. The beetroot and goats cheese starter was perfection and even with a greatly reduced menu you can get the occasional gem like soft shelled crab. The portions are generous and the prices are in keeping with paying for quality produce. The menu changes on a semi regular basis meaning that you can visit more than once and not get bored and always offers something different to the average pub fair.

What a find! There are many lovely restaurants in the New Forest but for one of the best Sunday roasts in the area then look no further than the East End Arms. Between the four of us we had the garlic & lemon roast chicken, the garlic & Rosemary leg of lamb, aswell as the pork ribeye. All the these dishes were amazing and to say that Milan and his superstar kitchen team had cooked some mouth watering and extremely tasty plates of food would be an understatement. For pudding we had the equally amazing home made sticky toffee pudding with rum & raisin ice cream and the rhubarb & port crumble. The whole experience was wonderful topped off by the staff, especially the ever engaging Faith - nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to all the East End Arms team. We will be back!

Iโd had the East End Arms on my wish list for ages, but it always lost out to places nearer home. We visited on a Saturday evening and had a delicious meal. Excellent service and a cosy informal atmosphere in the restaurant. Definitely worth the trip out and will return in the summer to have a proper explore of that part of the New Forest.

Be the first to ReplyVery lively bar
As we had a dog we were told we would have to have a table reserved in the bar. Although when we walked through the restaurant there was another family with a dog. The food was good - we have roast beef and gnocchi- 4 soft drinks including service it was ยฃ104. The bar was really lively full of locals and incredibly busy and friendly which is great but I think I would have rather been in the restaurant and eating my Sunday lunch in a more relaxed ambience.

The Pumpkin Soup was lukewarm but to be fair perfectly tasty. Sadly, no staff around to ask if it was actually meant to be tepid so, being on a special night out with a friend, I ate it. Not quite the โwinter warmerโ but ok. When plates finally cleared I asked if it was meant to be a cold soup. The staff said โnoโ and they would tell chef. So far, no major problem. What was really annoying is when the staff came back and said theyโd tasted the soup in the pan and it was definitely hotโฆinference being that a) I lied b) I canโt distinguish between hot and lukewarm c) my soup has been standing around for some time before being served. Disappointing.

We'd gone astray following a walk in a book when we came across the East End Arms. Friendly and welcoming from the start, we were tempted by the platter advertised on the specials board although we had to return 2 days later when food was served. We were not disappointed. We shared two of the aforementioned platters between the 4 of us before trying other dishes on the menu. The choices available were excellent and much more than your average 'pub grub'. Great flavours and every dish well cooked and well presented. The staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. The only question - why do more people not know about this place - or are the 'locals', who travel quite a distance to get there, trying to keep it to themselves? We're definitely going to visit again.

This is a beautiful place to eat on a summer's evening. I strongly recommend you eat outside if you get the chance. Everything was just right. The staff are excellent , the menu varied and exciting and the food was fabulous. We opted for fish and seafood throughout (the mackerel and the scallop starters and the brill and langoustines with ravioli mains) The broth that came with the brill was exceptional! The chef had chosen unusual and bold flavours that really worked. The lobster bisque which accompanied the ravioli was heavenly. It was a refreshing change to see a good selection of wine and very reasonable prices too. Thank you East End Arms - it was a night to remember.

Be the first to ReplySuperb B&B in the New Forest
We, a family of four, stayed there two nights in two double bedrooms. Everything was nice and cosy and we felt completely at home. Staff was very helpful and obliging and breakfast menu to choose from was overwhelming. We also enjoyed a perfect dinner on our last evening. Five stars for everything.

Be the first to ReplyStayed 2 nights
We were a party of 3 staying for 2 nights. We did not eat meals from the menu as we were eating elsewhere as part of a wedding celebration on both nights. The breakfast included in the b&b rate was excellent. Friendly service and good quality food. Room was comfortable as was the bed. Very peaceful location with lots of bird life and lovely surroundings. Dawn chorus woke me but was delightful. Soon turned over for a few more zzzzzzz

This used to be one of my favourite pub / restaurants even up to about 3 months ago. I regularly recommended it to friends. Being quite regular visitors for lunch and dinner, my wife and I went for lunch a couple of weeks ago. For the positive, the Ringwood Ale is still good and well kept. We were a bit disappointed with the current menu which used to be much, much better, top quality in fact. The latest lunch menu was at best average but we thought OK for a quick lunch. Whilst there we asked to see the evening menu as we had intended bringing a family gathering soon, only to be told the evening is the same menu. Oh dear please return to your previous excellent menu.

The bar staff were friendly and helpful, the menu is fairly short with plenty of seafood and fish as well as steaks, other meat dishes and some delicious local asparagus. Whoever is in the kitchen can cook good ingredients well and make classic sauces. The portions are large; l had two starters and was unable to finish my fish cake. My son, a committed carnivore, left some of his steak. Puzzlingly his steak with peppercorn sauce came with two home made and very tasty onion rings but our side order of onion rings was of the frozen, supermarket variety. However, there are obviously staffing issues and gaps in restaurant management. Serving drinks to a table of ten, two at a time with no trays used is not a good use of manpower and not having sufficient menus for the next table to be choosing its food means longer waits and although this was a sunny Easter Saturday, the place was not overrun with guests eating so service should have been more prompt. At some time between 3 and 4pm, there was a large family lunch party trying to settle their bills, our mains had just arrived but we were waiting for a drinks order and a steak knife, and there were drinkers at the sunny tables outside requiring bar service. One waiter had been left to cope alone and was becoming overwhelmed by being unable to serve bar and restaurant customers properly on his own. More staff came on shift at 4pm but for a period service broke down and that makes both staff and customers unhappy. This is a nice dog-friendly pub with parking, a localsโ bar, restaurant space inside, a very pleasant and well furnished shaded terrace with attractive gazebos, sunny drinkersโ tables out front, good food well prepared and a decent choice of beer and wines but it does need someone to take the helm and manage it professionally. I hope they succeed in that. I have given three stars but solving the problems would raise it to 4-5.

My finance and i came to the pub for lunch on saturday around 1pm, it wasnt busy at all. We went to the bar and felt very unwelcome by the waitress as if we werent locals. the local girls ahead of us ordered food and drinks. we followed and ordered and got told they werent doing food... then the people after us obviously were loicals also ordered food. what a let down. i wont be returning. VERY UNWELCOME UNLESS YOUR A LOCAL

This quaint pub and restaurant was a nice surprise. The food was very tasty, and the drink selection was sufficiently broad to cover our needs. The wines by the glass could use an upgrade, as they were only ok and not impressive. What made us happiest here was the atmosphere and the service. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely return if weโre in the area.
Be the first to ReplyBe prepared for a wait when theyโre busy
We were seated right away but it was a bit of a wait for everything, hence the score. The food was good and good prices. We started with mussels and scampi followed by sea bream and loin of pork. We finished with two sticky toffee puddings. They ran out of caramel ice cream and substituted with honeycomb and because of the wait I guess and the substitution they only charged us for a 2 course meal. Itโs a cosy atmosphere and would recommend for a nice Sunday lunch.

Be the first to ReplyVery good Mussels.
We had just been for our Thursday morning walk and the post walk rendezvous was the East End Arms.
There was a party of 14 of us and we were accommodated in the marquee outside - there were heaters but we didn't need them. There were a lot of different choices but once we were all sat down they all appeared as one order.
We had ordered the mussels and a side order of chips. Mussels aren't always on the menu so we took advantage. These were fine, Big, plump, a nice sauce, some toast. I might have preferred crusty fresh bread to dunk in the sauce but the chips served as well.
A good way of restoking the calories after a good walk
Fantastic pub. Great good and friendly staff
Booked dinner based on recommendation from our daughter. Absolutely fantastic. Had a lovely meal. Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff. Will definitely be going back.
